'Where there is light there shall be darkness'

«Hero? Nahh I’m the demon.»

In a world where the demons are looked on as the incarnation of evil, the human-demon war raged on across the whole continent.

The Seraphims, protector of humanity, and the Demon lords who rule across all demonkind. Amidst all the chaos, Simon was reincarnated as the lowest ranking demon noble.

A brutal world where the strong feeds on the weak, eat or be eaten, kill or be killed. A demon far off from humanity… a dream unfulfilled in his previous life will be achieved in this life. Taking on the moniker of Laplace, he destroys all his enemies and rise over them. Collapse

Is it me or people have completely wrong expectations? Do we need the authors to give a heads up on this ?

You people do understand that novels have different lengths? If we go for an average of 1500 words per chapter, a short novel could not exceed 150 chapters and be relatively complete. A medium length novel might be 300-500 chapters. Lastly a novel with long length might exceed easily 700 chapters and many more.

Everytime I see a review that says the MC hasn't had any character development in the first 70 chapters. The author hasn't introduced enough info of the world in the first 70 chapters and so on. The MC had a realistic reaction to a heaven defying beauty in the first days he knows her clamoring how unrealistic it is. Dude please. Simon was one of the most standard human of our modern society. You expect him to have no reaction to Irene. His reaction has many reasons to be like that. They get highlighted later on. Just because your brain doesn't have the processing power to understand why doesn't mean you get to talk shit about the novel. For those that do have the processing power but don't use it are even worse. This ain't a 200 chapter novel. It can easily go beyond 700 chapters. Stop making unreasonable critiques.

Having reaction and being a sumo is 2 different things. The mc is the master of dungeon and Irene is the summoned creature, yet the guy has to ask for her permission. Now before you sprout shit like he is simple or whatnot. Let me remind you he has already transmigrated in the world, where he had to kill countless creatures and even some of the same kind, so it’s highly rational for someone not to act like a simp and the author to change the summoning system so that the summoned creature is not even loyal to the summoner.

He asks permission for two reasons. First she is really strong. Way stronger than most people give her credit for. Secondly the MC is being decent. He asks for her opinion because she is knowledgeable and wants to respect her will.

How can he be decent when he’s trying to lure people just to kill them. Where did his decency go there.

Besides what’s up with his claim of still being a human. My man has already been there for some time and clearly he seems to have adjusted pretty well. Now you can’t expect me to believe that he is still the same guy that he was back in earth after everything.

He hasn't been there for a lot of time. A couple weeks at most ? No more than two months. He has barely interacted with other living beings that can communicate. How do you expect him to acclimate to a new world when he is barely interacting with it.

Also as I said it is perfectly normal to cling to his previous of human identiy considering it was his identy for 99% of his combined life. He hadn't experienced a dramatic event yet that would change that belief. He is naive.

Besides that chapter count is missleading. In 400 chapters even a year hasn't passed. You probably have acclimated with authors having too many things happen in a short period of time that you expect it to also happen in other novels too. That is quite unrealistic. The only reason they do this is because it is way easier to write the reaction of the rest of the world to the rise of the MC. Which basically is the same in almost every novel , suprise. Which is truly unrealistic , especially when normally most things need a lot of time to happen. You want to tell me that the dude which has lived for hundreds if not thousands of years and has a high cultivation rank didn't notice the peculiarity of the MC and acted accordingly ? Just because they are badly portrayed doesn't mean they are the norm. Here the author takes as much as possible more realistic approach.

So according to you killing isn’t as dramatic enough as simping for his summoned creature?

                  HE IS NOT SIMPING FFS.

He doesn't expect to be laid. The way he summoned her doesn't guarantee her loyalty. In other words if she had neferious thoughts she could have easily destroyed his dungeon core when he summoned her. Treating her half-decent is normal behavior. Stop throwing around slang words you don't know what they mean. Besides asking her opinion on things based on her status as a knowledgeable elder he doesn't really treat her that differently from any other possible Guardian of the Dungeon.

Here the thing, he wasn’t aware that she wasn’t loyal in the starting. It was only later that he found out.

Does it change anything even if he didn't know ?

Though he knew that the summoning feature changed before he summoned Irene. Especially considering that it was supposed to spawn the 12 heroes he designed. So he knew it was different.

