Chapter 892: Confirming the Realm
Back at the Lecheng villa, Yang Haoran found Feng Xiao in the alchemy room.
Feng Xiao was still her usual self, refining pills in the alchemy room, though compared to before, she was now refining with even greater fervor.
She was like this, of course, because Yang Haoran had opened a pharmacy in the Underworld. If she didn't refine more medicines within the limited time, what if the Underworld's pharmacy ran out of stock?
Therefore, to ensure the pharmacy had a sufficient supply of goods, she could only work harder than before.
While refining the pills, she sensed Yang Haoran's arrival, but she did not leave the alchemy furnace, remaining quietly cross-legged before it.
Her current batch of pills was at a critical stage of refinement; if she stopped now, all her previous efforts might go to waste. So, she paid no mind to Yang Haoran.
Seeing this, Yang Haoran understood the situation. He didn't disturb Feng Xiao; instead, he found a random spot to sit down, pondering things while waiting for her to finish refining the pills.
Feng Xiao didn't make him wait too long. About half an hour later, she finished refining her pills and came before Yang Haoran.
"No, I've long mastered this kind of pill, so failures are practically nonexistent during its refinement," Feng Xiao replied, smiling.
"That's good. If it had truly failed, I'd say it most likely couldn't be unrelated to me," Yang Haoran said with a chuckle.
Feng Xiao merely smiled shyly without speaking. Yang Haoran, meanwhile, retrieved the spirit herbs and various medicines he'd brought back from the Underworld, taking them from his independent space.
"I've bought back all the spirit herbs you asked for. See if they meet your standards," Yang Haoran said with a smile.
Feng Xiao didn't overthink it. After nodding, she carefully inspected the spirit herbs.
Before Yang Haoran opened the pharmacy, Feng Xiao didn't need to mass-produce various medicines, so the spirit herbs she cultivated herself were entirely sufficient. But now, with the pharmacy open, the situation was vastly different. The meager amount of spirit herbs she grew was clearly not enough, which was why she had to ask Yang Haoran to purchase some from the Underworld.
A moment later, Feng Xiao finished her inspection and turned her gaze back to Yang Haoran.
"No problem, these spirit herbs all meet my requirements. However, they must not have been cheap, right? Although I've never bought spirit herbs myself, I once heard my master say that spirit herbs are sold at very high prices. The more precious the spirit herb, the more astonishing its selling price. Some spirit herbs even have market but no price, meaning you can't necessarily buy them even with all the money in the world," Feng Xiao said.
Upon hearing this, Yang Haoran pondered for a moment before speaking to Feng Xiao.
"It's certain that these spirit herbs are expensive, but please don't let that create any mental burden for you. You have me for everything."
Yang Haoran spoke with a smile. He had originally intended to deceive Feng Xiao by saying the spirit herbs weren't expensive, but he figured she wouldn't believe such a clumsy lie, so he simply told her the truth.
"Brother Yang, don't worry, I will do my utmost to refine them into various medicines. As long as there are no failures, there will be no loss," Feng Xiao assured Yang Haoran.
"Heh heh, I believe you. But still, the same old saying: don't carry too much of a mental burden. Just refine them as you usually do; don't put too much pressure on yourself," Yang Haoran said with a smile.
Feng Xiao nodded emphatically, then turned her attention to the medicines Yang Haoran had brought back from the Underworld.
"Brother Yang, what are these medicines for?"
Seeing the puzzled expression on Feng Xiao's face, Yang Haoran explained with a smile.
"I originally planned to buy some pill recipes from the Underworld for you, but not only were their prices ridiculously exorbitant, they were also just very common recipes. So, I gave up on buying recipes and instead bought these medicines back for you to study. Perhaps they might give you some inspiration, who knows?"
Yang Haoran didn't understand pills, for he wasn't a Pharmacist. So, even if you gave him a pill or a drop of medicinal liquid, all he could do was judge its quality and efficacy. If you asked him to analyze how the pill was refined, he certainly wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of it.
