Chapter 707 - Evil Spirit Devouring Heart

Yang Haoran set up a restrictive barrier, but the Old Town Head remained calm and unhurried, even having the presence of mind to reprimand the Spirit Medium behind him.

Judging by his reaction, he didn't seem to take the restrictive barrier Yang Haoran had set up seriously, or rather, he didn't take Yang Haoran seriously at all.

However, immediately afterward, the smile on his face froze. His gaze, directed at Yang Haoran, was filled with shock and disbelief.

Under his watchful gaze, a plume of black smoke suddenly rose from Yang Haoran's body. His entire person was enveloped in this dense black smoke. This visible black smoke was precisely the manifestation of Yin Qi, concentrated to a certain degree.

By now, night had fallen. The bright moon hung high. Although this moon couldn't illuminate the entire depths of the old mountain forest, the area was situated in a mountain hollow. Coupled with the trees in the vicinity having been destroyed by the recent battle, with no obstructions left, the moonlight that spilled down still provided a certain degree of visibility.

Moreover, none of the three present were ordinary people. Their vision surpassed that of common mortals. Thus, both the Old Town Head and the Spirit Medium clearly saw Yang Haoran's transformation.

Besides the visible changes, both could also sense the powerful energy fluctuations erupting from Yang Haoran's body. The intensity of these energy fluctuations showed a vast difference compared to before.

Both knew that Yang Haoran had now opened his Heaven Soul.

However, what they didn't know was, Yang Haoran had merely opened his Heaven Soul, and had not yet pushed his power to its absolute limit.

The two were still in shock. A warning shout suddenly rang out at this moment, jolting the shocked pair back to their senses.

"Watch out!"

The instant the warning sounded, the ground in front of them trembled violently. Subsequently, large amounts of earth, rocks, and broken trees flew into the air, rapidly coalescing together, forming a unique wall in front of them.

This unique wall was naturally intended to protect the Old Town Head and the Spirit Medium. The one who acted was the Old Town Head's Guardian Spirit.

This Guardian Spirit truly had some ability and reacted quite well. While the Old Town Head and the Spirit Medium were still stunned by the sheer power of the energy fluctuations erupting from Yang Haoran, it sensed the danger, and thus immediately pushed its ability to control objects to the extreme, forming a unique wall in front of them, hoping to use this method to protect the two.

However, although its senses were keen and its reaction timely, the defensive power of this unique wall, formed in an instant, was quite limited. With a dull thud, a black light pierced through the wall, shooting rapidly towards the Old Town Head behind it.

The defensive measure instantly conjured by the Guardian Spirit's object-controlling ability, simply couldn't block this black light. It only managed to stop it for a single instant before being pierced through by the black light.

The Old Town Head had no idea what this suddenly appearing black light was. But he sensed powerful Spirit Power emanating from it. If he were hit by this black light, the consequences would be unimaginable. It was certain he would be injured, so without even thinking, he immediately dodged with the fastest possible speed.

Don't let the Old Town Head's age fool you; his movements were quite nimble. His speed was also remarkably swift. With a flicker of his body, he vanished from his original spot.

The very instant his body disappeared from its original position, the black light shot past the spot where he had been. If not for his Guardian Spirit's intervention, blocking the black light for that single moment, his body would undoubtedly have been struck by the black light. As for whether he would have lived or died after being hit, that would be hard to say.

The Old Town Head narrowly avoided the black light, breaking out in a cold sweat. However, the Spirit Medium behind him suffered. He was directly pierced through the body by the black light.

This Spirit Medium had already been beaten half to death by Yang Haoran. His physical condition was extremely poor. Under these circumstances, he simply lacked the ability to dodge the lightning-fast black light.

Let alone his body being severely injured, even if he had been in his prime, with no injuries whatsoever, facing such a sudden and fast-moving black light, he still wouldn't have been able to dodge it.

Blood spurted. The Spirit Medium's body was cut in half at the waist. With a look of shock still on his face, his severed body fell to the ground in two pieces. Until his dying breath, he couldn't figure out what that black light truly was.

As the Spirit Medium's corpse hit the ground, the rocks, earth, and broken trees in the air also fell one after another, continuously making various sounds as they struck the ground.

