Chapter 385: Arrived Just in Time

Yang Haoran's body charged into the barrier. The torn opening in the barrier instantly sealed shut, as if it had never been breached.

But after Yang Haoran surged through the barrier, the scene before him abruptly transformed. He felt as if he had stepped into another world, one drenched in blood.

The air was thick with a pungent stench of blood. Corpses lay strewn haphazardly across the ground, blood pooling everywhere, while some injured individuals lay writhing, letting out mournful cries.

The dead and wounded on the ground were almost all Night Watchers and Spirit Police.

The Night Watchers and Spirit Police still able to fight remained locked in battle, their opponents being one ferocious Ghost Infant after another.

The scene was utter chaos, filled with screams and battle cries. The Spirit Police and Night Watchers were clearly on the back foot.

The sight before him caused Yang Haoran to knit his brows, his expression turning grim. He hadn't anticipated such heavy casualties from this operation, nor had he imagined there would be so many Ghost Infants here.

His gaze swept over the scene, and he spotted Old Master Wu. A Ghost Infant was currently pouncing on him, tearing and biting ferociously. The Spirit Power within Old Master Wu seemed to be completely depleted, rendering his resistance utterly feeble.

The Ghost Infant opened its gaping maw and lunged to bite Old Master Wu's head. Though the Ghost Infant was small, its mouth was not; when it opened wide with a fierce snap, it could completely engulf an adult's skull.

With its sharp, pointed teeth, once its mouth truly clamped down on Old Master Wu's head, it would undoubtedly gnaw his entire skull clean off.

Old Master Wu, seeing this, wanted to fight back, but at that moment, he was utterly powerless. Without Spirit Power, he could only resign himself to being butchered in this situation.

Forget resistance; in his current state, Old Master Wu couldn't even dodge. Where would he possibly find the strength to fight back?

Watching the Ghost Infant's blood-red maw descend upon his head, Old Master Wu helplessly closed his eyes.

He knew, today, he was likely doomed.

However, the expected searing pain never came. He opened his eyes in surprise, just in time to see Yang Haoran seize the Ghost Infant that was on him.

At this critical juncture, it was fortunate that Yang Haoran arrived and acted promptly. Otherwise, Old Master Wu's head would have already been gone.

The Ghost Infant struggled violently in Yang Haoran's grasp, savage roars continuously erupting from its mouth, as if to threaten Yang Haoran.

Yang Haoran let out a cold snort, forcibly wrenching the Ghost Infant from Old Master Wu's body.

“B-boss. . . ”

Old Master Wu's voice was weak, but a smile graced his face—the smile of one who had narrowly escaped death. Yang Haoran's arrival meant he was saved.

“You rest first, I'll handle the rest. ” Yang Haoran spoke.

As his words fell, the Soul-Gathering Bead on Yang Haoran's ring detached, then expanded to its normal size, hovering suspended in the air.

The Ghost Infant in his hand continued to struggle violently. Its strength was immense, far stronger and much more vicious than the Ghost Infant Fatty Qu had raised back then.

Yang Haoran paid no mind to the Ghost Infant's roars. His face grim, he forcibly shoved the Ghost Infant into the Soul-Gathering Bead.

Then, with a sweep of his hand, black chains instantly appeared out of thin air like venomous black snakes, sweeping towards the Ghost Infants all around.

While these Ghost Infants were indeed powerful to the Night Watchers and Spirit Police present, in Yang Haoran's current eyes, they were no different from ordinary infants.

Yang Haoran's move created no small stir, instantly drawing the gaze of everyone present. Seeing that it was Yang Haoran who had acted, the Spirit Police and Night Watchers all revealed expressions of pleasant surprise.

The Night Watchers, in particular, looked at Yang Haoran with fervent eyes.

Nor did Yang Haoran disappoint them; with this single move, he actually bound all the Ghost Infants, not a single one escaping.

The Ghost Infants struggled violently, roaring madly, but no matter how they thrashed, they couldn't break free from the chains' control. Instead, they were all lifted by the chains, suspended in the air.

Under Yang Haoran's control, the chains, formed from Spirit Power, pulled all the Ghost Infants towards the Soul-Gathering Bead hovering in the air. From his actions, it was clear he intended to use brute force to cram these Ghost Infants into the Soul-Gathering Bead.

“Brat! Release my children! ”

From above, a furious roar echoed, immediately followed by a force descending from the sky, hurtling down to strike Yang Haoran below.

Above, a fierce battle was also raging. One side was a very old man, while the other comprised Captain Luo and the snake demon Bai Xue.

As for Spirit Police Vice-Captain Zhou, at this moment, like Old Master Wu, he lay on the ground, completely without fighting capacity.

The one who roared and attacked Yang Haoran was precisely this old man.

Yang Haoran ignored the old man's roar. Facing the terrifying power descending from the sky, he mobilized the Spirit Power within his body to swiftly form a protective barrier on his skin.

Boom!

The protective shield developed cracks, but it didn't completely shatter. Instead, the Ghost Infants, bound by chains, were all forcibly drawn into the Soul-Gathering Bead under Yang Haoran's control.

With this single move, Yang Haoran forcibly collected all the Ghost Infants into the Soul-Gathering Bead. This action made the old man in the sky scream in furious indignation.

“You scoundrel! You're courting death! ”

Seeing this, the old man wanted to attack Yang Haoran again, but he was intercepted by Captain Luo and Bai Xue from above.

The Soul-Gathering Bead rapidly shrank, re-embedding itself onto the ring. Then, Yang Haoran's body soared into the air, appearing beside Bai Xue.

Bai Xue bore wounds on her body, her appearance somewhat disheveled. Captain Luo also had injuries, but comparatively, his condition was much better than Bai Xue's.

From this, it was clear that Captain Luo's strength was definitely superior to Bai Xue's.

Bai Xue's current strength had long since undergone a drastic transformation compared to when Yang Haoran first left.

She was a Great Demon, not a minor one, and her strength was not to be underestimated. The reason she had never displayed formidable power since meeting Yang Haoran was because the battle against the Black Talisman Master that year had severely wounded her, and her body, sealed by a Demon Sealing Talisman within a small wooden house, had been unable to recover. This was why her strength had remained so weak.

After becoming a Spirit Police, with the rare treasures provided by the Spirit Police and her ability to absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to recover, her injuries had long since completely healed. Her strength had not only returned to its peak, but had even reached new heights.

It was just that the old man she faced now was far from easy to deal with. Not only was she injured, even Captain Luo had sustained wounds.

Conversely, the old man before them was in a much better state compared to the two of them.

“Oh, wow, Brother Emissary of Death, you really came just in time! If you had arrived any later, we might have been completely wiped out. ”

Bai Xue glanced at Yang Haoran beside her, then shifted her gaze to the old man, her expression exceptionally wary.
