    I don't think it has to do with male or female. It's just the fact that the mc has something tragic happen towards him. Most readers are vicariously experiencing the story through the mc's perspective and to have your partner leave you is not what people want to experience. From most NTR, it's either cheating, rape, brainwashing, mind control crap that forcefully takes that partner away. Whatever Ntr crap it is, I don't think anyone wants to experience that. Unless you get off on getting cheated or having your gf raped in front of you.

          But what the netorate is about , really , the male's partner mostly being forced to leave him , like hypnotized.

          I will tell you why one man with many women is allowed and 1 girl with many man is not.

          BIOLOGY! 1 Man many girls = all kids from pregrancies belong to the man (he procreates) and the girls do too (no a slimmer of doubt as to whos the kids are)
