Chapter 618: Cruelty

The young woman was able to casually pin Yang Haoran and the others in place, sealing the power within their bodies. From this alone, it was clear that if she wished to slay Yang Haoran and the rest, it would require absolutely no effort on her part.

However, she did not do so. She didn't personally kill Yang Haoran and the others; instead, she instructed the Sunglasses Man and the Spirit Mediums present to torture them in an extreme manner.

Although the method she chose was somewhat cruel, to the Spirit Mediums, it was indeed incredibly satisfying.

The Sunglasses Man received his orders, then led the Spirit Mediums present down from the high platform. He did not immediately approach Yang Haoran or Boss Huo, who lay on the ground, but instead walked towards the nearest Exorcist.

This Exorcist was precisely the older, more hot-tempered of the two Exorcists.

The few individuals on Yang Haoran's side watched this scene unfold. Every single one of them paled in shock, but their bodies were unable to move, nor could they speak. Thus, they could only watch helplessly as the Sunglasses Man, accompanied by the still-living Spirit Mediums, approached the eldest Exorcist old man.

Watching the Sunglasses Man approach him step by step with an exaggerated smile, the old Exorcist's face turned incredibly grim, and a look of panic flashed in his eyes.

"Heh heh, do you know why I'm making an example of you first? " the Sunglasses Man asked with a sinister grin, stopping before the old Exorcist.

The old man could not speak, nor could he even respond with a gesture. The Sunglasses Man, of course, knew the old man couldn't answer him, because he had no intention of letting the old man answer his question at all.

"I'm making an example of you first because you're closest to me. If those two ghost dogs witness you all dying miserably, one by one, do you think they'll piss themselves?"

The Sunglasses Man spoke with a laugh. As he spoke, Yin Qi surged in his hand, and a sharp dagger materialized. With a cruel smile, he slowly plunged the dagger towards the old man's stomach.

The dagger cut through flesh, slowly being driven into his body by the Sunglasses Man. The panic in the old man's eyes intensified compared to before. He desperately tried to mobilize the power within his body, wanting to regain control, but no matter how much he tried, he couldn't break free from the young woman's hold, only managing to make his body tremble slightly.

With the dagger lodged in the body, the Sunglasses Man let out a chortle and stepped aside, winking at a Spirit Medium behind him.

"Your turn. Don't hold back."

Hearing this, the Spirit Medium behind him licked his dry lips. It was clear he was a little nervous, yet also somewhat excited. He stepped forward, yanked the dagger from the old man's stomach, ignored the blood gushing from the wound, and then forcefully plunged the dagger he held back into the old man's belly.

The next Spirit Master mimicked his recent actions, pulling out the dagger and plunging it back in. Unlike him, this Spirit Master was remarkably calm, quick, ruthless, and precise, not even blinking an eye.

After this Spirit Master, the other Spirit Mediums all repeated the same process, extracting and re-inserting the dagger into the old man's stomach. When the last Spirit Medium plunged his dagger into the old man's body, the old Exorcist finally ceased to show any signs of life.

This scene was witnessed by Yang Haoran and the others, though their expressions varied.

Boss Huo, lying prostrate on the ground, wore a grim expression. His brows were tightly furrowed, and his eyes glinted with a chilling coldness, his thoughts unknown.

Yang Haoran's expression was equally grim, his brows equally furrowed, but his eyes revealed neither coldness nor hatred. Instead, he watched the scene with unsettling calm.

Boss Huo's Demon Hunter friend, however, had a panicked look on his face, his eyes filled with anxiety. The Spirit Mediums' current actions had truly unsettled him.

As for the two female Talisman Masters, the mother's expression was one of unspeakable panic, but her panic wasn't for herself; it was for her daughter.

As for her daughter, her face was currently etched with terror. From a young age, she had been regarded as a genius, possessing immense talent in talisman arts. Combined with her parents' status, others were forced to treat her like the center of the universe, which fostered her arrogant and haughty personality.

However, she had never truly experienced any great storms in life. When confronted with a genuine life-or-death situation, her arrogance was utterly shattered.

