Chapter 367
Field's body was shrouded in black mist, the power of fear gave him an oppressive presence.
Kalanci was a bit panicked, after all, his biggest backer, Marche, was currently sitting on the ground, his face flushed red like he was constipated, unable to even open his mouth.
Field also didn't think that the loophole created by that spirit would be so useful, he felt like he had just profited from this.
"Killing these two people will bring about a qualitative change." Field knew that quite a few people in the Academic City knew of his name, but the number of people who feared this name was probably only about 5% of them.
These people were people who trusted the House of Mages and other organizations, so in their eyes, he was nothing more than a clown. While he appeared to be very powerful, once someone at the top became serious, he would be nothing more than someone who could be easily dealt with. Such a person naturally wasn't worth fearing.
However, as soon as he killed a member of the House of Mages, the significance would change. His level of danger would skyrocket, and those who knew about it would more or less become worried, which in turn meant that fear wouldn't be too far away.
The information he obtained from that place gave Field some ambition. He knew that if he could become the synonym of fear for the entire city, or even the entire world, he would be able to become a God.
If he couldn't, he would only end up as a clown.
By killing these two people, he would be able to break Roger's final resistance, as well as gain even more fear, so why not?
Kalanci reached his hand out and cut his finger with his sharp nails. A bit of blood splattered out, which then turned into crimson spikes that shot towards Field.
Marche's lineage was proficient in blood magic, a method of infusing mana into one's own blood and using it as a medium to perform magic.
"You're still too naive" The black mist around Field's body fluctuated as he grabbed the crimson spikes with his hand, causing the crimson spikes to turn into dust and scatter.
His large hand grabbed Kalanci's neck, causing his skin to turn red. [Enchanted Blood Skin], the blood infused with mana solidified under his skin and turned into the sturdiest of armor.
The sound of glass shattering resounded from his neck. Field raised his hand, the black mist around his body surged and converged towards his hand, at the same time smirking: "Do you feel the presence of death? He is summoning you, your Death Omen Star is shining "
"Don't even think about scaring me" Kalanci could feel the protective layer of his skin shattering a bit more. [Enchanted Blood Skin] had a limited duration, even if it didn't shatter, it would still take his life. In the end, humans were still humans, they could use mana to do many things, but there were still certain things they couldn't.
This blood solidification spell interfered with the normal flow of life, so if it wasn't dispelled within the time limit, it would only harm.
"But your heart is not like that. It is telling me that you are afraid of death. You are afraid of me." More and more black mist gathered around Field, Kalanci's fist, and King Kalanci. Kalanci's skin was.
Marche's face was getting redder and redder. He had placed all of his energy into adjusting the operation of the magic circle. Normally, there would only be a slight backlash, but now, if he didn't adjust it properly, it would turn into a mana whirlpool that would crush all of them.
Marche's complexion was becoming redder and redder. He had placed all of his focus into adjusting the operation of the formation. Normally, this would only result in a minor backlash, but if he didn't adjust it properly, it would result in a mana vortex that would crush them all.
But now, Kalanci was faced with a choice. He could either watch his son die in front of him, then be killed by that bastard, or he could give up on adjusting the formation and trigger the mana vortex, causing everyone to die together.
"It seems I came at a bad time" a voice suddenly called out. Field raised his eyebrows as he saw a man in his twenties, his body was covered in scars, his expression was cold, and he didn't seem to be panicking about the current situation.
"Cade, hurry and help me" Kalanci recognized this man. It was his senior brother, the leader of the Sludge organization, as well as the one Marche had given up on.
"Teacher, you've taught me that Sediments are inherently inferior, and this inferiority has already seeped into their bloodline" Cade didn't attack. Cade did not make a move. Instead, he walked to the bookshelf on the other side and opened a secret door.
"Esteemed Mr. Field, I believe you won't mind if I take a few things with me" After Cade finished speaking to Felder, he directly walked into the secret room. "Teacher, a lowly trash like me naturally has to distance myself from a superior like you."
"Please go ahead" Field wasn't an idiot. He could easily deal with Kalanci alone, but if Cade joined the fray, there was a good chance that something bad would happen. Most of the mage's treasures wouldn't even be of use to him, so Field didn't intend to provoke any more enemies for no reason. Even if he wanted to make Cade feel fear, that would have to wait until this side was dealt with first.
"Cade, this is the reason why you can't beat me!" Kalanci immediately thought of something and tried to provoke Cade. Wasn't the reason why Cade chose to stand by and watch him die precisely because he lost to me and was stripped of his inheritance? Perhaps this bit of provocation might be able to make Cade change his mind.
"No, no, no, for Teacher, my personality is exactly what he needs. The only reason I lost to you is because of our different bloodlines" Cade put the mage's treasures away one by one: Cade put away the treasures of the mages and said, "I've been with my teacher since I was a child. I know what my teacher looked like when he was young, and I know him very well, at least better than his so-called best friend, who is your 'father'."
"Teacher, the things you created really do exist, and they have even affected your and your son's fates" Cade said without being too greedy and simply took the items away.
Leaving behind Marche, who couldn't hold on any longer, and Kalanci, whose blood armor was slowly breaking apart.
Following the sound of explosions and Field's maniacal laughter, Cade walked out of Marche's formation, passing by Brali's corpse, his gaze was unprecedentedly clear, a smile on his face.
"Field, Brali, Brewer, Kalanci, tsk tsk tsk, if I'm not mistaken, that person is truly terrifying" As he said so, Cade's smile slowly faded, because if that person was truly that terrifying, it wouldn't be a good thing for him.
A sense of danger appeared on Cade's body. He could sense that he was currently facing a difficult choice. Back when he was still among the Sediments, he had sensed danger and held onto Marche's hand, becoming his disciple, thus escaping the fate of all the other Sediments' children who were all sacrificed.
And now, there seemed to be a new danger.
And so, Cade changed his route and went all the way to the Mobis Institute, where he saw a horse carriage parked there, apparently waiting for someone.
After a brief pause, Cade stepped forward, knocked on the wooden frame of the carriage, and slowly said: "Sir Negri, I am …"
Before Cade could finish his words, the curtain of the carriage was lifted to reveal Negri's face, as well as the unexpected smile of obtaining something unexpected.
"I'm going to attend a banquet, and I happen to be lacking a coachman. Cade, are you interested in working for me?"
Cade felt a chill run down his spine. He hadn't directly come into contact with Negri, but Negri had already mentioned his name, which at least meant that Cade was under his observation, which explained a lot of things.
There weren't too many coincidences in this world, so the choice had already been made.
Cade bowed to greet Negri: "It is my honor to be of service to you"
