Chapter 322: This is a Snake Demon
In a residential complex in Lecheng, a man lay sound asleep in his bed. His room was a chaotic mess, with garbage strewn everywhere on the floor. Most of this trash consisted of liquor bottles and fast-food containers, along with cigarette packs and ubiquitous cigarette butts.
A strong smell of alcohol mixed with various other foul odors permeated the room at all times, creating an indescribable, peculiar scent. A normal person would absolutely find it difficult to endure such an environment.
The phone rang, and a melancholic melody roused the sleeping man. He instinctively reached out towards his nightstand, knocking several beer bottles to the floor with a clattering sound. One of the bottles, only half-empty, rolled away, and the unfinished beer spilled out.
The man showed no reaction to this, as if he was already accustomed to it all. He did not get up, remaining sprawled on his bed, fumbling groggily for his phone on the nightstand.
After some fumbling, the man successfully grasped his phone. He didn't open his eyes, nor did he answer the call. Instead, he pressed the power button, directly hanging up, and then continued to snore deeply.
The caller didn't give up just because the man hung up. Instead, they called again.
The phone rang again. The man frowned deeply, a look of discomfort on his face. He tossed and turned twice on the bed, muttering a curse under his breath, but still answered the call.
"Who is it? " The man's tone was filled with impatience. Anyone hearing it could tell he was in a very bad mood at the moment.
"It's me, Little Brother Ye. " A man's voice came from the other end of the line.
However, he didn't change his attitude because of it, still maintaining an impatient tone.
"What do you want? I'm sleeping. If there's nothing, I'll hang up. I'm not even fully awake yet."
The man said weakly, already preparing to hang up the phone.
"There's a job here. Are you interested?"
The man was just about to hang up. Upon hearing this, the movement of his hand paused, and he finally slowly opened his eyes.
His eyes were faintly bloodshot, and his dark circles were heavy, clearly due to a prolonged lack of good rest.
"What kind of job? " The man's spirits lifted slightly as he asked.
"Little Brother Ye, do you know what happened today in Stone Forest Town in your Lecheng? " the other party asked with a chuckle.
Upon hearing this, the man impatiently replied, "I'm sleeping. Even if it were the end of the world, I wouldn't know. Do you think I'd know what happened in Stone Forest Town?"
"You're right. Then I'll send you a video, you can figure it out for yourself. After it's done, don't forget my cut. Consider yourself lucky this time. If I were in Lecheng, this opportunity wouldn't have fallen to you."
As the words fell, the other party hung up. Immediately afterward, the man received a video.
The man frowned and clicked open the video. It played successfully, and the content shown was the segment of the streamer pestering the snake demon Bai Xue in Stone Forest Town.
The man watched the video. The snake demon in the video was very alluring, but he showed no change in expression. He hadn't even fully opened his eyes. Judging by his appearance, if this video failed to pique his interest, he would likely fall back asleep.
As the video played on, his half-closed eyes suddenly snapped open, his expression changing with it.
He sat up from his bed, then placed his phone aside. He rubbed his face with his hands, then rubbed his eyes, and picked up his phone again to play the video.
A moment later, he pressed the pause button. The frame froze at the exact moment the snake demon flicked its tongue at the streamer.
The man lit a cigarette. The burning cigarette made the room's scent even more pungent. Yet, having been in this environment for so long, he showed no signs of discomfort.
His gaze, his attention, were completely drawn to the frozen image in the video.
After watching for a moment, the cigarette burned down halfway, and the man replayed the video several more times.
To an ordinary person, this video was just a video of a scummy streamer harassing a beautiful woman. But in the man's eyes, it was different.
The video had been edited, so it was very short. After watching it a few more times, the man tossed the still-burning cigarette butt directly onto the floor, then put down his phone.
"Fluent in conversation, natural smile, absolutely no sign of a toy in her mouth. Moreover, the flexibility of that snake's tongue is something a toy couldn't achieve. This shouldn't be a toy; it's a real snake's tongue. This woman. . . she's a snake demon!"
