Chapter 243
Three years ago.
The sun was slowly setting.
The God was stingy with his radiance, unwilling to shine for even a moment longer.
A black-haired boy was standing on the stairs of the moat, using a simple tree branch in his hand to scoop up the trash in the dirty water.
There would always be some sort of harvest in the dirty water, for example, a silk handkerchief that someone accidentally dropped into the sewers, or something else. After these things were washed clean, even if they were a bit stained, they could still be handed over to the people in the grocery store and exchanged for quite a bit of money. At least, that was the case for him.
The sound of footsteps slowly approached, causing Darr to become cautious.
It was already quite late, perhaps it wouldn't be long before the sky turned dark, and a large number of ill-intentioned things would soon come out.
The only reason why Darr was willing to stay here was because if he couldn't find anything, he would soon starve to death, so there wasn't much of a difference.
The peaceful town of Lohr didn't have its own sense of compassion, and the number of people who died like him every day wasn't few.
What kind of existence that was, Darr couldn't describe it with words, but he would never forget that day.
The man seemed to have noticed Darr and stopped. Darr looked into his bottomless eyes, feeling an unprecedented sense of fear and peace.
Two very strange emotions appeared in his heart at the same time.
"Water outlet in 1 minute and 27 seconds" The man's lips curled into a smile of interest. After uttering such an ambiguous sentence, he continued to walk forward.
Darr stared blankly at the man with the tree branch in his hand, a bit confused. He glanced at the water outlet next to him, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted by a large number of footsteps.
A large number of armored knights were marching in an orderly manner, ignoring Darr and quickly charging towards the man in front of them.
"Vile one, accept your death, sinner of the Hermit Order" These knights chanted the Language of Judgement, drew their swords from their waists and pointed them at the advancing Negri.
Some of the knights also drew their bows and fired, but unfortunately, their arrows couldn't reach Negri at all.
The knights' armor was glowing, forcing Darr to lower his head. These knights were all important figures of Lohr, existences that Darr couldn't even look at directly.
"Almost there." A ball slipped out of Negri's hand and rolled behind him.
Negri could sense that there was a ring belonging to the Hermit Order in the midst of this group of knights. Most likely, some of the members were careless enough to expose themselves.
Fortunately, Negri had already anticipated this. Within the ring, there was a hidden identification mechanism. When he discovered this sign of danger, coupled with his experimental idea, he did not immediately activate the self-destruct mechanism of the ring. Instead, he purposely appeared nearby to attract the attention of these Holy Knights.
"Everything is interconnected and coupled." The more knowledge Negri gained, the more things he could foresee.
Through the changes in the moisture in the air and the flow of the air, he could accurately determine when there would be strong winds and how long it would be before rain would fall.
The more information he had, the more rules he understood, and the more things he could foresee.
Omniscience is omnipotence.
Because of that, Negri was able to use his germs to manipulate the moisture in the air to control when it would rain.
Everything would become the gears for Negri, slowly pushing them to achieve his goal.
Negri had already circled around the group of knights behind him.
Through their footsteps, breathing, and heartbeats, Negri was able to obtain a large amount of data from them.
The gears were already in place. The streets he walked on, the air he breathed, the heat he radiated, and the rings in their hands.
Everything he did was like a cogwheel. When he pushed the first cogwheel, everything would produce the result he wanted.
And so, Dahl saw something that he would never forget for the rest of his life.
The ball that rolled out of Negri's hand drew the attention of the knights.
A cautious knight released an arrow from his bow and accurately struck the ball.
However, they didn't expect the ball to suddenly explode as soon as it was shot, sending small fragments flying towards the knights.
Several knights standing in front of them raised their shields in unison, the light of Divine Arts glowing brightly on them.
The Church didn't dare to lower their guard against members of the Hermit Order, after all, they had just slapped the Church's face hard not too long ago.
Furthermore, the other party's behavior after being discovered had also caused them to be cautious. No matter how they tried to surround and intercept him, they couldn't stop him at all. Furthermore, the other party would often set up traps, causing trouble for them if they weren't careful.
The Church is currently undergoing a reformation, I heard that they're about to establish a new department with real authority. If I catch this criminal and earn some merit, I might be able to take another step forward. As the leading Red Sun Knight observed the enemies right in front of him, this thought flashed through his mind.
However, he suddenly noticed that the movements of the shield-wielding knights were a bit strange.
These knights silently cursed in their minds. As soon as they raised their shields, some sort of change occurred to their bodies.
One of the knights felt his arm becoming sore, causing his movement to deviate a bit. He recalled the long, messy grass on the side of the road that had dirty stains on them. As a clean freak, he had been using the shield in his left hand to push them away, and it was this small movement that caused his movement to deviate the moment he raised his shield.
The other knights were the same, either because their noses were itchy, or because their eyes were being illuminated by the setting sun, or because they suffered some minor injuries from the traps.
Their mistakes piled up bit by bit, causing the formation of their shields to become crooked, resulting in several gaps, through which small fragments of the sphere shot into the ranks of the knights.
Following that, even more chaos occurred. Because the knights at the front unexpectedly didn't manage to block it, the knights at the back hurriedly raised their swords to defend themselves, or tried to dodge or block.
But without exception, all of them went wrong.
The entire squad of knights fell into complete chaos, their raised swords just so happened to hit their companions who tried to dodge.
In the end, the entire squad of knights collapsed to the ground, some of them were even heavily injured.
The tremors of falling caused the underground sewers to loosen, a dirt-covered ring slid out from the dirt on the wall and flowed out of the sewer along with the dirty water.
Negri's words also suddenly appeared in Darr's mind. Perhaps it was an instinctive reaction, Darr reached out with the tree branch in his hand, the irregular branch perfectly pierced the ring.
And right now, it was exactly 1 minute and 27 seconds.
After regaining his senses, Darr hurriedly took the ring and ran away. He had witnessed the ugly state of the knights, so if he didn't run now, he might be the target of their wrath.
He relied on that ring to survive, then joined the Hermit Order. Through some scheming, he even managed to become an honored guest of one of the Overlords.
This time, the Gear will definitely be mine! Darr thought with a fanatical expression. For the past three years, that scene from back then had constantly replayed itself in his mind.