The black light that slew the Spirit Medium was, of course, Yang Haoran's Soul Armament, Remnant Moon. In fact, the Spirit Medium did not die unjustly, because he was also a target Yang Haoran intended to kill with this strike.

Yang Haoran, having opened his Heaven Soul, controlled his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, to launch a sudden attack. He already had a plan in mind.

If he could kill the Old Town Head with a single strike, or severely wound him, that would naturally be the best outcome.

If the Old Town Head successfully dodged, then the Spirit Medium behind him would surely not survive. It would be good to eliminate the Spirit Medium behind him ahead of time, to prevent him from launching sneaky attacks from the rear.

Without achieving the best outcome, settling for the second-best was also acceptable. At least this way, there was one less enemy.

After slaying the Spirit Medium, Remnant Moon abruptly stopped in mid-air. Then, it once again transformed into a black light, turning around and shooting rapidly towards the Old Town Head.

This time, both the Old Town Head and his Guardian Spirit were prepared. So they were no longer as passive as before.

The Old Town Head's body flickered and disappeared from his original spot. While dodging Remnant Moon's attack, his withered, skeletal hands quickly formed seals.

The Old Town Head's Guardian Spirit wasn't idle either. Its spirit body transformed into a mass of Yin Qi. At this moment, it charged towards Yang Haoran.

"Oh, Emissary Yang, your sneak attack was truly well-played. This old man almost fell for it."

The Old Town Head dodged, formed seals, and taunted all at once. He wanted to use this method to disrupt Yang Haoran's focus.

Just as these words left his mouth, an explosion rang out from Yang Haoran's position.

The reason the Guardian Spirit charged at Yang Haoran, was to possess him and control Yang Haoran's body. Even if it only managed to control Yang Haoran's body for a single instant, that would be enough to decide the outcome of this struggle.

Yang Haoran naturally understood what the Guardian Spirit was planning. He had been dealing with ghostly entities for years now. How could he not see through the Guardian Spirit's intentions? So, just as the Guardian Spirit was about to approach him, several chains, condensed from Spirit Power, suddenly appeared, wrapping themselves around the incoming Guardian Spirit.

The chains appeared very suddenly. The Guardian Spirit was completely unable to dodge effectively. Its spirit body was instantly bound tightly by the chains. However, ordinary chains formed from Spirit Power had limited power, and the Old Town Head's Guardian Spirit was quite strong. The instant the chains bound the Guardian Spirit, the Guardian Spirit immediately used its own power to shatter the chains!

The explosion heard at this moment, was the sound of the Guardian Spirit shattering the chains.

"Compared to you, my sneak attack method is indeed a bit better. At least I killed a Spirit Medium. While your previous sneak attack hit nothing but air."

Yang Haoran controlled Remnant Moon to attack the Old Town Head, while simultaneously manipulating Spirit Power to deal with the Guardian Spirit trying to approach him again. While doing both of these things, he even had the composure to smile and retort to the Old Town Head.

"Heh heh, silver-tongued devil. When I capture you in a moment, I'll start by ripping out your tongue."

The Old Town Head scoffed. The hand seals he was forming abruptly ceased. A powerful energy fluctuation erupted from within his body.

"Spiritual Art, Evil Spirit Devouring Heart!"

A low voice emerged from the Old Town Head's mouth. A vast amount of Communication Power surged from his body. Streaks of Yin Qi rapidly gathered above his head. These streaks of Yin Qi were thick, each as wide as a bucket.

In just a few breaths, a ferocious-looking, enormous ghostly entity coalesced and took shape. This ghostly entity was massive, standing a full twenty meters tall. However, it differed fundamentally from a normal ghost. It was conjured through a Spiritual Art, a manifestation of the technique. Strictly speaking, it wasn't a true ghost; it could only be considered a ghost-like existence.

Although not a true ghost, its appearance was just as terrifying as a ghost's. For such entities, some called them evil ghosts, others vengeful ghosts; there were myriad names, each with its own designation.

After the evil ghost fully formed, it let out a horrifying grin. Then, its massive hand reached out and grabbed at Remnant Moon, which was currently attacking the Old Town Head!
