Chapter 7

The hunting squad was anxiously moving through the wilderness. There weren't many wild beasts to begin with, and now that they weren't in a good state of mind, no one was in the mood to hunt, so naturally, there wasn't much to be gained.

Cough, cough! An uncontrollable cough resounded, causing the entire squad to stop, everyone turned to look at the person who coughed.

"My throat is just itchy, I'm not infected" The man was a bit panicked, but hurriedly maintained his calm as he spoke, but his feet couldn't help but take a few steps back.

"Brad, lift up your clothes, let us see your skin" the man spoke with a serious expression. In truth, he wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he also felt his throat itchy and his movements were a bit weak.

Brad's expression froze, but he still lifted up his clothes. A few black spots appeared on his body, his breathing was a bit heavy, his expression was one of despair.

"Brad …" Dax muttered this man's name in a low voice, then slowly walked over after a bit of silence: "The rest of us aren't sure if they've been infected or not, for the sake of the rest of us, please leave the group"

"Don't abandon me" Brad's expression was one of despair, his body trembling.

"Brad!" Dax shouted to draw Brad's attention, then spoke with a serious expression: "Listen to me, for the sake of the village, you have to leave"

"We will be heading to Tucker Ridge next, you can return to Xili River, we had previously cast a net there, we should have caught a few fish by now, you can eat your fill and live out the rest of your days"

Dax held his breath, hugged Brad for a bit, then slowly retreated and took out his bow: "Now obey my orders, leave the group, do not approach us, otherwise, for the sake of the group, I will have no choice but to kill you"

Brad's lips twitched, but didn't say anything in the end, he lowered his head and ran in a certain direction. Dax raised his bow and arrow as he watched Brad leave, his eyes filled with an indescribable emotion.

It wasn't until Brad had gone into the forest that Dax lowered his bow and arrow, looked at his sorrowful companions behind him and muttered: "Let's go, we're heading to Tucker Ridge"

"Their bodies are quite strong" Wang Yuan stood under the shade of a tree at a distance, watching the divided group.

Last night, he used his control ability to move the air that contained the germs around the people he wanted to eliminate and infected them. But these people's physique was quite good, which was also related to the low amount of germs they were infected with, so only one of them showed symptoms of the disease.

"I was still a bit careless, I should have waited until nightfall before acting, that would have used up quite a bit of white mist" Wang Yuan looked at the hunting team that had resumed their journey, calculated the consumption of the white gas, and made a plan, "Based on their current situation, the disease will break out in the evening. We'll take action then."

Their journey was so dull that Dax wasn't in the mood to hunt anymore, so he led the group straight towards the Tucker ridge he spoke of.

The sound of coughing could be heard from the group at noon, but this time, Dax only told the coughers to stay a bit further away from them and didn't chase them away like Braid did. Perhaps he had noticed that the plague had already engulfed them.

At this point, only the youngest Comoros didn't show symptoms, the other three were already coughing. Indeed, Wang Yuan only intended to keep the young Comoros alive. If he was the only one who could return to the village alive, Wang Yuan was confident that he could completely control him and make him listen to his every word.

There was a small cliff next to Tucker Ridge with a waterfall hanging from it, the sound of water splashing could be heard. The coughing members of the group stopped at the bottom of the waterfall, while Comoros moved away with an unnatural expression on his face.

Dax looked at the setting sun and understood that his life was about to end just like the sun. But he was different from the sun, the sun would rise again the next day, but he wouldn't be able to stand up again.

However, hearing the cawing of the crows, Dax looked at the setting sun and smiled. He wanted to once again shine with his own light.

"I knew you damned animals were following us!" Dax barely managed to stand up, drew his bowstring and shot an arrow.

But the speed of the arrow was too slow and was easily dodged by the mutated crows.

"Still trying to put up a final struggle?" Wang Yuan watched from afar as the four-man squad continued to fire at them, not caring too much about their resistance. The germs were quickly spreading, at most half an hour later, they would collapse and die from the germs' effects.

However, he still had the crows kill some of them, this way, Negri's image would be deeply ingrained in their hearts, and the crows would become his symbol, making it easier for him to control the rest of them.

"I just feel like something isn't right" as Wang Yuan watched them struggle, the sound of the waterfall resounded in his ears.

"Waterfall? Water, the Xili River!! " Wang Yuan froze, recalling what Dax said to Brad, he hurriedly tried to sense the crows' situation, only to find that Dax's group was purposefully forcing the crows closer to the waterfall.

"Damn it!" Wang Yuan hurriedly ordered the crows to scatter, but he was still one step too late. A man jumped down from the waterfall with a net in his hand, his face was covered in black spots and blood was flowing from his mouth and nose. It was Braith who was chased away from the group.

Braith used the last of his strength to spread the net, the somewhat tattered fishing net completely covered the crows. He was already on the verge of death, in fact, if Dax's group had arrived just a bit later, he would have already died.

The reason Dax hugged him for the last time was to tell him about this ambush. Just as Dax had said, the village needed him, if they didn't kill these followers of Negri, the plague would sooner or later spread to the village.

The words Dax said to Brad this morning flashed through Wang Yuan's mind. Wang Yuan instantly understood, Tucker ridge was right next to the Xili River, Dax had planned this from the very beginning. Wang Yuan had fallen for it!

"How dare he! He couldn't even be sure that the crows would attack them, nor could he be sure that the man called Brad would be able to understand and carry out his orders, how dare he!!! "

Wang Yuan didn't even have time to feel the shame of being fooled by his prey before he rushed forward. The crows were caught in the fishing net, even if Dax's group was powerless, how could they miss a target that couldn't even move?

As the arrows were fired, Wang Yuan immediately sensed the consciousness of one of the crows weakening.

He did not have much white Qi left. Although killing these people would allow him to obtain quite a bit of white Qi, if he lost Crow, without its help, he would not be able to reach the human gathering point. With the power of a remnant soul, it was very likely that he would not be able to reach the human gathering point in time before he ran out of white Qi.
