Gunlaug’s mistake is that he yapped too much, instead of cutting her head off faster.

Not at all, don't randomly use "plot armour" every time it doesn't go you way or if you can't explain it lmao

I don't usually comment on this site, but bro, don't you and the others realize that you play devil's advocate for everything that happens in the novel? There's nothing wrong with criticizing something, usually those who do it and keep reading are because they like it, there's nothing perfect... besides he's hitting her repeatedly like a sadistic bastard and common villain, when he could have ended her life at once knowing the healing ability... even you can't believe there wasn't a bit of armor involved bro.

Devil's advocate when the burden of proof was on his hands yet he didn't prove it and just mindlessly criticized it like most ppl do with no actual proof of what the're saying...

      Also
That was the moment when Gunlaug stepped forward and stabbed her through the chest with one of his daggers.

His second daughter flashed through the air, slashing Nephis across the wrist. With the tendons cut, the silver sword fell from her hand, its radiance dimming.

With that, he grabbed her by the neck and stabbed her again, reopening the terrible wound that had just closed once again

"Did you think I wouldn't know about that little trick of yours? Go ahead and heal. See where it gets you."

Back when they had first arrived in the Dark City, Sunny had noticed that Cassie wasn't affected by the psychic pressure of the golden armor at all. From that, he deduced that the source of the mental assault was not the armor itself, but the golden mirror of its face — or, to be exact, seeing your reflection in it. After returning from the Castle, he had shared that insight with Nephis.

He was torturing her since it was impossible for a mere healing abb to actualy heal those wounds fast enough,
He knew she had a "little trick", he didn't know it was an actual devine trick
He also didn't know she wasn't affected by his mental attacks, which was literally the reason he even got her in that position
It's bc she herself made this oppertunity to get him off gaurd

Torturing the face of a revolution is a part of 'state repression', a very common usage to discourage revolutions, we've seen ot throughout history,
      simple psychological warfare,

So pls tell me how "unrealistic" his behaviour was while he knew (from his gathered knowledge) that he had the upper hand and she seemingly had no hope of landing 1 threatening blow nor heal her fetal wounds nor defend against his mental attacks...
He tried to kill her the second he felt threatened but was too late since nephis was stated to be faster

And "a little plot armour" is just story telling, everyone is subject to it, even the villains...

It wasn't criticizing SS, that person was just mad he couldn't see nephis' death and blamed it all to "plot armour" since that's always the first thing readers blame when something doesn't go the way they want it to.
Acting like the author didn't literally foreshadow this exact counter attack.

Agree, they want reader to be agree with the plot or moved on. If criticize then stop reading the novel. What's the point of explaining why reader is dissatisfied, when they are supporting whatever the Author is saying. troll16

It's a plague to fight like a warrior; the true victor is the one who's alive until the end, it doesn't matter if they won by betraying, playing dirty, etc. Of course, that's just my opinion. boast yo_7
