Chapter 255

The underground ruins used to be a city of the elves, but after the invasion of the seven Gods, it had sunk into the ground and entered a sealed environment.

This was the first time this city had appeared in this world since the invasion began several thousand years ago.

Chromie could sense something calling out to him from within the city, which made him wonder just what kind of relationship his Farnate family had with the elves.

The Moonlight Ring was his family's heirloom, he suddenly learned elven language, as well as the distant calling of the elven city.

Chromie's eyes flashed with a hint of hesitation. The scene of the elves being wiped out by humans once again appeared in his mind.

The ones who wiped out the elves were obviously the current seven Gods Church.

If the scene wasn't wrong, then the seven Gods Church were the invaders. They invaded the elves' homeland, took over their living space, and finally wiped out their entire race.

And now, the entire world could be said to be under the control of the seven Gods Church. Wherever humans existed, the seven Gods would also exist.

Is it really the right thing to get involved in such a dark history?

Chromie didn't know, but he didn't have much of a choice right now. The monster that Darr had turned into was constantly attacking him, after the substance in his eyes turned from air to blood, it became a continuous attack.

Numerous wounds appeared on Chromie's body, if he didn't enter the city soon, with the terrain of the ruins, he wouldn't be able to evade too much.

Without much hesitation, Chromie ducked into the door in a flash, and Darr quickly chased after him.

Chromie felt as if he had arrived in a kingdom of giants. The streets were extremely wide, the houses were extremely tall, and even in their abandoned state, they still looked extremely beautiful.

The wooden houses were covered in a large number of vines that bloomed with cream-colored flowers that gave off a faint glow. After being buried underground for several thousand years, these plants must have undergone some sort of adaptation and evolution, giving off a refreshing feeling.

At the center of the city was a gigantic tree that seemed to have grown into the clouds, but it was already in a withered state, exuding an astonishing aura of death. With just a glance, he could see a gentle glow at a certain part of the tree.

The constant calling was coming from the center of the city.

But even though the buildings are in a state of ruin, from the traces I can see, there are still living beings in this world. As Chromie ran through the streets filled with weeds, he could see that some plants had been flattened, as well as some unhardened excrement.

From the images, it could be seen that there were indeed some elves who did not die and had sunk into the ground along with the Elf Capital.

"I wonder what the elves and other creatures have become after being sealed for so many years." Chromie could only feel that he was exceptionally adapted to the environment here. Even though he was injured, his speed was still extremely fast, and he soon left Darr behind.

Darr roared as he watched Chromie leave. A faint green liquid shot out from his eyes, incinerating everything around him.

A few tall skeletons slid down from the house. A skull rolled and landed not far away from Darr.

Darr resisted the various chaotic senses in his body, reached out a limb, and rolled up the skull on the ground.

The skull was exceptionally large, and compared to a human skull, it was not small. It was the skull of an elf.

What made Darr feel that something was wrong were the teeth marks on the surface. The teeth marks were very similar to the teeth on the skulls, which meant that these teeth marks belonged to the same species as the Elves.

"There are still quite a lot of plants here, so it can't be said that there's a lack of food. The teeth marks are quite recent, which means that eating their own kind has become a common practice here" Darr tried to maintain his rationality as he analyzed the situation.

"After sinking into the ground, a large number of plants began to die. At the time, the plants that could adapt to the underground environment had yet to evolve" Darr analyzed what happened back then: "The death of the plants caused the elves to lack food"

"Driven by their desire to survive, the elves began to devour one another. Some of the elves managed to survive, but even though the underground plants had already grown everywhere, they had already lost the rationality that intelligent lifeforms relied on to survive and turned into beasts that devoured their own kind"

"What a pitiful existence, but I'm not much better off. If I don't deal with the problem with my body, I'll either be dragged down by my body and lose my rationality, or my body will mutate and break apart"

"No matter what, I'm still going to break apart, this is also …" Darr felt a bit of despair. After all, he was only a young boy, so even though he matured early and had experienced many things, he still felt despair when faced with this kind of situation.

The tentacle of his right eye wrapped around the ring in front of him, the further he got from the ruin's corridor, the less psychokinesis the ring could exert. After all, this ring was only being maintained by the magic formation that Negri had set up in the corridor.

"No, no, I can't give up like this. My current situation is definitely within Lord Negri's expectations" Looking at the ring, Darr quickly regained his composure: "The change in my right eye means that Lord Negri hasn't given up on me, this must be part of Lord Negri's arrangements"

With that in mind, Darr regained his composure and began to head deeper into the elven capital.

Of course, there was also the possibility that he was nothing more than a stepping stone for Chromie, and that he was nothing more than an abandoned pawn of Negri. Darr didn't dare to think about that, afraid that he would break apart at that point.

The Gear in his body was still constantly turning, causing his body to constantly mutate. At the same time, some information from the Gear was also being revealed as the degree of fusion deepened.

The Gear of Impurity was an item created from the fusion of germs and the power of Impurity, the germs also contained the bloodline characteristics of the Dragon of Eternal Sin and the Divine race.

The power of Impurity would infuse these bloodline characteristics into the bloodline of the fused user, causing the fused user to undergo unstable mutations.

The Gear would then steal the linking substance between the fused user's life and soul after their death.

Or, to put it another way, it was the initial form of Vitality.

In other words, it was the main component of the white mist that protected Negri's soul when he was still a remnant soul.

After a living being died, the linking substance would fuse with their vitality, which was also known as Vitality.

This was the crucial linking substance between a living being and a soul, and it was this link that allowed the Gear to become complete, allowing the fused user to perfectly fuse with the Gear.

In other words, as long as one could steal the linking substance, they would be able to once again evolve stably.

Negri had a way to steal it, but he wouldn't give it to Darr. If Darr wanted to make up for this, he would have to think of a way himself.
