Chapter 923: Make Him Incapable of Retaliation
Han Fushi claimed his conditions were simple, but in reality, they were anything but. He had put forward several conditions, one after another, and each one was far from simple.
These conditions were a headache for Qin Yefeng, yet not entirely impossible to meet. Clearly, Han Fushi had meticulously selected them, pushing the limits of what Qin Yefeng could achieve, extracting every ounce of leverage within his capacity.
If there had only been one or two, he wouldn't have minded the trouble, considering it utterly insignificant compared to the prospect of annexing Lecheng. However, with all these conditions piled together, they would impose an immense burden on him, and even on the entire Ancheng Administrative Courtyard. Thus, after listening to all of Han Fushi's demands, the smile on his face became strained and unnatural.
The old man and the young woman behind Qin Yefeng reacted differently after hearing all of Han Fushi's conditions.
The old man merely furrowed his brows, showing no strong reaction. The young woman, however, reacted much more strongly, a clear expression of anger appearing on her face. Her dissatisfaction with Han Fushi was completely written across her features. Yet, due to their respective statuses, she did not voice her displeasure.
Han Fushi naturally paid no mind to what the old man and the young woman were thinking at that moment. In his eyes, they were not on the same level as him, and there was no need for him to care about their opinions of him.
However, he still needed to consider Qin Yefeng's perspective. After all, only Qin Yefeng could satisfy these conditions. If he disregarded Qin Yefeng's views, and the deal fell through, Qin Yefeng would certainly suffer a loss, but he, too, would gain nothing. His purpose for coming here today was not to fall out with Qin Yefeng; it was to maximize his gains. Therefore, seeing Qin Yefeng's strained smile, he immediately offered a persuasive smile.
"Administrative Chief, although my conditions are perhaps one or two more than you expected, if you think carefully, you'll find that none of them are excessive. Compared to the entire Lecheng, what are these few conditions of mine? " Han Fushi said to Qin Yefeng with a smile.
"Haha, so that's what the Administrative Chief is worried about. As long as the Administrative Chief agrees to my previous conditions, I can offer the Administrative Chief some ideas that will certainly be of great help in taking Lecheng," Han Fushi said with a laugh.
Qin Yefeng, who had been wearing a bitter smile, instantly changed expression upon hearing Han Fushi's words, his spirits lifting.
"Please speak, Han Fushi. If it can truly help me, even if I have to smash my pots and sell my iron, I will satisfy all of your previous conditions! " Qin Yefeng declared.
Han Fushi chuckled, looking confident. He raised his wine glass and clinked it with Qin Yefeng's before continuing.
"I have some understanding of the major forces in Lecheng. Besides the Talisman Cult, in my eyes, only the Underworld Office and the Holy Mother Cult have any real strength; the others are just a disorganized rabble, not worth mentioning. The Holy Mother Cult is a peace-loving faction. Even if they can't become your allies, they won't become your enemies. This isn't determined by personal feelings, but by their doctrine. So, at that time, you just need to find a way to contain them and prevent them from causing trouble."
Han Fushi paused, and Qin Yefeng quickly asked, "Then how should we deal with the Underworld Office?"
What Qin Yefeng was most worried about at the moment was actually the Underworld Office. If Han Fushi had a way to deal with the Underworld Office, or rather, to deal with Yang Haoran, the Emissary of Death for the Lecheng Underworld Office, then everything would be much simpler.
To deal with Yang Haoran, Qin Yefeng had gone to great lengths. He first sent people to communicate with Yang Haoran, but he didn't get the desired result; Yang Haoran even told him to abandon the attack on Lecheng.
After that, he sent people to find Xu Meijing, the Emissary of Death for the Ancheng Underworld Office, hoping Xu Meijing could intervene and persuade Yang Haoran. After all, they were both Underworld Officials, and having Xu Meijing mediate would naturally be more effective.