Even then he has no reason not to be nice to her. Your simping argument is plainly dumb. Especially considering he never expected to be laid by her due to his "kind" actions. Which I will say again would be the same to any Guardian he summoned. They are way stronger than Simon despite being in a sealed state. Irene had the confidence to go against the loli dragon despite Simon being incapable of doing anything in front of her.

There’s a difference in being nice and literally having mc to beg her to to anything.

He didn't beg her do anything though. What are you on about. So far Irene has either leveled up or stayed in the dungeon protecting it. The only thing she has done other than that is teaching Simon as much as possible. Simon lacks much of the knowledge he should have in this world due to his low birth. Other than that she created like three items which she gave to him on her own when he
                  .

A group of humans want to ransack part of his body/home < A woman , a subordinate willing to help him tide the world.

Make no mistake that Simon's challenges will be the typical of other demons. He is a holder of a fragment of the Lost Sin. His life will be anything but simple. Being decent to the op Ice Phoenix seems a pretty good idea to me.

First of all, the mc isn’t the victim, although humans are entering the dungeon but he’s also actively trying to make them enter.
Secondly, he could have asked her to level up rather than allowing her to just laze around and yes he wasn’t aware of her being loyal or not. Thirdly, being decent doesn’t mean ogling her, till he literally makes her uncomfortable.

First, the humans don't only want to farm the resources in his dungeon but also conquer it and destroy the core.

Second , he did ask her to level up.

Third , I believe you don't understand how much of a normal human being Simon was prior to this. It's like a peasant suddenly standing in front of prestigious Kings and Emperors. Considering he didn't let this implicate his normal actions , I don't find anything wrong with it. He was staring because seeing such a beauty was such an alien thing to him. The more he interacts with her , the more immune he becomes to beauty. Though his realtionship with Irene is special (both the current one and suspected previous one). So even after a bit of time he still is a bit awkard when he stares at her face.

You have already forgotten that he has already faced a demon viscount. If you are gonna keep on sticking to your reasoning of him still being the same guy, can you explain me to me how was he able to face him. Let me also remind you that although he has also been there for only over 2 months he was able to defeat strong monsters. Since you keep on insisting that he was a normal guy, please do explain how was he able to manifest his fighting skills out of nowhere.

He didn't manifest skills out of nowhere. Which book are you even reading. His first fight since he reincarnated was abysmal. He was even forced to use his ancestral symbols against a bunch of mutts. Literally he has no special fighting skills up to recently. The only special thing about him is his magic progress. Though that heavily relies on his persistence and him being a being made of mana. You could say demons are an incarnation of mana. Him raining mana spells can't be called fighting skills. Besides even if he had fighting skills what connection would they even have with his character?

If someone whisked you to a completely new country with a completely different language and culture to a place with sparce population , would you able to fully adapt in two months ?!?!? The only way to adapt to a new environment is by interacting with the natives. Killing monsters that can't even communicate can't even be considered interactions. He literally only spent a couple hours in a dukes party. He barely talked to anyone and he already made enemies. Where do you see him acclimated to this new world? It is not until
. I can't even fathom how you can't understand this simple fact. Not only is he in that world for at most two months , he barely interacts at all with it natives (once for a couple hours). How do you expect him to adapt when he had no chance to do so. He isn't trying to adapt to some literally poisonous atmosphere. It isn't a progress bar that is passively filled. He needs to actively interact with the natives of this world.

The concept is good and the story could have been a masterpiece.. But it wasn't so.. It was good in the initial chapters, but goes downhill later on...
A simple fight drags on for 10 chapters... And there is no character development.. After 150 chapters, it's really hard to read.. Lot of info dumps..
Overall, I enjoyed it in the first 100 chapters.. But not after that..

    I'll be extremely bluntly honest

Story, power, system and world build is extremely on track

Author doesn't know how to make character personalities and mc and others and too 1D with no feelings just every 3-4 chapters he'll
say he is weak and clenched fists.
Simply simp mc and simple no story just development in feelings bcz they chapters go on like

It gets really bad after around chapter 134 in the midst of battle his mindset changed to that of a simp hoping to be recognized by his "beautiful" summon he just wants to be by her side as he says it's just really bad afterwards for a demon with the mark of pride he should be ashamed to have such simple goals