If the enemy had simply moved to kill her directly, she wouldn't have been as terrified as she was now. But the Spirit Mediums' current actions subjected her to extreme mental torment, and what little courage she had to face death instantly vanished from her heart.

Among the group, the strongest reaction came from the other old Exorcist. His eyes were bloodshot, his body trembled, and his gaze towards the Sunglasses Man held no fear, only bone-deep hatred!

Confirming that the old Exorcist was indeed dead, the Sunglasses Man yanked out the dagger, then kicked his corpse to the ground. He flicked the blood from the dagger with a casual gesture, then made a signal to the Spirit Mediums present.

"Let's go, next one."

Led by the Sunglasses Man, they arrived before the other Exorcist. Seeing the old man's face contorted with fury, the Sunglasses Man's smile became even more exaggerated.

"Do you hate it? Are you very unwilling? Heh heh, the more you are, the more excited I get."

The Sunglasses Man chuckled, then used the same method to plunge the dagger into the old man's lower abdomen.

Having learned from the previous example, this time the Spirit Mediums moved much faster. One by one, they plunged their daggers, like a production line in a factory workshop, quickly stabbing the old man to death.

After the old man, it was the Demon Hunter's turn. Watching the Sunglasses Man stand before him with a sickly smile, the Demon Hunter's heart filled with despair and regret. If he had known this would happen, he wouldn't have come to join the fun.

No miracle occurred. The dagger plunged into his body. In a short while, his corpse was kicked to the ground by the Sunglasses Man. Lying in a pool of blood, his eyes were wide open, unwilling to close even in death.

After the Demon Hunter, the Sunglasses Man led the Spirit Mediums to the young female Talisman Master. By now, this female Talisman Master was utterly terrified, tears and snot streaming down her face. If she hadn't been unable to make a sound, she would surely have been wailing uncontrollably.

Gazing at the young female Talisman Master's terrified expression, the Sunglasses Man extended his tongue and licked the blood from the dagger, a look of pure enjoyment on his face.

"My, you're quite a beauty, with big, bright eyes. What a pity. Your eyes are pretty, yes, but they just can't see things clearly. The predicament you've fallen into is, ultimately, your eyes' fault. Tell you what, I'll do a good deed and avenge this for you."

As his words fell, under the young female Talisman Master's terrified and despairing gaze, the Sunglasses Man plunged the dagger directly into her left eye.

There was no scream, only an expression of agony and a trembling body.

The middle-aged woman beside her felt a wrenching pain in her heart. Her face was contorted in anguish, tears streaming down. Witnessing her daughter endure such torment, as a mother, she felt both profound pain and deep guilt.

If she hadn't brought her daughter to this operation tonight, this scene would never have unfolded. She felt as though she had caused her daughter's death, and thus her heart was filled with unspeakable pain, guilt, and self-reproach.

Watching the dagger plunge into her daughter's body, strike after strike, the middle-aged woman completely broke down. The moment the young female Talisman Master's corpse was kicked aside by the Sunglasses Man, the middle-aged woman's face was utterly distraught; her flesh might still be alive, but her heart had already died.

However, the time between her heart dying and her physical body's demise was not long, for after kicking away the young female Talisman Master's corpse, the Sunglasses Man arrived before her.

"The mother-daughter duo from the Cloud River City Talisman Order, I recognize you. You two beauties are indeed quite charming. What a pity, I'm not one for pitying fragrant jade and cherishing tender jade. I told you not to participate in tonight's war, but you just wouldn't believe me. Remember this: you caused your daughter's death."

As the Sunglasses Man spoke, he used the dagger to slowly carve up the middle-aged woman's face. By the time his words ceased, the middle-aged woman's face had been utterly shredded, yet she showed no change in expression from beginning to end, as if completely impervious to the pain emanating from her face.

The middle-aged woman's lack of reaction made the Sunglasses Man feel utterly bored, so he decided not to waste any more time on her. The dagger plunged into the middle-aged woman's body.

The other Spirit Mediums followed immediately. Without any surprise, the middle-aged woman met the same fate as the others.

Pulling out the dagger and kicking the corpse to the ground, the Sunglasses Man, accompanied by the other Spirit Mediums, arrived before Yang Haoran.
