Chapter 925: Target Guan Hai

After a period of healing, Old Master Wu's emotions gradually stabilized.

The death of Wu Junior was a huge blow to him. Even as his emotions slowly returned to normal, he hadn't fully recovered from the grief; he felt both longing and guilt for his youngest son.

However, he didn't let this hinder his work. Once his emotions steadied, he resumed his duties at the Lecheng Underworld Office.

With Old Master Wu taking over the Lecheng Underworld Office, Yang Haoran naturally returned to his role as a hands-off manager. After refining all the souls he had on hand into Soul Pills, he didn't immediately stay in the villa to cultivate them and enhance his strength. Instead, he made a trip to the Underworld.

He still had quite a few souls to hand over, especially the souls of Spirit Mediums, which could fetch a good many rewards. So, he went to submit these souls and, of course, received his deserved rewards.

After dealing with the souls, he headed to the Jingran Pharmacy. Feng Xiao had already concocted a batch of medicines, which he needed to deliver for sale. At the same time, he wanted to see how the Jingran Pharmacy's business was faring.

Since the Jingran Pharmacy was located in a remote area, its medicines were relatively cheaper, a strategy to attract more customers.

As there had been no advertising, and Yang Haoran lacked the financial means for it at the time, few people knew about Jingran Pharmacy. Consequently, business was almost nonexistent in the early days.

However, as time went by, Jingran Pharmacy gradually began to receive customers. While not exactly booming, the business was decent enough.

As a clerk, Ban Kui only needed to serve the incoming customers well; he didn't have to worry about anything else. It was just that his fierce-looking face often scared some timid customers, leading to minor misunderstandings.

As the manager, Gu Yi had far more to worry about than him. Since Gu Yi had never managed a shop or conducted any business before, there were some minor issues at first. Fortunately, she was a quick learner and adapted quickly, and the problems became fewer and fewer.

Apart from managing the shop, Gu Yi spent her other time reading to improve her professional knowledge and broaden her horizons.

Yang Haoran was quite satisfied with the shop's situation. Seeing that it was on the right track, he didn't linger. He paid the two their wages, offered them some encouragement, then left the medicines he'd brought and departed the Jingran Pharmacy with a portion of the sales revenue and some purchased spiritual herbs.

Before returning to the Mortal Realm, he used the list Feng Xiao gave him to purchase some spiritual herbs, then went to see Master Jiang, and finally returned to the Mortal Realm.

Upon returning to the Mortal Realm, Yang Haoran made another trip to Ancheng and delivered a batch of Soul Pills to Xu Meijing. At the time, Xu Meijing was both surprised and puzzled, unable to understand what on earth Yang Haoran was up to. Yang Haoran offered no further explanation, just chuckled and told Xu Meijing to simply accept the Soul Pills.

Yang Haoran wasn't willing to explain, and Xu Meijing didn't press for details. However, she didn't refuse Yang Haoran's good intentions and accepted the Soul Pills he offered.

Xu Meijing had known Yang Haoran for more than a day or two, so she was well aware of his personality. Since Yang Haoran specifically brought her Soul Pills, she thought it best not to refuse.

After returning from Ancheng, Yang Haoran secluded himself in his bedroom, cultivating the Soul Pills to enhance his strength.

Late one night, as Yang Haoran was refining Soul Pills in his room, he suddenly sensed something. His brow furrowed slightly, and he opened his eyes.

His reaction was due to sensing that someone nearby was in trouble. He was able to sense it because the Death God Pendant he had given away had triggered its protective shield.

Carefully sensing the exact location of the Death God Pendant, Yang Haoran's expression changed again, because the location was none other than Guan Hai's residence.

Although the residential complex where Guan Hai lived had been affected by the previous great chaos, it was relatively well-off compared to others, with minimal impact. Consequently, Guan Hai hadn't moved out of his original apartment.

For safety, Yang Haoran had once spoken to Guan Hai, urging him to move in with him. That way, Guan Hai and his wife's safety would be guaranteed, and if anything happened, Yang Haoran could step in to resolve it.

However, Guan Hai didn't agree. For one, he felt it would be inconvenient to live with Yang Haoran, especially since he already had his wife by then. If it were just him, he wouldn't mind.

Furthermore, to buy that marital home, the couple had emptied their savings, pieced together funds, and even borrowed money from Yang Haoran to successfully purchase it. He had invested too much in that house and therefore didn't want to leave it easily.

Yang Haoran had tried to persuade Guan Hai more than once, telling him that no matter how important a house was, it wasn't as important as one's life or the lives of one's family. But Guan Hai didn't heed his advice, instead stubbornly insisting on staying in the house he and his wife had bought.

After multiple failed attempts at persuasion, Yang Haoran could only respect Guan Hai's decision. However, there was one thing he couldn't understand: why was Guan Hai, usually so carefree and unburdened, so insistent on this matter?

In his opinion, perhaps Guan Hai had truly changed, and what had changed him was likely his marriage. But whether that was truly the case, he couldn't be certain; he only had such a suspicion.

Since Guan Hai insisted on not moving, Yang Haoran had no choice. Fortunately, Lecheng had become relatively safe after Zhu Rong took charge, with no more incidents of monsters devouring people in broad daylight. So, he gradually put his mind at ease.

He just hadn't expected that Guan Hai would still run into trouble this time.

Without the slightest hesitation, once he confirmed that Guan Hai was the one in distress, he immediately tore through space, and with a flash of his figure, he entered the spatial rift.

Although the villa was enveloped by a barrier, Yang Haoran had long since opened his Heaven and Earth Souls, so the restrictive barrier covering the villa could not affect his ability to tear through space.

It was late into the night. Aside from a few people still working, most had returned home to rest, as many tasks awaited them during the day.

Since Guan Hai was just an ordinary person, he had to accept assignments from the Administrative Courtyard during the day.

With his connection to Yang Haoran, he could have avoided doing anything at all. Yang Haoran had even considered making things easier for him, offering him a backdoor, but to Yang Haoran's exasperation, Guan Hai refused.

Yang Haoran had no choice but to let him be, resolving to intervene only if Guan Hai truly encountered serious trouble someday.

The location Yang Haoran sensed was Guan Hai's home, so after stepping into the spatial rift, he directly appeared inside Guan Hai's house.

Before stepping out of the spatial rift, the area he could perceive was limited, with blind spots in his vision. He hadn't found Guan Hai and his wife at the location where the Death God Pendant triggered its shield, so he couldn't ascertain if they were currently at home.

However, given the urgency of the situation, he disregarded everything else and materialized directly into Guan Hai's living room. Whether the couple was home or not, he would know the moment he stepped out of the barrier and sensed.

Yang Haoran was equally unsure if there was an ambush in the house, but he had considered it. Thus, he was not careless when exiting the spatial rift, instead maintaining a high level of vigilance.

Yet, after stepping out of the spatial rift, nothing happened. The imagined sneak attack never materialized. However, he did sense the presence of three life fluctuations, and all three emanated from a single room.

Before Yang Haoran could react to these three life fluctuations, a restrictive barrier suddenly appeared. This barrier was not circular or square; instead, it had merged with the four walls of Guan Hai's apartment.

In other words, this suddenly appearing restrictive barrier would only affect Guan Hai's apartment. As for his neighbors and other residents in the building, they would not be affected by the barrier.

"Heh heh, I didn't expect Divine Envoy Yang to be so righteous and loyal, not only did you really come, but you arrived so quickly."