But the result left him even more speechless. The people he sent initially couldn't even get to see Xu Meijing. After finally finding a way to contact her, Xu Meijing didn't agree to his request, directly telling him that she couldn't help. After multiple fruitless attempts, he could only, with a heart full of resentment, abandon the idea of seeking Xu Meijing's help and stop sending people to persuade Yang Haoran.
"I can't control the Lecheng Underworld Office, nor can I find connections to put pressure on him. However, not being able to find connections to pressure him doesn't mean there aren't other ways to pressure him, or rather, to threaten him. Everyone has a soft spot. As long as you grasp their weakness, it will be difficult for them not to be led by the nose. I'm sure the Administrative Chief understands what I mean," Han Fushi said with a smile.
Qin Yefeng had thought Han Fushi would offer him some brilliant idea, but he didn't expect it to be something like this. This made him somewhat disappointed for a moment, and the expectation on his face vanished, replaced by a bitter smile.
"What Han Fushi said, I also considered at the time. However, once that's done, we'll have completely ripped off all pretense with Yang Haoran, and then he will certainly retaliate, making things even more troublesome. Moreover, I can't guarantee that the target I'm aiming for will successfully blackmail him."
Han Fushi shook his head, clearly disapproving of Qin Yefeng's line of thinking.
"When doing great things, you shouldn't be so cautious and indecisive. Since Yang Haoran isn't cooperating, then when you attack Lecheng, he will still become your enemy. Since he'll become your enemy no matter what, do you still care about ripping off all pretense with him?"
Probed by Han Fushi, Qin Yefeng couldn't help but frown slightly. Upon closer thought, it did seem to be true.
Han Fushi saw that Qin Yefeng was silent, so he drank a glass of wine on his own, then continued with a chuckle.
"Heh heh, if you're worried about his retaliation afterward, just figure out a way to make him incapable of retaliating, wouldn't that settle everything once and for all?"
Qin Yefeng's expression shifted slightly at his words.
"Han Fushi means. . ."
Han Fushi let out a hearty laugh, not directly answering Qin Yefeng's question.
"I don't mean anything else, what else could I mean? Haha, come, drink. Let's have another before we talk."
Although Han Fushi didn't say it explicitly, Qin Yefeng naturally understood what his words implied: to avoid retaliation from Yang Haoran afterward, the best way was to quietly eliminate him without a trace.
If Yang Haoran's soul were to be scattered, he naturally wouldn't be able to retaliate against him. And his subordinates, not knowing who killed Yang Haoran, wouldn't be able to seek revenge even if they wanted to.
However, killing Yang Haoran wasn't that simple, and quietly eliminating him was even more difficult. If Yang Haoran could be easily removed, then Lecheng's Spirit Mediums wouldn't have been exterminated in the first place.
After downing a glass of wine, Han Fushi skipped the previous question entirely and brought the topic back to whether Qin Yefeng would agree to his conditions.
"Heh heh, how are your thoughts, Administrative Chief? Are you willing to agree to my small conditions?"
Qin Yefeng didn't immediately reply. After pondering for a moment, he responded, "I can agree to all of Han Fushi's conditions and will find a way to complete them in the shortest possible time. However, I also have a condition."
Upon hearing that Qin Yefeng actually had a condition, Han Fushi immediately became displeased. He was afraid Qin Yefeng hadn't grasped the situation yet, so he wanted to remind him of his current predicament: it was Qin Yefeng who was asking for favors, not Han Fushi.
However, just as he was about to speak to Qin Yefeng, he noticed that Qin Yefeng's expression was now solemn; the smile that had been on his face had disappeared at some point. Seeing Qin Yefeng's serious demeanor, Han Fushi, who had intended to give Qin Yefeng a reminder, paused slightly. He swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue, then changed his mind, deciding it would be better for him to compromise, lest he ruin this deal.
"Haha, Administrative Chief, feel free to state your condition. We are all on the same side, there's no need to be polite!"
