Yang Haoran observed the reactions of all four. With a smile, he fulfilled his promise.

Ultimately, two of them decided to spend New Year's Eve with Yang Haoran and the others at the villa, while the remaining two prepared to attend to their personal affairs.

The reason they had been willing to stay behind, rather than reincarnate, was precisely this: there were still many things they couldn't let go of in their hearts.

Although they had never mentioned this to Yang Haoran, he could sense it.

Far from demanding they forcibly abandon these attachments, Yang Haoran instead offered his support through his actions.

Yang Haoran still had significant uses for these four, though he wasn't certain if their abilities would prove sufficient. Nevertheless, he intended to give them a try. If they were capable, that would be for the best; if not, he would simply have to assign them different roles.

Before the four left, Yang Haoran instructed them to find Xiujuan, and have her guide them in choosing their living quarters.

Before they wore skins, their spirit bodies could reside within the Soul-Gathering Bead. Now that they had donned skins, entering the Soul-Gathering Bead would require them to leave their skins behind. Even if the Soul-Gathering Bead forcibly absorbed them, it would only extract their spirit bodies from their skins; the skins themselves could not be taken into the Soul-Gathering Bead.

Yang Haoran found it too cumbersome for them to shed their skins every time they entered the Soul-Gathering Bead, only to put them back on when reappearing. Thus, he simply allowed them to choose their preferred rooms within the villa.

However, Yang Haoran had given the four a specific instruction: if there were outsiders in the villa, regardless of who they were, the four were not to reveal themselves unless he gave the order.

Naturally, this decision was made with his own considerations in mind.

After the four left the study, Yang Haoran's face settled into contemplation. A moment later, he made a decision: he would allocate some New Beginning Coins to expand the villa, transforming it into a base for cultivating his secret forces in the future.

He planned to implement this after the New Year. For now, he simply wanted to rest properly.

Yang Haoran didn't return to his room. He immediately began meditating and healing in the study. By the time he emerged from the study, it was already evening.

After a day of healing, his injuries had somewhat recovered, but full recovery would still require a considerable amount of time. It was impossible for his wounds to mend completely in just a single day.

If not for the special occasion, given his current physical condition, he would undoubtedly have chosen to remain in the study and continue healing, rather than venturing out.

Upon entering the living room, the scene before him made Yang Haoran's face involuntarily break into a smile.

The living room was quite lively at the moment—though "lively" was relative to the villa's usual quiet, not comparable to the genuine bustle of the streets.

In the living room, Xiao Kang darted about with an excited expression. Xiujuan was busy in the kitchen preparing tonight's grand feast, and Bai Xue, at some point, had also emerged from her room to help out in the kitchen.

Of the four who had donned skins today, two had left. The remaining two were currently chatting and laughing with Old Master Wu, though the laughter seemed to emanate solely from Old Master Wu. The other two appeared somewhat constrained in his presence.

As for Ye Zhiqiu, he sat alone on a distant sofa, drinking, appearing quite aloof.

Ye Zhiqiu had changed into a clean trench coat. Although he had washed himself, his long hair and unshaven jaw remained, giving him an air of weary melancholy.

Yang Haoran's appearance immediately drew the attention of several people. Ye Zhiqiu merely glanced at Yang Haoran before averting his gaze and resuming his drinking.

Old Master Wu and the other two, however, ceased their conversation, stood up, and saluted Yang Haoran.

Upon spotting Yang Haoran, Xiao Kang immediately ran over, grinning.

Yang Haoran paid no mind to Ye Zhiqiu's attitude. He scooped up the running Xiao Kang, then gently ruffled his hair with a smile.

“You all chat amongst yourselves; don't mind me. ”

Yang Haoran said, smiling, to Old Master Wu and the other two, then carried Xiao Kang towards the kitchen.

Inside the kitchen, Yang Haoran saw a busy Xiujuan and a helping Bai Xue. The two were chatting and laughing, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

However, Bai Xue's face was pale and her aura weak; her condition was considerably worse than his own.

Yang Haoran's arrival drew the gaze of both women. Before Xiujuan could speak, Bai Xue interjected.

“Lord Officer, why have you come? ”

“I came to take a look,” Yang Haoran replied with a smile, then set Xiao Kang down.

“There’s nothing much to see here,” Bai Xue said with a smile. “Your injuries haven’t healed yet, so go rest for a bit. We’ll call you when we’re done. ”

“You haven’t rested, so how could I possibly bring myself to? ”

As he spoke, Yang Haoran rolled up his sleeves, preparing to get to work, but Xiujuan quickly stopped him.

“No need, Lord Emissary. Just rest well. We’ll be done here soon. ”

“Yes, Lord Officer, just leave this to Sister Xiujuan and me. Old Master Wu and the others came to help earlier, but we also asked them to step out. I think you should take advantage of this free time to have a good bath and change into some clean clothes. ”

Only after Bai Xue said this did Yang Haoran suddenly realize that the clothes he was wearing were tattered, stained in multiple places with blood, and even emitted a faint stench.

He then remembered that after returning to the villa, he had been busy dealing with Ye Zhiqiu's matter, then the four others' matters. After handling all that, he was utterly exhausted and hadn't even returned to his room, instead directly meditating and healing in the study.

After emerging from the study, he had come straight here, never stopping to wash himself or change his clothes. Thus, even now, he remained in his ragged attire, exuding a foul odor from head to toe.

He looked at Bai Xue. Although her face was pale and her aura weak, she had changed into a clean tracksuit. While not as vibrant as usual, she was neat and tidy, and even exuded a faint fragrance.

He, on the other hand, presented a stark contrast to Bai Xue.

“Heh heh, this is quite embarrassing. I completely forgot about it. Alright then, I’ll leave this to you two. I really should go have a good bath and change into some fresh clothes. ”

With an embarrassed expression, Yang Haoran left the kitchen and returned to his bedroom to properly clean himself up.

After tidying himself up, Yang Haoran didn't immediately leave the room. He first called Xu Meijing. Only after they had chatted for a while did he finally step out of his room.

Originally, Yang Haoran had intended to make a trip to Ancheng, but with so many people still at the villa, it would be difficult to manage things here if he left.

Furthermore, his physical condition was currently quite poor. Dragging his severely injured body there just didn't feel right, and it would inevitably cause Xu Meijing to worry.

Therefore, he merely spoke with Xu Meijing over the phone, deciding to visit Ancheng once his injuries had mostly healed.

Upon arriving in the dining room, he saw that various dishes were already on the table, and Old Master Wu and the others were waiting.

Not all of them needed to eat. For instance, Xiujuan and the two who wore skins were spirit bodies, and thus did not require sustenance like living people.

As for Yang Haoran and the others, including the child Xiao Kang, they all possessed inner power and were not ordinary people, so their desire for these dishes wasn't particularly strong.

But tonight was different. Tonight was a special occasion. They had prepared so many dishes not for the sake of enjoying fine food, but for the sake of enjoying the atmosphere.

Overall, the meal was quite satisfactory and pleasant. Even the taciturn Ye Zhiqiu managed to speak a few words throughout the dinner.

In truth, Ye Zhiqiu's mood tonight wasn't bad. After all, he had now found the female demon. Although her physical body was gone, her soul remained. As long as her soul persisted, it meant there was still hope, and many ways for her to continue existing in this world.

His reticence, however, was primarily a result of his already deeply ingrained personality. Night God Under the Moon
