Chapter 931: Hit Me in the Head

Yang Haoran had only taken a few steps when a Talisman Master appeared before him, blocking his path.

"This friend from the Underworld Office is somewhat unfamiliar. May I ask what business brings you to our Talisman Order?"

The Talisman Master blocking Yang Haoran's way was, like the Spirit Police officer encountered earlier at the Administrative Courtyard, a young man. However, while that Spirit Police officer's attitude towards Yang Haoran had been courteous, this current one, though his words weren't overtly problematic, had a tone and expression that were far from friendly.

The significant difference in their treatment of Yang Haoran was naturally due, on one hand, to their individual personalities, and on the other, to their differing statuses.

The Ancheng Administrative Courtyard, much like the former Lecheng Administrative Courtyard, struggled for survival in a precarious position. Thus, even if those from the Administrative Courtyard wished to act arrogantly, they dared not, forced to be cautious in their words and deeds.

Talisman Masters of the Talisman Order were different. After all, the Talisman Order was powerful, and with its backing, they naturally had far more backbone than those from the Administrative Courtyard.

Another crucial point was that the Ancheng Talisman Order and the Ancheng Underworld Office were not particularly close. Furthermore, as they belonged to different sects with different beliefs, it was quite normal for them not to be amicable when meeting.

Yang Haoran smiled, showing no anger despite the other party's attitude.

"Heh heh, I've come to visit Talisman Master Han. I wonder if he's currently in the temple," Yang Haoran said with a smile, his manner quite polite.

Hearing this, the Talisman Master frowned slightly, then responded with a hint of impatience.

"Talisman Master Han isn't here. Our Talisman Order doesn't particularly welcome people from your Underworld Office. Please leave."

With that, the Talisman Master turned, preparing to leave.

Yang Haoran didn't try to stop him, nor did he comply with the man's request to leave. Instead, he kept his smile and continued walking towards the temple's main gate.

Seeing Yang Haoran disregard his advice and insist on entering the temple, the man's expression immediately turned grim.

"I told you to get lost! Are you deaf?"

The man stopped, speaking to Yang Haoran again. This time, not only was his tone highly impolite, but his words also grew nasty.

Yang Haoran paid him no mind, stepping forward with his smile, looking as if he were leisurely strolling through his own backyard.

Ignored by Yang Haoran, the man looked as if he had suffered an immense insult, his face instantly flushing crimson with rage.

"I'm warning you one last time: take another step forward, and don't blame me for being impolite!"

The man raised his voice, his words thick with menace. Yet, Yang Haoran didn't take his threats seriously in the slightest, his steps unwavering.

Seeing Yang Haoran disregard his warning and approach him ever closer, the man's eyes blazed with fury. He immediately pulled his Talisman Pouch from his waist, then, with a flick of his wrist, unleashed several Talismans towards Yang Haoran.

Yang Haoran's blatant disregard made the man feel utterly humiliated. Consumed by rage, he had but one thought: to make Yang Haoran pay a bloody price for his insolence.

As the two were not far apart, and the Talismans were quite fast, these few talismans instantly appeared before Yang Haoran under the man's control.

Just as the talismans were about to strike Yang Haoran's body, a clanking sound suddenly erupted. Several black chains, thick as arms, appeared out of thin air, rapidly coiling around Yang Haoran's body, forming a peculiar shield. The swiftly incoming talismans were perfectly blocked by this chain-formed defense.

Bang bang bang!

Several muffled thuds rang out almost simultaneously. The moment these talismans struck the barrier, before they could even unleash their intended power, they were shattered by the force emanating from the chains, turning into ashes.

The man had unleashed several talismans, intending to vent his fury and teach this Underworld Office fellow Yang Haoran a lesson, to show him that this was no place for Yang Haoran to act wild. But what he hadn't expected was that his talismans not only failed to harm Yang Haoran but didn't even shake the chain-formed shield in the slightest.

The scene before him left the man's face etched with astonishment. Judging by his expression, he truly hadn't anticipated Yang Haoran's strength to be so formidable.

Yang Haoran didn't halt his steps because of the man's attack. It was only when he brushed past the man that the latter snapped out of his astonishment.

After recovering, the man didn't develop any fear towards Yang Haoran; on the contrary, the anger in his heart intensified.

He truly hadn't expected Yang Haoran's strength to be so potent, effortlessly nullifying the talismans he had unleashed. However, this was no reason for him to fear Yang Haoran.

This was the Talisman Order, and he was an Ancheng Talisman Master. In his view, he had no reason to fear Yang Haoran. So what if Yang Haoran possessed some ability? Would he dare to actively attack him?

"You stop right there, you bastard! This is the Talisman Order, not your Underworld Office!"

The man roared loudly at Yang Haoran, and with a flash of his figure, he once again appeared in front of Yang Haoran, blocking his way.

"As long as I'm here today, don't even think about stepping half a pace into our Talisman Order temple! Since you're so capable, why don't you try attacking me? Don't hide inside a shield like a cowering turtle!"

Yang Haoran's steps, which had never paused, finally halted at that very moment under the man's shouting. By then, he was less than a meter away from the man.

Seeing Yang Haoran stop, the man assumed his threats had worked. So, he threatened him again, hoping to force Yang Haoran to retreat this way. That way, he would not only prevent Yang Haoran from entering the Talisman Ancestor temple but also save his own face, killing two birds with one stone.

"If you're so capable, then touch me! Better yet, hit me in the head, or I'll truly look down on you! If you don't dare, then scram back to your Death God Temple!"

As the man spoke, he even pointed to his own head, looking exactly like a street thug taunting during a fight, confident that the other party wouldn't dare to strike.

Unfortunately for him, while he believed he had Yang Haoran cornered, Yang Haoran didn't take him seriously at all.

"Did you think I stopped because your threats worked?"

The man had expected Yang Haoran to spew some harsh words at him before slinking away, but he hadn't anticipated Yang Haoran suddenly asking him such a question.

"The reason I stopped was merely to give you one last chance. But since you don't cherish it, you can't blame me. Since you insist so much that I hit your head, it would seem too petty of me not to oblige."

The moment his words fell, without any discernible movement from Yang Haoran, a black chain as thick as an arm suddenly appeared out of thin air.

A sense of danger rose from the man's heart. He realized something was terribly wrong, and panic instantly seized him. In this situation, how could he possibly remember the bold words he had just uttered? Seeing that Yang Haoran truly dared to attack him, his first thought was to immediately dodge, rather than allow Yang Haoran to strike him.

Unfortunately, his reaction speed was still too slow. Just as he attempted to dodge, the suddenly appearing chain had already whipped violently across his head.

Bang! ! !

The man felt nothing but a dizzying sensation, his entire being immediately losing consciousness. In the split second before losing awareness, he felt as though he had flown into the air.

Indeed, he had flown—very high, and very far.

The moment the chain whipped his head, his entire body was sent flying, crashing into a stone pillar beside the temple's main gate behind him. The immense impact instantly shattered the colossal stone pillar, burying the man, who was now bleeding from his head and completely unconscious, beneath the rubble.

This strike was merely a casual one from Yang Haoran; he hadn't used his full power. Whether the man would survive this blow, however, depended entirely on his fate.

With the stone pillar shattered, the area around the temple's main gate was naturally significantly affected. Such a loud commotion not only startled the ordinary people who had come to burn incense and pray but also alarmed the other Talisman Masters within the temple.

"Night God Under the Moon" will continue to update its error-free chapters.
