Chapter 341
"That's right, I just arrived today" Negri looked up at the young man who called himself Roger Cleves, carefully observed him for a moment before answering.
"Then, what do you think of the Mobis Institute?" Roger couldn't wait to ask. He could faintly sense the uniqueness Negri was giving off, and he had recently discovered too many problems with the institute, but there were too few people willing to help him. He hoped to find a few like-minded companions.
"Hm, it's a good place to study. As for other things, a person's curiosity shouldn't be so exuberant, that would easily lead to problems" Negri raised his eyebrows, as if warning Roger, then ignored him.
"Sorry to bother you" Roger said a bit embarrassedly, then began to focus on his lunch.
In silence, Negri quickly finished his lunch and put away the bottle of oil next to him. This action drew Roger's attention, as his heightened spirit sense allowed him to sense that there was something special about that golden oil.
This superhuman sense gave Roger a sense of superiority that transcended all living beings, and it was only a few months ago that this ability of his had awakened. Indeed, awakened. Roger was certain that he didn't use the wrong word, as this was an ability he was born with. As soon as it awakened, he noticed that he was different.
He was able to sense things that others couldn't, such as the occasional spirit that appeared in the city, his premonition of prophecy, as well as the mysterious whispers in his ears. All of these things made Roger feel that he was different from the others.
For this reason, when the Mobis Institute's abnormal situation occurred, his first thought wasn't to run away, but rather to believe that this was his stage. Just like the birth of a Demon King, adventurers would experience all sorts of hardships in order to defeat it in order to obtain wealth and fame.
In other words, due to his awakened ability, Roger felt that he was the main character.
Watching Negri walking away, Roger narrowed his eyes to look at Negri's pocket, where the bottle of oil that gave him a strange sensation was.
"What's the situation, Roger? Is that person really that kind of person?" At this moment, a voice interrupted Roger's thoughts. It was his best friend Landier, also a member of their current anomaly elimination squad. He was one of the few companions who were willing to trust him and investigate the anomaly of the institute together with him.
"That auditing student does have something special about him. I should find a time to investigate him again." Roger replied with a smile. The type of people that Landier was referring to were Mystics, those who wielded magic.
As Negri walked on the road, he didn't even need to use his perception to sense that someone was following him. Only they themselves would think that they hadn't been discovered by others with the level of tracking that was full of mistakes.
As expected, the abilities of these students were not worth looking forward to.
When Negri returned to the dormitory, he took out the bottle of oil that he had with him. It was the corpse oil that he had extracted from several corpses in the sewers. Those corpses had all practiced the same path magic when they were alive. Their bodies had already changed. The corpse oil that Negri extracted from their bodies could give Negri a certain amount of mana.
Together with a certain magic ritual, Negri could even inherit the progress of his magic training from the corpse. However, Negri did not do that. It was just right for him to have a certain amount of magic power.
However, that little guy might be able to use this. Negri glanced at the unfinished bottle of corpse oil, placed it on the table in the dormitory room, then opened his tool bag. If he were to give it to that little guy, he would need to add some extra ingredients.
After putting the prepared corpse oil into his bag and hiding the other ingredients, Negri left the dormitory room. He understood the mentality of people like Roger who didn't have any abilities at all.
They would believe that they were the main character, that they had a sense of responsibility, a sense of mission, that they needed to save all disasters, and that everything they did was for the sake of justice. For the sake of this goal of justice, they would do anything they wanted.
For example, stealing things that they believed would be helpful to them.
When Negri left the dormitory room, the stalker who thought that he had hidden himself well noticed him. He hurriedly returned to the dining hall, saw Roger, and said while breathing heavily: "I've confirmed where he lives, and he just left. It seems like he won't be coming back for a while"
"Very good, I can confirm that there's something special about that auditing student. Right now, the campus is filled with all sorts of dangers. For the sake of the thousands of students, for the sake of our beautiful campus, for the sake of the three professors and fifteen students who died the day before yesterday, we must do something!" Roger patted his companion's shoulder and spoke with a bit of passion.
In Roger's heart, he was also looking down on Negri. As expected of a Sediments, even after obtaining an identity, he still doesn't have the bearing of a gentleman.
And so, Roger quickly followed his companion who was tailing Negri and arrived at Negri's dormitory room. His spirit sense immediately sensed that there was something inside that was attracting him.
Under the cover of the Extreme Abnormality Elimination Squad, Roger crawled through the window that Negri purposely left open, then followed his spirit sense to open Negri's bag and saw the bottle of corpse oil inside.
The mana inside had become active under the influence of Negri's seasoning, so it was fatally attracted to Roger, who had an extremely high spirit sense but a normal body.
Looking at the bottle of corpse oil, the color of the scenery in Roger's eyes began to distort. Images began to appear from within the corpse oil, which showed several distorted figures who seemed to be casting some sort of spell.
"Take me away, take me away, I beg you, save me!!!" The figures were begging in a frenzy. Since Roger was able to observe them, he became their outlet, their intense fear and pleading directly struck Roger's heart.
Having experienced this before, Roger understood that these figures were the spirits of some people. They weren't human souls, but rather the consciousness and memories of humans mixed with some sort of power.
Only a small portion of people with strong emotions or under the influence of certain unique factors would be able to manifest a spirit, regardless of whether they were alive or dead.
A few months ago, when his spirit sense had just awakened, he discovered that a fellow student had used a spirit summoning ritual that he didn't know where to create a spirit from within his body.
However, not long after that, that student committed suicide for some unknown reason, and Roger went to look for the spirit summoning ritual but couldn't find it.
Holding the bottle of corpse oil tightly in his hand, Roger didn't hesitate any longer. Since that student wasn't willing to do anything for the Academy, I'll take this for his own good. After all, protecting the Academy is the same as protecting him. With that in mind, Roger hurriedly snuck out of Negri's dormitory room.
At this time, Negri was walking into the Academy's library. As he pulled out a book, he saw a distorted face flash through the gap between the bookshelves.
