Chapter 494: Corpse Suppression Talisman

How to deal with the Corpse Ghoul and Corpse Puppets, Yang Haoran was merely asking for input. No matter what decision Ma Ling made, he wouldn't interfere.

Besides, he had no interest in zombies; he didn't care how they were handled.

After Ma Ling finished speaking, a spiritual light flashed in her left hand, and a talisman appeared between her two fingers. With a flick of her jade-like hand, the talisman shot out and affixed itself to the Corpse Ghoul's body.

As this talisman adhered to the Corpse Ghoul's body, the Corpse Ghoul's struggles immediately weakened, as if a great mountain had suddenly pressed down upon it, rendering it immobile.

Yang Haoran was now a genuine Talisman Master; although only a Yellow Talisman Master, he was indeed a Talisman Master.

Moreover, his theoretical knowledge was quite extensive; ordinary Yellow Talisman Masters probably couldn't compare to him in that regard. And the type of talisman Ma Ling was currently using, he just happened to recognize.

This was a Corpse Suppression Talisman, somewhat similar to the Demon Sealing Talisman used to suppress Bai Xue back then. The difference was that the Demon Sealing Talisman targeted demons, while the Corpse Suppression Talisman targeted zombies.

The Corpse Suppression Talisman had a considerably strong suppressive effect on zombies. However, the Corpse Suppression Talisman Ma Ling affixed to the Corpse Ghoul was merely a Yellow Talisman, and the power fluctuations emanating from it were quite limited.

That was why Ma Ling hadn't used this talisman when dealing with the Corpse Ghoul earlier, choosing instead to employ a formation. She knew that the Corpse Suppression Talisman in her hand couldn't possibly suppress the Corpse Ghoul. If she had used it on the Corpse Ghoul, not only would it have failed to suppress it, but it would have also wasted the talisman.

The reason Ma Ling now brought out this Corpse Suppression Talisman to suppress the Corpse Ghoul was that the Corpse Ghoul was severely injured at this moment. She believed this talisman should be able to suppress the injured Corpse Ghoul.

Watching the Corpse Ghoul weaken under the effect of the Corpse Suppression Talisman, the smile on Ma Ling's face deepened a little.

"Hehe, Uncle, do you recognize this talisman? " Ma Ling asked, looking at Yang Haoran with a hint of triumph.

Yang Haoran pretended to examine the Corpse Suppression Talisman on the Corpse Ghoul's body carefully, then smiled and shook his head.

"This is a Corpse Suppression Talisman, specifically used to suppress zombies. I didn't use it just now because I wanted to show you my other methods. Actually, I know quite a lot of things. In the future, if you need help, just come find me. " Ma Ling chuckled.

Yang Haoran didn't expose Ma Ling, as there was no benefit for him in doing so. However, he did feel Ma Ling's goodwill.

"So this talisman is the legendary Corpse Suppression Talisman? It's really powerful! Did you draw it? " Yang Haoran asked with a smile.

"Of course! Our Ma Family not only understands the way of formations, but also the art of talismans. We're quite formidable," Ma Ling said, laughing.

When Yang Haoran heard that Ma Ling had drawn the Corpse Suppression Talisman herself, a hint of admiration appeared in his eyes. This admiration wasn't feigned; it was genuine.

As a fellow Talisman Master, he could currently only draw some low-level talismans. He couldn't draw more advanced ones at all. For instance, he couldn't draw the Corpse Suppression Talisman now affixed to the Corpse Ghoul. In this regard, Ma Ling was indeed stronger than him.

However, just as Ma Ling's words fell, the Corpse Suppression Talisman affixed to the Corpse Ghoul suddenly ignited, instantly turning to ash.

There were also differences between talismans. Some talismans needed to burn to unleash their proper power, but others only needed to be affixed to the target's body to unleash their power. The Corpse Suppression Talisman currently on the Corpse Ghoul belonged to the latter category.

From the moment the Corpse Suppression Talisman was affixed to the Corpse Ghoul, its power began to affect the Corpse Ghoul. This was evident from the Corpse Ghoul's weakening struggles.

Now that the Corpse Suppression Talisman had spontaneously combusted, it meant that this talisman simply could not suppress the Corpse Ghoul before them.

Without the Corpse Suppression Talisman's suppression, the Corpse Ghoul's struggles once again intensified. And the triumph on Ma Ling's face froze as the Corpse Suppression Talisman turned to ash.

"Hehe, I never expected. . . I never expected this Corpse Ghoul to be so energetic," Ma Ling said, letting out a dry laugh at Yang Haoran.

