Chapter 487: The Dark King

In both hands, Barr held a map made from the hide of an animal that his ancestors had given their lives for.

This naturally wasn't the first time that the Black Forest's black fog had dissipated. This black fog disappeared for a certain period of time, from three days to half a month.

The interval between the disappearance of the black mist was quite long, but the Yasenman tribe became more and more backward every year, which eventually led to the loss of such important information. It was now getting to the point where only a few people knew about it, and since the Zergs had appeared on this island, the already short life span of the average Yasenman was reduced even further, which eventually led to even Barr only knowing half of what was happening in the Black Forest.

Cold Disaster, undead, one of the kings, assimilation — these were all Barr knew about, but the entire black forest had long since been fully explored by the Yasenman tribe, which was saying a lot.

— Currently, we are not in any danger, " Barr said..

— Really? Wusang asked and looked at the dagger, the blade of which was already completely covered in holes, in disbelief.

— Almost.

Barr's response made Woosan and Mimi tense up. If they were not in danger now, what would happen to them when they were in danger?

*Ar-r!*

A roar suddenly rang out in the distance.

— This... What's the matter? Mimi swallowed hard, and Bubtney, who was always cheerful, tucked his tail between his legs.

— If I'm not mistaken, it was the roar of the undead. That's what we're going to face soon, " Barr said, and lowered his eyes. He knew the black forest better than anyone else present.

Although Wusang felt very insecure, he still walked in front of the group.

Su Xiao walked right behind Wusan, followed by Mimi, Bubtney, and finally Barr.

The group began to move quickly deeper into the Black Forest, even though Barr said they had plenty of time..

If something went wrong, they could at least try to get out of the woods. Once the seeds run out, even Su Xiao will end up dying from this mist after half an hour to an hour.

The group stopped after ten minutes of rapid movement due to a herd of rhinos.

Of course, these were not rhinos in the literal sense of the word — they were only vaguely similar to them and were noticeably larger than their earthly brothers.

A herd of more than 300 rhinos gathered together. They gnawed on the grass and occasionally raised their heads, looked around, and then continued to chew on the grass without lowering their vigilance.

The more Su Xiao looked at this herd, the more strange he felt. Rhinos didn't have many natural enemies, so they always looked lazy, but the rhinos in front of him were different.

— Let's go around them? Wusang's suggestion was very appropriate, but Su Xiao calmly walked out of the bush.

All the rhinos immediately discovered Su Xiao and stopped eating, their big eyes filled with panic.

Su Xiao continued to move forward. If he was on the ground, the rhinos would have charged at him by now.

But instead, the herd of rhinos began to scatter, as if they were startled fawns, and not a single one of them was going to fight Su Xiao.

Su Xiao didn't draw his sword or even release his aura. He just walked out to them, looking like a very ordinary person.

— These rhinos are so shy, " Mimi said, and stepped out of the bush.

— They are apparently at the bottom of the food chain, similar to rabbits and deer on earth.

And that wasn't very good news.

After continuing on and walking towards their destination for half an hour, the trees surrounding the group gradually became thinner and soon a tall stone wall appeared in front of them.

This stone wall was dark gray and uneven in places. This stone wall was built by intelligent beings, and it became so only after a huge amount of time.

Soon, they entered the ruins and began to survey the surroundings.

— This way, " Barr said, and several people immediately moved toward him.

Barr was crouched in front of a stone tablet that had words faintly visible on it, but the words were too blurry and only a small part of them could be recognized.

— What does it say? Although Su Xiao didn't know the language, he had seen similar words from the Yasenman Tribe before.

— Twelfth star, cold, experiment, failure...  Barr said, and shook his head. — The handwriting is too vague, I can only make out this much.

The information was useless, and several people once again went their separate ways.

Five minutes later, they gathered at the other end of the ruins and continued walking towards their destination.

— Did you find something we should know about? Woosung asked as he walked at the front of the group, steam rising from the gloves on his hands.

— No, " Su Xiao said without letting down his guard.

— ...

No one spoke from behind.

— Mimi, Mimi! Wusan said.

— Huh? " she asked, and raised her head to look suspiciously at Woosan.

— Did you find anything?

— Mimi scratched her head and smiled apologetically.

— Woof, woof-woof~, " Bubtney said loudly, but Woosan didn't understand.

— He said he smelled a strange smell, " Su Xiao translated for everyone, and everyone looked first at Bubtni and then at Su Xiao.

— How do you know what he "said"?.. Woosan and the others were startled.

— By the eyes, " Su Xiao replied calmly.

After a few seconds of silence, Barr shook his head and said he hadn't found anything.

The group became extremely quiet and apart from the sound of breaking branches and rustling rotten leaves not a single sound could be heard at all.

With the exception of the venomous insect they encountered at the beginning, they didn't encounter any danger even though they had gone deep into the Black Forest and had already been in it for three hours.

In the beginning, they could hear the roaring of animals and occasionally see wild beasts running by, but they all ignored them and it was obvious from their appearance that they were practically inedible.

All of them, after all, lived quietly in this black fog, which caused a huge amount of various toxins to accumulate in their bodies.

After four hours of being in this forest, it became very quiet around the group. There was no sound of wind or animal screams.

In such a quiet environment, Su Xiao could clearly hear the breathing of every member of the group.

On Wusang's forehead, the veins had long since swelled up. Their current situation seemed very bad in his eyes. He was under enormous psychological pressure due to such an abnormal silence.

— Damn, " Woosung swore softly, his eyes bloodshot.

The group continued to go deeper into the Black Forest and stayed in it for five hours.

— More and more, " Su Xiao suddenly said, and the little Mimi behind him shrank.

— Scared me... Don't speak so suddenly! Mimi said and wiped the cold sweat from her forehead.

— Is someone following us? Wusang asked and looked at Su Xiao with his bloodshot eyes.

— The creatures follow us everywhere. Why do you think it's so quiet here? These things scare away all the beasts, " Su Xiao said as he gripped the hilt of his sword. Although his perception was greatly weakened in this forest, he was still the first to discover these strange creatures.
