        The amount of time that passes within any number of chapters is increasing.

        In the beginning, a few days or weeks was the usual timescale for timeskips, then it became months to years, then years to decades. Now it's up to thousands of years per timeskip.

        Saying that the "story is logarithmic in terms of years" is equivalent to saying that the timescales increase exponentially.

        The difference between a "logarithmic scale" and an "exponential scale" is in how the growth is visually represented. An exponential scale looks like a grows fast. A logarithmic scale takes an exponential scale and flattens it out to make it look like smaller and easier to understand numbers.

        In this novel, the passage of time is exponential (days -> weeks -> months -> years -> decades -> centuries -> millennias, etc), but the MC's realm is logarithmic. it takes those massive timescales and scrunches them down into a simple metric: "he gained another small realm" or "his realm increased by one".
