Chapter 573: So It Was Him!

The man in the hat suddenly flashed into existence before him, yet Yang Haoran remained utterly calm and composed. A smile gracing his lips, he slowly rose from the ground.

<r>

"Heh heh, hello. I am Yang Haoran, the Emissary of Death of Lecheng. " Yang Haoran introduced himself with a smile, extending his hand towards the hat-wearing man before him.

<r>

"Heh heh, hello. I am Shi Kai, the Emissary of Death of Ningjiang City. " The hat-wearing man extended his hand to shake Yang Haoran's, and likewise offered a simple introduction.

<r>

This Emissary of Death, named Shi Kai, did not look old; he appeared only two or three years Yang Haoran's senior. However, as both were agents sanctioned by the Underworld Office, their bodies had undergone transformation, making it impossible to judge their true age by their appearance. Their looks could only indicate the age at which they became Emissaries of Death, not a reliable standard for judging their actual years or length of service.

<r>

Judging by Shi Kai's appearance, unless he was someone who looked older than his years, he likely became an Emissary of Death around the age of thirty-two or thirty-three, which was two or three years later than Yang Haoran.

<r>

However, how many years Shi Kai had been an Emissary of Death, or how long he had held this position, was impossible to ascertain.

<r>

But in Yang Haoran's estimation, Shi Kai had to be a veteran Emissary of Death, for he didn't believe Luo Yao would send a mere newcomer.

<r>

The power fluctuations emanating from Shi Kai were formidable, though this was only in the eyes of Night Watchers. In Yang Haoran's eyes, while certainly strong, they weren't enough to astonish him.

<r>

Of course, Yang Haoran wouldn't naively believe that this was Shi Kai's full strength. The power fluctuations he sensed from Shi Kai might merely be casually emitted, just the tip of the iceberg of Shi Kai's true power. What Shi Kai's actual strength was, he couldn't yet judge.

<r>

Upon their first meeting, Yang Haoran analyzed Shi Kai in his mind, while Shi Kai likewise sized up Yang Haoran. Though they lacked the warmth of old friends reuniting, both parties' attitudes were quite amiable; after all, they were both part of the same organization.

<r>

"The boss's order came too suddenly. I rushed over without much preparation and don't understand the current situation in Yunchuan City, so I'll have to trouble you, brother, to tell me about the situation here. " Shi Kai said with a smile to Yang Haoran.

<r>

His smile unchanged, Yang Haoran nodded and replied, "We're all on the same side, Emissary Shi, no need to be polite. Even if you hadn't asked, I would have informed you in detail about the current situation in Yunchuan City. However, the information I have is limited. The acting Emissary of Yunchuan City knows more than I do, so you and I will have to get more information from her."

<r>

Yang Haoran replied with a smile, then turned his gaze towards the elderly woman's position.

<r>

Shi Kai nodded with a smile, then addressed the elderly woman and the others, "You may rise. And you," he said, pointing to the elderly woman, "come over here for a moment."

<r>

As he finished speaking, Shi Kai pointed at the elderly woman, gesturing for her to approach.

<r>

The elderly woman dared not show the slightest delay. She quickly stood up, and leaning on her cane, walked towards Shi Kai and Yang Haoran's position.

<r>

"What are your orders, Sirs Emissaries? " the elderly woman asked respectfully.

<r>

By now, the elderly woman no longer doubted Yang Haoran's identity. Shi Kai's attitude towards Yang Haoran made the last shred of doubt in her heart vanish, and thus, when facing Yang Haoran now, she showed even greater deference.

<r>

"We want to know about the recent situation in the Yunchuan City Underworld Division. But before that, I must remind you: we are here to help you solve your problems. Therefore, I hope you will not conceal anything from us. Tell us everything you know, don't hold anything back, and you can even voice any thoughts you have. Do you understand what I mean? " Shi Kai asked the elderly woman.

<r>

When facing the elderly woman, Shi Kai dropped the smile from his face, his expression turning serious; he was like a completely different person compared to moments ago when he faced Yang Haoran.

<r>

He was polite to Yang Haoran because Yang Haoran was an Emissary of Death, just like him. In terms of status, they were equals, which was why Shi Kai behaved so courteously towards Yang Haoran.