"Energetic is good. The more energetic, the more research value it has. You don't need to use your Corpse Suppression Talisman anymore; it's still bound by the chains I condensed from my Yin Spirit Power. It can't escape,"

Yang Haoran said with a smile. His words seemed casual, but they revealed a sense of confidence and certainty.

"You're right. Just now, this Corpse Ghoul couldn't break free from your chains, Uncle. Its current state is far worse than before, so escaping is even more impossible now," Ma Ling said with a smile, not mentioning the spontaneously combusted Corpse Suppression Talisman at all.

After her words fell, Ma Ling's gaze shifted to where the Spirit Police were.

The Spirit Police officer who had been most deeply poisoned earlier was now restrained. Two of the Spirit Police were currently exerting all their effort to force the Corpse Poison out of his body. As the Corpse Poison was gradually expelled, his complexion grew paler, but he no longer went mad.

Judging from the situation, in just a moment, all the Corpse Poison in this Spirit Police officer's body should be completely expelled.

"Hey, we've taken down the Corpse Ghoul. Next, the matters here will be handed over to—"

Before Ma Ling could finish speaking, a roar suddenly erupted, cutting her off.

Roar!

As the first roar echoed, a second followed, then a third. Corpse Puppets rushed in from all directions; some burrowed out from shattered wall corners, some crawled out of houses, some emerged from the rubble, while others scaled walls and roofs, breaking countless tiles.

Among these Corpse Puppets were both humans and poultry. Their presence here was entirely due to the Corpse Ghoul's summons.

When poultry were infected by Corpse Poison and turned into monsters, some had great lethality, while others had little. For example, a cow's lethality was greater than a human's, while chickens and ducks were far less lethal than humans.

However, regardless of their inherent lethality, once they became Corpse Puppets, they carried large amounts of Corpse Poison. If one were scratched or bitten by them, they would be infected with Corpse Poison. Thus, as Corpse Puppets, all of them were highly dangerous.

Large numbers of Corpse Puppets swiftly approached from all directions. They ignored the Spirit Police present, their gaze collectively fixed on Yang Haoran and Ma Ling.

"Oh, wow, I actually completely forgot about them! But the Corpse Puppets in Yellow Ox Town are far more numerous than I sensed before. It seems their army increased while I was dealing with the Corpse Ghoul," Ma Ling said, watching the rapidly approaching Corpse Puppets.

Ma Ling had indeed forgotten about these Corpse Puppets earlier. She had even been ready to take the Corpse Ghoul and head back, never imagining that so many Corpse Puppets would rush over immediately afterward.

A single Corpse Puppet was nothing more than an ant to her, but with such a large number of Corpse Puppets currently, dealing with them would still be a bit troublesome.

Of course, it was merely 'a bit troublesome'; it didn't mean she had no way to deal with these Corpse Puppets.

Just as Ma Ling prepared to unleash her Golden Magic Sword to attack the incoming Corpse Puppets, Yang Haoran reached out and stopped her.

"You protect these Spirit Police; they can't handle any more trouble right now. As for these Corpse Puppets, leave them to me," Yang Haoran said.

Upon hearing this, Ma Ling hesitated. The reason for her hesitation was that these Corpse Puppets seemed to have no interest in the Spirit Police at all, so she felt it didn't matter whether she protected them or not.

However, after a brief thought, she decided it would still be better to protect the Spirit Police. After all, their current state was very poor, and if any Corpse Puppets truly attacked them, they would likely struggle to survive.

Therefore, Ma Ling ultimately decided to listen to Yang Haoran.

"Alright, I'll go protect them. You be careful."

With that, Ma Ling's figure flashed as she dashed towards the Spirit Police's location. Her departure attracted the attention of many Corpse Puppets; some even paused, appearing ready to pursue and kill Ma Ling.

At this moment, an angry roar burst from the Corpse Ghoul's mouth. The Corpse Puppets' bodies trembled, then their gazes collectively locked onto Yang Haoran, and they accelerated, charging towards him.

The Corpse Ghoul summoned the Corpse Puppets because it instinctively sensed danger, and the source of that danger was Yang Haoran. The chains on its body were left by Yang Haoran, so it wanted to control the Corpse Puppets to kill him.

Watching the large numbers of Corpse Puppets surge towards him from all directions, Yang Haoran wore a smile, his body utterly still. He didn't even take his hands out of his pockets.

However, the space above his head began to change at that very moment.
