Chapter 334: Too Curious

Hayden's second personality is enthusiastic about adventure, a little impatient, but extremely proactive. Without waiting for Saul to speak, she sat down on the electro-sensitive chair and attached the connection patches to her body.

Saul didn't object. He walked over to help Hayden adjust the equipment. Once everything was ready, he began to take out the control panel and start recording.

"Now, don't move, relax. I need to record the initial data."

Hayden cooperated well.

Five minutes later.

"Okay, now start performing fine movements, such as extending and flexing your fingers and toes."

Hayden obediently followed suit, but she added many movements of her own. For example, smiling at Saul, and running her tongue over her lips.

However, when faced with this rather suggestive action, Saul didn't react at all, not even pausing his pen for a moment.

"Okay, next is breaking free. Try to break free from the restraints of the sealing array behind you."

Hayden's second personality cooperated with Saul in a series of experiments.

Saul discovered that this second personality was braver, or rather, more insane, than the main personality.

There were some very painful experiments, even those that sounded cringe-worthy, that she could cooperate with without changing her expression.

Especially the breaking-free experiment. Hayden was particularly ruthless with herself. Even though she was in so much pain that her face was twisted, she was still trying her best to break free from the restraints of the golden array on the container.

In the end, Saul had to stop the experiment for her.

For three consecutive days, the second personality cooperated with Saul. It wasn't until the fourth day that Hayden's main personality emerged.

Saul breathed a sigh of relief, because Hayden's second personality was also very bold in some respects.

But despite having two Haydens cooperating almost unconditionally, Saul was still not very satisfied with the current progress of the experiment.

No matter how much he measured the changes in Hayden's spirit and the container, her spirit had already been fixed in a container by Instructor Rum's array.

With Saul's strength, he couldn't undo an imprisonment array that a senior first-order wizard had been working on for many years and constantly improving.

"It's best to use a flexible consciousness like Herman's, which can go in and out, for the experiment."

One afternoon, Saul crossed his arms and reviewed the results of these days' experiments, considering how to break through next.

"What I want to record is the commonality of rejection reactions when spirits enter different containers. Unfortunately, Instructor Rum and the others don't have a diary to solve the pollution problem that spirits suffer in the outside world, so they don't allow spirits that have already entered containers to be transferred again, lest they be polluted during the process and cause loss to the experimental subjects."

Saul could understand his instructors' choices.

He hasn't yet figured out why Herman's consciousness, during the secondary transfer and entry into the female container, suddenly uttered that sentence he hadn't heard for a long time, "Kill me."

Could it be that his possession accidentally alarmed a powerful soul within the Wizard Tower?

Saul had never found the owner of that sentence "Kill me", and no one mentioned it even in Instructor Golsa's resurrection experiment.

But he vaguely felt that this sentence... might be related to Madam Yula.

In the resurrection experiment, the person being resurrected actually has the least say, right?

Saul had been staring at Herman's experimental records for a long time, when a silver butterfly fluttered in from afar.

After the newborn Penny transformed into a silver butterfly, she gained a small range of freedom with Saul's permission.

She sometimes perched on Saul's left shoulder, sometimes flew around him, and occasionally wandered around the Second Warehouse.

She seemed to have lost all her abilities and could only surround Saul like a mascot.

Even so, Saul still warned Penny not to leave him too far and, even more so, not to enter other people's dreams.

Penny agreed readily every time.

Saul didn't need her to make any oaths, he just told her that if she violated it once, she would be waiting to be clamped in the pages of the diary forever.

Penny was very afraid of being locked back in the diary, and would always swear repeatedly in a little girl's voice.

Now, she had wandered around enough and was preparing to return to Saul's left shoulder to rest.

Just as she was less than a meter away from Saul, a black shadow suddenly flew out from behind Saul's neck, its jagged shark-like teeth wide open, and its black tongue twitching like a snake's tail.

The long-lurking hunter launched a fatal attack on the unsuspecting prey.

"Snap!"

"Ah! ! ! ! Stinky algae, that's disgusting!"

The Nightmare Butterfly was swallowed by Little Algae in one bite, and then popped out from the top of its head, spinning in the air, as if trying to shake off non-existent saliva.

Little Algae, having succeeded in the sneak attack, stuck out its tongue at Penny, "Ploop, ploop."

It seemed that Penny's arrival had given Little Algae a sense of crisis, and it would always launch a sudden sneak attack when the butterfly returned.

Although Little Algae couldn't touch the butterfly at all, it never gave up.

As for Penny... Saul suspected that this seemingly naive fellow was just playing with Little Algae every time.

She just wanted to lower her posture by embarrassing herself and integrate into Saul's small group as soon as possible.

Looking at his own Little Algae, who was so proud that its head was shaking, Saul could only rub his forehead speechlessly.

"Forget it, as long as Penny doesn't plan to harm Little Algae, let them play. Anyway, including them, there are already six members in the consciousness within the diary."

"Maybe in the future, I will have to adapt to a more lively atmosphere than now."

Penny, dodging Little Algae, landed on Saul's notebook.

Her antennae swayed, as if she was really reading.

Who knew that in the next second, she expressed dissatisfaction with Saul's experiment!

"Brother Saul, Brother Saul, why are you studying corpses here instead of continuing to study the battlefield of consciousness? Corpses are not fun at all, they don't dream."

Saul suddenly stood up, even knocking over the stool behind him, which fell to the ground with a "thud".

Little Algae hadn't shrunk back yet, and was startled by the sound. It turned its head in surprise, sticking out its little black tongue, not knowing what had happened.

Saul's face was cold, and his eyes were fixed on the butterfly, "I have never said this word to you. Where did you hear about the battlefield of consciousness?"

Penny seemed startled as well. She flew in a half circle in the air before landing.

"I was observing you, and I peeked at some history at that time. Although I didn't remember most of it, some fragments were left behind."

Saul sneered in his heart.

He had suspected from the beginning that this Nightmare Butterfly had not lost all of its abilities as she had said.

The Nightmare Butterfly's form in the diary is a bookmark, not a page.

And relative to the pages, the bookmark is actually something that can exist independently.

Not being a page, whether she will answer truthfully to Saul's questions cannot be distinguished according to the previous experience of the black pages.

But the initiative is still in Saul's hands. With just one thought, he can make the diary immediately take Penny back and clamp her into a thin pancake!

As for why Penny lied at the beginning, pretending to be useless... it may be that she had just been imprisoned by the diary and became Saul's property, so she was used to acting cautiously.

As for now...

Little Algae rolled up the stool and put it back in place. Saul slowly sat down, propping his chin with one hand, "Since you still remember something, then talk about what you remember? Why did you suddenly hatch? Why did you observe my history?"

...Probably after understanding that Saul is not a brutal person, she decided to slowly show her talent in order to increase her importance and status.

The Nightmare Butterfly stood quietly on the paper, looking harmless.

She sighed, "Alas, who made us Nightmare Butterflies so curious that we have turned ourselves into an endangered species!"
