Chapter 69

Nala wielded her knight's sword and cautiously looked at the corpse in front of her.

Suddenly, she heard the living corpse rushing towards her. With a thrust of her knight's sword, the corpse's heart was pierced. But even after the heart was pierced, the corpse was still moving and waving its hands at Nala, as if it wanted to crazily tear at Nala's smooth skin. Nala frowned, swung her sword again, and decapitated the monster.

"Only by decapitating them can they rest in peace?" thinking that, Nala hurriedly ran towards the person on the ground.

This person's neck had been bitten open, blood was continuously flowing out, obviously he couldn't live much longer. His eyes were staring at the night sky, as if he was complaining about something.

Nala put down her knight's sword, took the man's hand, and began to confess to him, praying that he would be able to ascend to God's heaven and obtain eternal peace.

The soldiers behind her held torches and rushed over on horseback.

"Your Highness, what are your orders?" the soldiers dismounted and pulled out their weapons, seeing the rotting corpse, they asked in confusion.

"It seems that a corpse has come back to life" Nala stood up, looking at the lifeless corpse that had crawled back up, she picked up her knight's sword again.

"My Lord, what is this thing?" The soldiers behind her fearfully pointed their swords at the corpse that had just stood up. They had never seen a person with such a rotten neck still alive, combined with Nala's words, they could only feel fear.

"Calm down!" Nala swung her sword to decapitate the newly resurrected corpse, then turned around and told the soldiers: "There's an evil and ominous thing that can resurrect corpses, and those who are bitten by it will also become monsters"

"Send two people back to report the situation and have them send some reinforcements. Right now, there's only one thing we need to do" Listening to the screams that were still going on, Nala spoke: "Decapitate these monsters and grant them eternal peace, understood?"

"Un … understood!" the soldiers hesitated for a bit, then loudly replied.

After Nala gave the order, she led the soldiers to another place. Looking at the Royal Daughter who didn't hesitate at all, the soldiers felt a kind of strength pouring into their hearts. The Royal Daughter was only a seventeen year old girl, yet she was willing to fight without any hesitation, so what reason did they have to refuse?

"All villagers, do not panic, hide in your homes. If you see any moving corpses, please run towards the barracks in the south" Nala loudly spoke: "We are the kingdom's soldiers, we will definitely protect your safety!"

A large number of corpses began to move and charged towards Nala's group. Nala didn't have any fear in her heart, nor did she hesitate with her sword. She was such a person, as long as she believed that something was right, she would do it without any hesitation.

Just like how standing up and becoming the Saintess of Salvation would make her mother happy, so she stood up.

As the ugly corpses fell, Nala granted them eternal peace. After receiving the information, Rhys, who was in control of the situation, also sent out reinforcements. A large number of soldiers entered the village to clean up the corpses.

After a period of chaos, the situation was finally under control. On the way, the bitten villagers suddenly went crazy and caused a lot of trouble, but they were just a group of corpses. As long as the soldiers with weapons and armor could overcome their fear of fighting corpses, they could easily defeat them.

"Your Highness, the situation has been interrogated." Rhys came to the side of Nala, who was holding a sword and standing next to the fire, and said with a heavy tone: "These corpses are all from the village. They were all buried in the cemetery on the other side of the village."

"Then bring a group of people and follow me to the cemetery to have a look." Nala said. This act of desecrating the corpses was an evil deed no matter where it was, so it was hard to say whether or not this was a conspiracy of the Kingdom of Royas.

Considering how contagious the corpses were, if a large number of them appeared at the rear of Interkam's defense line, the entire defense line would collapse, and there would be no need for them to rush to the frontlines.

Of course, this might not necessarily be a conspiracy of the Kingdom of Royas. After all, even if Royas didn't use these methods, they would have already completed their conquest of Interkam.

Without further ado, the group quickly made their way to the cemetery. What they saw was only a hole that broke through the ground behind the tombstones. Nala was using [Respiratory Art] to sense the situation around her, but she couldn't sense anything.

Rhys held his sword and cautiously observed his surroundings, slowly moving forward. Suddenly, a commotion could be heard from the bushes as a living corpse jumped out and pounced at Rhys.

Rhys wasn't a particularly strong combatant, but his reactions weren't slow. This was something he had honed through various' accidents'. As soon as he was ambushed, he immediately retreated and thrust his sword forward.

The living corpse that charged straight at him collided with his sword, causing blood to splatter everywhere. This person's face also appeared in front of Rhys. It was an ordinary face, but one that carried a satisfied smile. His withered right hand that resembled a dried up twig was holding a palm-sized book.

Bright red blood, did this person just die not too long ago? As this thought flashed through Rhys's mind, he raised his sword. The corpse immediately stopped moving and fell to the ground, the book in his right hand flew out of his hand and fell in front of Rhys.

As soon as he saw this book, Rhys felt something stirring in his mind, causing him to instinctively take a step forward to hide the book.

Hearing the commotion, Nala's group hurriedly rushed over, saw the corpse on the ground, and asked Rhys: "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine" Rhys forced a smile. Rhys forced a smile. Inexplicably, he didn't reveal the book on the ground, instead, he brushed off the others and quietly picked up the book afterwards.

Rhys looked at the book and flipped it open. Reading the contents inside, he understood that this was the root cause of the calamity of the living corpses. The book had a total of nine pages, each page describing the creation of a monster. For example, the first page described how to modify a monster through medicine and surgery.

Each monster had an illustration, using simple black lines to describe them, but they were very lifelike, as if the monster would come to life at any moment.

And on the fifth page, it described the living corpses, but this page didn't have an illustration.

Rhys put the book away with a cold look in his eyes. There was a monster inside this book that would be of great help to the war, and it didn't take much to figure out that Nala wouldn't use this to win the war. Although he pursued the light, he didn't mind using some methods that weren't so bright.
