    She says she has a Citadel of her own because she LIVES there bro, like a kid says "I live at my house" the kid didn't think they own the house, it's just where they live, it's theirs in the sense that they live there. She's not claiming she owns the place lol she was like the last one there it's just where her anchor is. If she was at Bastion that would be "her Citadel" too, a "Citadel of her own" because it's where she lives.

      She assumes a position of a leader in her former forgotten shore cohort, while being anchored to Ivory Tower. She is also the clearest cohort's connection to clan Valor, because she is the only one of them who officially joined it. Why is it important? Because the Ivory Tower citadel is located in the Valor clan's area of influence. They get to unofficially decide who is worthy to possess a citadel and on what conditions, speaking from the position of power. It's easier for them to leave Nephis' "cohort" be, because to forcefully change the arrangements they would have to spend a lot of resources and risk a lot of things, public image included, while having to prepare for war. Still, they would want the owner of the new citadel to be under their direct command.

      Giving all these facts into consideration, it's easier to just assume that Nephis is a new owner of Ivory Tower citadel.

      Its her citadel because the people who are anchored there are more loyal to her, even if Sunny is strong or can challenge her for the ownership, Its the loyalty of those many that makes difference

      Especially Kai, Effie and Cassie, they may be Sunny's friends but they still are loyal retainer of hers

    I’ll just assume it’s political cover. As an adopted daughter of Valor, she can act as the visible ‘owner’ while Sunny fades into the shadows, plus shielding the cohort from political backlash.

    I mean yeah It fits the theme of Nephis shining in the light while Sunny is left in the shadows.

    But damn it just rubbed me off the wrong way. Plus they were talking “privately”, at least be modest.

    Since when did the Citadel belong to Nephis?
    She is just a guest there. The Citadel belongs to Sunny, Effie, Kai, Mordret and Cassie since they are the reason it exists.

    And here in lies the reason why I don't like Nephis that much. I don't hate her, but I also can't like her due to her entitlement and main character syndrome.

      The Citadel rightfully belongs to Sunny since he was the one who found it. Elfie, Kai and Cassie are good additions.
      Nephis is a cool character but she doesn't seem that likable to me in my opinion. Maybe she'll get a good name in my book. Let's see what lies ahead of us

        I hate Cassie as a character concept.
        Such a type is a great villain but a bad companion based on the costs other have to pay for it.

        But to Nephis I stay neutral. That and all G3‘s glazing over her annoys or rather irritates me.

        But she is still written better than Cassie…

      This is actually pretty stupid criticism. She is the main character of the world so this syndrome you mention is moot. And technically none of the cohort can claim to own the Ivory Tower since none of them are Saints loyal to a particular Sovereign. It belonged to Hope and now lies unclaimed but hosts Neph's cohort thus can be called hers in the way one calls a house they rent theirs

      The blood of war god did not start from Anvil... There was their father The Warden of Valor before them. It just happens that Anvil is more formidable and has a better cohort so he achieved greater things that his elder brother...

    Ah! Here it comes once Nephis comes into picture Sunny becomes background character clapping hands for everything. Like I am perfectly fine with the entire situation till now. Sunny's character development and his leadership skills and all. But once Nephis enters the scene Sunny suddenly becomes so one dimensional. It is like G3 deliberately makes Sunny dumb just to glaze Nephis.

    Neph hate is so forced lolololol. She literally did nothing? She constantly makes an effort to not use the Shadow Bond to control Sunny. By all means, Neph quite literally freed Sunny from his potential life as a slave, and yet you f#ckers keep throwing shade.

      Hm there might be people that hate her but from what i read from comments most people just don't like her which is completely fine many people don't even like sunny or any chracter in particular but they are still reading novel for world building for power system for all sorts dreadful events and heavy emotions
      The only person truly being hated here is cassie but i myself am not fan of her so i better shut up on this one though it would be best not being back memories of betrayal in comments again and again it makes things harder to enjoy and well author has already written past it it's not like anything will change so just roll with it

      Although I am not a fan of Nephis I am more than capable to recognise these things.
      It is incredible how, apparently, there are person so angry with fictional characters and even more impressive is the fact that they a character of this novel. I mean, almost all Shadow Slave's characters are good or, at least, not bad (excluding the ones that just appears once in long while, like Aiko)

      I don't hate Nephis. But I also don't like her.
      And here is the reason why:
      I am a member of clan Valor now, I have a Citadel of my own, and dozens of Awakened are ready to follow my orders.


      She acts as if the Citadel belongs to her even though she is just a guest there. It belongs to the Cohort who beat the Nightmare and her. I don't like her because of her arrogance, entitlement and main character syndrome.
      In her eyes everything she wants belongs to her. Like the Citadel or even Sunny.
      Plus all the Nephis glazing G3 does, when she appears in chapters or just gets mentioned.

      And this makes it difficult to like her for me. So at the end I have a neutral opinion.
