Chapter 768: Battle of the Dharma Bodies (Part 1)
From Xu Meijing's current state, the Great Spirit Caller knew she was no longer affected by the Howling Ghosts and Wailing Wolves.
He wasn't surprised by this; while the Howling Ghosts and Wailing Wolves possessed astonishing destructive power, its drawback was equally apparent: as long as one reacted quickly enough to block their ears and prevent the piercing screams from entering, the art would cease to be lethal.
Though unsurprised, he felt a deep sense of regret and pity. If Xu Meijing's reaction had been even slightly slower, her physical body would have sustained far greater damage, making his task of dealing with her considerably simpler.
The piercing wails of the Howling Ghosts and Wailing Wolves persisted, but they held no meaning for Xu Meijing now. He, of course, no longer expected this Spiritual Art to inflict any further harm upon her.
The two silently stared at each other for several seconds. Neither wasted a word. Then, as if by unspoken agreement, they both performed the same action: forming hand seals!
With a grim expression, the Great Spirit Caller closed his eyes tightly once more. His hands rapidly formed seals. Aided by the Dānyào and his deliberate refinement of them, his physical body and his Communication Power had recovered to a certain extent.
It was precisely because of this that he could unleash his next move.
Xu Meijing plunged her Life Ender into the ground, then likewise closed her eyes and rapidly formed hand seals.
In such a condition, if she chose close combat, her injuries would severely compromise her attack power and speed. However, she still had a significant amount of Spirit Power remaining, so she decided to use a Ghost Art against the Great Spirit Caller.
Moreover, there was some distance between her and the Great Spirit Caller. She couldn't guarantee that she could close in and deliver an effective attack before the Great Spirit Caller finished his hand seals.
As her hands rapidly formed seals, the black mask on her face twisted. Her blood-stained cherry lips were once again covered by the mask, shielding her entire face except for her eyes.
Both formed hand seals in unison, their thoughts remarkably similar. They both intended to unleash their most powerful technique to slay the other with a single strike.
This synchronized thought arose because both were currently quite weak, their physical conditions poor. They knew that dragging the fight out would be to their disadvantage. Both had consumed recovery medicine, but neither was certain if the other's medicine surpassed their own. Thus, they decided to unleash their strongest attack while their power was not yet depleted.
If this strike could slay their opponent, all the better. If not, the opponent's injuries would certainly worsen, making them easier to deal with.
Both rapidly formed hand seals, for each wanted to unleash their move before the other, thereby seizing the initiative. They pushed their sealing speed to the absolute limit.
Only a few short seconds passed before both simultaneously opened their eyes, their hand-sealing movements halting at the exact same moment!
"Spirit Aspect! ! !"
"Death God's Law Aspect! ! !"
Summoning a Dharma Body was currently the strongest technique either of them could unleash. As using this technique incurred a considerable drain on one's own power, neither was willing to employ it unless absolutely necessary.
As their voices rang out, the space above them suddenly rippled violently. Two colossal entities rapidly coalesced. In but an instant, two massive Dharma Bodies successfully formed, hovering in the air like two towering mountains.
Xu Meijing's ability to summon the Death God's Law Aspect was unsurprising, given that she was an Underworld Official.
However, for this Great Spirit Caller to be able to unleash a Spirit Aspect? That was no simple feat.
There were many Spirit Mediums throughout the New Beginning Realm, but not all of them could wield a Spirit Aspect. Only Spirit Mediums who worshipped the Spirit God were capable of obtaining this secret Spiritual Art.
Since this Great Spirit Caller could unleash a Spirit Aspect, it strongly suggested he was a devout follower of the Spirit God.
If that were true, then this Great Spirit Caller's status within their collective was undoubtedly high. After all, a Great Spirit Caller was far beyond what an ordinary Spirit Master or Spirit Medium could compare to; he was certainly no mere minion.
Both sought to seize the initiative. Thus, the moment their Dharma Bodies fully coalesced, the two colossal figures, under their respective control, instantly sprang into action.