After repeatedly observing the video, the man came to this conclusion in his mind.
Thinking of this, the man took out his phone and redialed the previous number.
The call was quickly answered. Before the other party could speak, the man preemptively asked, "When did this happen?"
"Just recently. If you head to Stone Forest Town now, you should make it in time, assuming no mishaps."
"I see."
The man replied indifferently. Then, without waiting for the other party to finish speaking, he hung up directly. Afterwards, without any discernible movement from him, the phone in his hand vanished.
Not only that, the cigarettes and lighter on the nightstand, as well as a few unopened beer bottles on the floor, vanished along with it.
The space in front of the man rippled slightly, then a rift opened. He had just gotten out of bed, yet showed no intention of washing up, nor any plan to comb his messy hair. He directly stepped into the spatial rift before him.
The spatial rift healed, and the man vanished from the room. Meanwhile, in Lecheng, Yang Haoran walked out of the tea house with the snake demon.
Although the snake demon had altered her appearance, she still attracted many gazes from the opposite sex along the way. The alluring aura about her could not be erased, even with a changed face.
More reserved men would glance at the snake demon, intentionally or unintentionally, seemingly looking around aimlessly. Their main purpose, in truth, was to steal a few more glances at the snake demon.
Some men were more overt, their eyes shining as they stared fixedly at the snake demon, as if afraid the snake demon wouldn't feel their fiery gazes, hot as a sky-facing chili pepper.
However, compared to earlier, the current situation was much better. Although Yang Haoran was not satisfied with this result, he could still accept it.
There was still some distance from Stone Forest Town to the Stone Forest Scenic Area. Many tourists came specifically to relax and sightsee, so they chose to walk to the Stone Forest. But there were also tourists who, for various reasons, chose to go to the Stone Forest by car.
Yang Haoran thought for a moment and ultimately decided to go by car, because he wanted to reach the Stone Forest earlier.
They hailed a car, and the two quickly arrived at the Stone Forest. But the fare was ridiculously expensive, no different from extortion. Fortunately, Yang Haoran was no longer interested in money, so he didn't argue with the driver.
Yang Haoran had visited the Stone Forest in Stone Forest Town many times. But in the past, each time he came for tourism, either to wander around by himself or to accompany friends.
Today was different. His purpose for coming to the Stone Forest today had absolutely nothing to do with tourism.
Compared to Stone Forest Town, the Stone Forest Scenic Area had many more tourists. This was normal. After all, tourists who came here were almost all drawn by the Stone Forest itself, not Stone Forest Town, so it was no surprise that most tourists gathered here.
To the eyes of foreign tourists, the Stone Forest of Stone Forest Town, with its strangely shaped and varied rock formations, was a masterpiece of nature's uncanny craftsmanship. It not only provided them with visual enjoyment but also a spiritual shock, making it very much worth seeing.
However, in the eyes of the locals, the Stone Forest was merely a collection of ordinary rocks standing on the ground. After seeing them too many times, one naturally grew tired of them.
This was just like many men: even if they married a wife as beautiful as a celestial fairy, once he had been with her for too long, he would lose interest, and might even find his own wife less appealing than the auntie next door.
Of course, not all men were like this, but such men were certainly a considerable number.
Yang Haoran paid no attention to the other tourists. After arriving at the Stone Forest with the snake demon, the first thing he did was to close his eyes, as if silently sensing something.
To some passing tourists, his actions seemed profound. They thought Yang Haoran was one of them, believing that Yang Haoran was currently listening to the wind, feeling the embrace of Mother Nature, and that he must have achieved some kind of enlightenment.
To another group of passing tourists, Yang Haoran was completely putting on an act, feigning artistic pretense, idle, and reeking of pretentious poverty.
However, the truth was, Yang Haoran was not like the former group; he certainly didn't have the leisure to listen to the sounds of nature here. Nor was he like the latter group imagined, idly showing off. He was sensing the Yin Qi and power fluctuations of the area.