<r>

The elderly woman's status was different. Though she was the second-in-command of the Yunchuan City Underworld Division, she was ultimately just a Night Watcher and not an Emissary of Death. Therefore, the attitude Shi Kai displayed when facing her was completely different.

<r>

Not everyone was like Yang Haoran, constantly maintaining a smile no matter who they faced. Such individuals were, after all, a minority; the vast majority were like Shi Kai.

<r>

Regarding Shi Kai's change in demeanor, the elderly woman did not show any dissatisfaction. In her eyes, this was all normal. She also knew very well that she was merely a Night Watcher and dared not compare herself to an Emissary of Death; moreover, Shi Kai's attitude wasn't particularly harsh.

<r>

"This subordinate understands! This subordinate will inform you two Emissaries of everything that has happened recently, and will absolutely not conceal anything!"

<r>

The elderly woman hastily promised. No sooner had she spoken than a ripple suddenly emanated from the space not far from the two men. By the time the elderly woman sensed this spatial fluctuation, Yang Haoran and Shi Kai had already simultaneously directed their gazes towards the source of the spatial fluctuation.

<r>

The spatial fluctuation grew from faint to strong in but an instant. Then, the space split open, revealing a rift from which a figure appeared. This person, a smile on their face, stepped out of the spatial rift.

<r>

The appearance of this person caused Yang Haoran to be slightly stunned, but then he quickly reacted, his expression returning to normal.

<r>

Although his expression had returned to normal, Yang Haoran's heart was far from calm at this moment. For the person who had just stepped out of the spatial rift was none other than Huo Laoban, whom he had encountered once before in the Underworld!

<r>

The first time he met Huo Laoban, Yang Haoran had sensed a similar aura about him. Both of them were the type of people who hid a knife in their smile.

<r>

Because Yang Haoran himself was this type of person, he knew very well how dangerous such individuals were. Thus, he was unwilling to deal with Huo Laoban and had also warned Xu Meijing to stay away from him.

<r>

When he had gone to New Sun City to rescue Ye Zhiqiu's wife, Yang Haoran had initially harbored some misgivings, because Huo Laoban was the Emissary of Death of New Sun City, and he worried that going there would mean encountering this guy.

<r>

While he didn't believe that meeting Huo Laoban would necessarily lead to a conflict, if he could avoid meeting Huo Laoban, that would naturally be for the best, because he didn't want to deal with this person.

<r>

Fortunately, that operation was swift, and the entire process took place within a restriction barrier. Thus, they didn't attract outsiders before they left, and the situation he worried about didn't occur.

<r>

But what he had never expected was that at this very moment, under these peculiar circumstances, Huo Laoban would actually appear before him.

<r>

It went without saying that of the two Emissaries of Death Luo Yao had sent as reinforcement, the other one, besides Shi Kai, was naturally Huo Laoban.

<r>

Yang Haoran had previously conversed with two Emissaries of Death, and the voice of one of them had sounded somewhat familiar, but at the time, he hadn't recalled who it was. Now he finally knew what was going on.

<r>

As Yang Haoran's gaze fell upon Huo Laoban, Huo Laoban also noticed Yang Haoran. The two exchanged smiles, like friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time.

<r>

"Greetings, Emissary!"

<r>

The Night Watchers present, led by the second-in-command, the elderly woman, collectively bowed to Huo Laoban as he stepped out of the spatial rift.

<r>

Unlike Shi Kai, Huo Laoban did not ignore these Night Watchers. Instead, with a benevolent smile on his face, he said with a laugh, "We're all our own people, no need to be so polite. Everyone, rise, please rise quickly."

<r>

Huo Laoban's approachability greatly increased the Night Watchers' feelings of goodwill towards him. The strong goodwill in their hearts also made their attitude towards him become even more respectful.

<r>

Yang Haoran's attitude towards these Night Watchers was no different from Huo Laoban's, yet these Night Watchers were far more respectful towards Huo Laoban than they were towards him. This occurred because of the difference in their order of appearance.

<r>

Furthermore, the power fluctuations emanating from Huo Laoban were also somewhat stronger than those emanating from Yang Haoran.

<r>

Yang Haoran observed all of this, his expression not changing in the slightest. As for what he was thinking, that remained unknown.

<r>

After all the Night Watchers, including the elderly woman, had stood up, Huo Laoban nodded to them with a smile, and then walked towards Yang Haoran and Shi Kai's position.