Xu Meijing did not directly command the Death God's Law Aspect to attack the Great Spirit Caller. Similarly, the Great Spirit Caller did not directly command his Spirit Aspect to strike Xu Meijing.
This was because both were currently fully concentrating on controlling their Dharma Bodies, daring not to be distracted in the slightest. If either had commanded their Dharma Body to directly attack the other, the only outcome would have been mutual destruction.
If one party commanded their Dharma Body to attack the spellcaster while the other commanded theirs to attack the opposing Dharma Body, then the Dharma Body assaulting the spellcaster would likely be struck by the opponent's Dharma Body before it could successfully hit its target. Not only would it fail to slay the spellcaster, but its own Dharma Body would also take a direct hit and suffer heavy damage, greatly impacting the final result.
In such a scenario, the side that chose to attack the spellcaster would have a high probability of defeat.
Neither wanted mutual destruction, nor did they wish to be defeated. Thus, they chose the same method of attack: to disperse the Dharma Body manifested by the other. As long as one's opponent's Dharma Body was dealt with, the scales of victory would tip heavily in their favor.
The two mountain-like Dharma Bodies simultaneously raised their arms, then slammed a palm towards each other.
Given Xu Meijing and the Great Spirit Caller's cultivation realms, the speed at which they controlled their Dharma Bodies was far greater than Yang Haoran's. While not quite lightning-fast, it was comparable to an ordinary person's punching or palm-striking speed.

In the blink of an eye, the two colossal palms collided. With a deafening boom, heaven and earth trembled. Berserk airwaves furiously spread outwards, yet the two Dharma Bodies remained utterly unmoving. No matter how violent the waves of power, they could not shake their massive, mountain-like forms.
Though the two Dharma Bodies remained unaffected, the mountain peak beneath them suffered greatly.
The vegetation on the mountain's summit was instantly obliterated by the berserk force, and the mountain itself shuddered, sending numerous rocks tumbling down.
With that palm strike, neither side gained the upper hand. However, the battle between their Dharma Bodies had only just begun; this palm was merely the prelude, not the conclusion.
The Great Spirit Caller's brows furrowed deeply. A single palm strike hadn't shaken the Death God's Law Aspect in the slightest. He prepared to command his Dharma Body to retract its hand, then attack the Death God's Law Aspect again from a different angle.
However, at that very moment, the Death God's Law Aspect suddenly raised its other hand, unleashing a palm strike directly at the Spirit Aspect he controlled.
Alarmed, he could only hastily command his Spirit Aspect to raise its other palm, meeting the Death God's Law Aspect's incoming strike.
Boom! ! !
Their palms collided once more, erupting in a deafening crash. The spreading waves of power were no weaker than those of the previous strike.
The violently shaking mountain peak below had not yet stabilized. Once again caught in the berserk power waves, it suffered even greater immediate impact. It was no longer merely a matter of falling rocks; signs of impending collapse had even begun to appear.
In their second clash, neither Dharma Body gained the upper hand. After the collision, both remained suspended high in the sky, utterly still.
Although the two collisions between the Dharma Bodies appeared to be a draw, subtle changes had already occurred within the spellcasters controlling them the moment their palms met.
Xu Meijing appeared more composed, her reaction speed also quicker.
The Great Spirit Caller, however, seemed more anxious, his reaction speed slower.
In the first palm collision between the Dharma Bodies, both sides had struck almost simultaneously, each aiming to seize the initiative.
But during the second Dharma Body collision, things changed. The Great Spirit Caller intended to retract his palm and attack the Death God's Law Aspect again from a different angle.
Xu Meijing's thoughts, however, were completely different from his. She directly commanded the Death God's Law Aspect to attack the Spirit Aspect with its other hand. This attack allowed her to seize the initiative.
After successfully parrying the Death God's Law Aspect's second palm strike with his Spirit Aspect, the Great Spirit Caller felt his qi and blood surge within him, an impulse to vomit blood rising. Before he could even catch his breath, the Death God's Law Aspect raised its third arm!
