Chapter 345 New Discovery

Byron pulled Thor ashore, noticing that Thor's mental state and magic were unstable. He took the initiative to help Thor recover.

"Huh?"

"I saw the shipwreck. And those strange, glowing soul fragments."

"Yes." Byron extended his hand, and a transparent vial appeared in his palm.

The vial was filled with white mist, and two orbs of light floated up and down.

Thor looked at Byron's vial and silently extended his hand. His arm was still gray-white and hadn't transformed into a light source.

"I collected a little bit too, which is why I wasted time."

"Mm!" Byron nodded, his affirmation a bit forceful, as if warning Thor not to be greedy next time.

Thor actually felt strange.

He had never been tainted by the thoughts within the soul fragments when absorbing them. This time, however, he was trapped for a long time before emerging, as if the diary had deliberately delayed absorbing the impurities within the soul fragments for him.

Was it because there were too many soul fragments this time?

The diary didn't give an early warning, simply because Thor could endure it.

"At the time, I seemed to see a line, but before I touched it, the diary suddenly absorbed all the impurities. Was that also intentional?"

What was that line? Was the diary intentionally preventing him from touching it?

"I feel like if I really touched that line, something terrible would happen… Well, at least, I, in my right mind, would definitely not mess around."

"Huh?" Byron, unaware of Thor's thoughts, produced another bottle, this one containing a gray stone the size of a thumb.

"I found this too."

Thor snapped his fingers, and Little Algae instantly swam over, opening its large mouth to reveal a chaotic interior.

Thor reached into Little Algae's mouth, rummaging around and pulling out two gray stones identical to the one in Byron's hand.

Only when he held them in his hand did Thor realize that although the stones looked like ordinary rocks, blending in with the seabed and difficult to distinguish with the naked eye,

when Thor held them, he found that the objects were soft, like rubber.

With a little force, the gray stone in Thor's fingertips "clicked" and split in half, but before he could examine the cross-section, the two split pieces wriggled and morphed, reforming into two irregular, but roughly spherical shapes.

"Not stone, not metal, probably a synthetic material. There are traces of artificial intervention."

Byron nodded in agreement, having reached the same conclusion.

But Byron seemed to have made another discovery.

He opened the vial, poured out a gray pellet, and placed it on the reef, then took out a bottle of red liquid and dripped a drop on it.

The abnormal magical fluctuations emanating from the gray substance suddenly disappeared, followed by a burst of mental energy.

Thor, exceptionally sensitive to mental energy, couldn't help but lean closer to observe.

However, the gray substance itself didn't undergo any significant changes.

At this moment, Byron nudged Thor's shoulder, directing him to look at the sea.

Thor turned and was shocked to see the black sea glowing.

First, one or two faint light sources, then five or six, eventually forming a small patch.

Although not as numerous as near the shipwreck, it was enough to illuminate the ten square meters of sea near Thor.

They seemed to be attracted by something, drifting over little by little, gathering near the reef.

"First time seeing something that can attract soul fragments," Thor exclaimed, then a thought struck him.

Since the gray substance could attract soul fragments, did that mean it could be accepted by the soul?

If it were used as a container, or to improve a container, could it solve the problem of spiritual bodies not being able to stay in containers for long?

Byron hadn't participated in the resurrection experiment, but he also valued the properties exhibited by the gray substance.

When Thor looked up, he saw Byron staring at the sea, his eyes shining.

Thor rested his chin on his hand, "Senior Byron isn't thinking of fusing this thing into his skin, is he?"

And so, that evening, the two research fanatics began diving frantically, collecting the gray substance, surfacing for air, and then going down again.

They had completely forgotten their original purpose for coming…

Unfortunately, this peculiar gray substance was scarce. They searched all night, until their magic power dropped to the warning level, and they hadn't collected much.

As the dark clouds in the sky gradually dispersed, sunlight dimly shone on the sea.

The sea, which had been pitch black all night, finally revealed its original color.

However, this azure blue was still mixed with gray, making it appear somewhat oppressive.

Senior Byron planned to return, eager to research the newly discovered gray substance.

Thor had come here to replenish the soul fragments he had depleted using the soul tide. Although he didn't witness the bizarre soul tide this time, he wasn't disappointed.

In any case, the Blue Water Bay was right here and wouldn't run away.

The two rested for a while, replenished their magic power, restored their mental strength, and prepared to head back.

Thor didn't know how Senior Byron, who hadn't learned the flying technique, had gotten here.

But he didn't really want to know, feeling like his sanity would drop if he did. So, he simply flew himself, and then used Little Algae to carry Senior Byron back together.

It just consumed more magic power.

As Thor approached the coast, he made a point of looking at the cliff where Parker and Andy were.

But he was surprised to find that the cliff had already collapsed. The location where the two had been hiding had become a tall pile of earth.

There was only a faint scent of blood in the pile of earth. They were probably injured, but they had left alive.

"They left?"

"Yes." Byron also looked at the collapsed cliff with a serious expression, analyzing the method and intensity of the attack through the fracture of the cliff.

Thor cautiously watched his surroundings, his eyes scanning every possible hiding place.

"Hee hee hee~" A little girl's voice echoed in his mind.

Thor instantly understood that Andy and Parker had probably been tricked by the Nightmare Butterfly's little tricks.

And tricked quite badly!

"Senior, the enemies may have already left. Let's leave here quickly."

Byron nodded, agreeing with Thor's suggestion.

Not long after the two concealed themselves and left, the sky brightened.

Blue Water Bay was no longer so dangerous.

Occasionally, fishermen would take advantage of this time to go out to sea, or pick up some seaweed and shellfish on the beach and reefs.

But such rare foods as black sea snails would not appear in broad daylight, otherwise, the lives of the snail pickers would not become expendable.

The coast of Blue Water Bay began to become slightly lively.

Of course, this so-called liveliness was only the transformation from completely deserted to a mere three or four people.

At this moment, a middle-aged man carrying a huge suitcase and wearing a crumpled formal suit stepped onto the beach.

Sander stared blankly at the sea, which appeared incomparably desolate under the large swaths of dark clouds, unable to regain his senses for a long time.

Since his sister died in Blue Water Bay Harbor, he had never come to this place again, filled with guilt.

But when he learned from the wizard that his sister had not really died of suffocation, but had her soul taken away by the soul tide here, he rushed over here non-stop.

By the time he arrived at Blue Water Bay, he had spent almost all the money he had.

Sander patted the wicker box, "Don't worry, sister, I will definitely find your soul!"

But before that, Sander must find a suitable job in Blue Water Bay to make a living.

He made a vow by the sea and turned to rush back to the city.

On the way back, Sander saw several children in the distance, about five or six, crowding toward the beach.

The weather had turned cold, and the children were dressed very thinly. They shrank their hands, huddled close to each other, and could hear the younger ones chirping as they walked.

The sea breeze brought fragments of words.

"…wizard…good…remember…"

Perhaps the older brother inside was telling them the story of the wizard, threatening them that they would be caught if they didn't listen?

Sander looked at the group of siblings with some envy, and his hand unconsciously stroked the box.

"Maybe we can still meet, Mitter."