This was akin to someone who couldn't cook going to a restaurant: they could smell the dish's aroma and taste its flavor, thereby judging if it was delicious or not. But if you asked them to explain how the dish was made, they would certainly look utterly bewildered.
However, while an amateur merely watches the fun, an expert understands the intricacies. Yang Haoran might not grasp some of the profound mysteries of pills and medicinal liquids, but that didn't mean Feng Xiao, as a Pharmacist, couldn't.
Hearing this, Feng Xiao again focused her gaze on the medicines.
"Brother Yang, do you want me to study these medicines and then develop similar ones? " Feng Xiao asked.
"Precisely, that's what I had in mind. Because only this way can we have a rich supply of medicines without pill recipes," Yang Haoran said with a smile.
"This task is quite difficult, and its complexity likely far exceeds what Brother Yang imagines. Moreover, this approach consumes a great deal of spirit herbs, as it requires constant experimentation and learning from failures. This means a terrifying quantity of spirit herbs will be expended; without a large supply of spirit herbs as a backing, success is simply impossible," Feng Xiao said.
"Heh heh, you don't need to tell me that; I understand. If one could replicate medicines they knew nothing about just by examining a single pill or a drop of medicinal liquid, then what would be the point of pill recipes? Again, the same old saying: go ahead and do it freely. Tell me what you need, and I'll find every way to satisfy you," Yang Haoran said with a smile.
"Alright, I will definitely do my best, Brother Yang, please rest assured," Feng Xiao promised.
"Of course, I have absolute confidence in you. I've never doubted your character or your abilities. Oh, by the way, unleash all your power. I want to see how strong you are now."
Although Feng Xiao didn't know what Yang Haoran intended, she still unleashed all her power as he requested.
A surging, powerful force erupted from within Feng Xiao. Yang Haoran sensed it and found that the power fluctuations emanating from her could indeed rival those of an Underworld Officer who had opened their Heaven Soul. While she couldn't compare to the strongest beings at that realm, the gap between her and an average Underworld Officer at that level wasn't large.
Of course, this merely indicated that the power within Feng Xiao had reached this level; it didn't fully represent the strength or weakness of her combat ability. Whether one's combat power was strong or weak involved many factors, and internal power was only one part of it.
At this moment, Yang Haoran didn't concern himself with whether Feng Xiao's combat power was strong or weak. What he cared about was that Feng Xiao had indeed entered the Medicine Spirit realm.
"Heh heh, congratulations on successfully entering the Medicine Spirit realm. To my shame, I didn't even know when you broke through, so I couldn't congratulate you immediately," Yang Haoran said with a smile.
Feng Xiao, with a bewildered expression, withdrew her power fluctuations, then asked in confusion.
"Medicine Spirit realm? What's that?"
Yang Haoran knew that Feng Xiao was unfamiliar with this aspect, so he thoroughly explained the realms of Pharmacists and the distinctions in medicine grades to her.
After listening to Yang Haoran's explanation, Feng Xiao, a Pharmacist who had already entered the Medicine Spirit realm, finally gained an understanding of the most basic common knowledge regarding Pharmacists and medicines. Had this matter not occurred right before his eyes, Yang Haoran would have found it hard to believe such an incredible thing existed in this world.
"I've always been unaware of this aspect, so I didn't know when I broke through. However, I can refine a pill that increases the power within my body. My master repeatedly instructed me that I must take this pill at regular intervals to enhance my internal power, because only by increasing my internal power can I better remove impurities from the medicines during refinement and improve their quality. I think my breakthrough to the Medicine Spirit realm should be directly related to this power-boosting pill."
Feng Xiao's words made Yang Haoran's eyes light up. He seemed to have thought of something, so he asked Feng Xiao,
"If Bai Xue and Ye Zhiqiu were to take this power-boosting pill of yours, would it have any effect?"
