Chapter 315: Drawing Talismans with Vital Blood
The Eight Trigrams Mirror was incredibly fast, yet it didn't strike Yang Haoran directly. Instead, it abruptly halted diagonally above his body.
The Youth swiftly formed hand seals, muttering incantations under his breath. The Eight Trigrams Mirror, suspended in the air, instantly sprang to life, spinning rapidly like a fan.
A blinding light erupted, and the Eight Trigrams Mirror became as dazzling as the sun, enveloping Yang Haoran and the little girl behind him.
With Yang Haoran's abilities, he naturally perceived that the light unleashed by the Eight Trigrams Mirror had a certain suppressive effect on Yin Qi. Yet, he showed no signs of panic, his smile not even wavering in the slightest.
Just before the light washed over them, a vast quantity of Yin Qi surged from within Yang Haoran, coalescing into an unbreakable shield that protected him and the little girl.
Although the light radiating from the Eight Trigrams Mirror enveloped them, it was unable to penetrate the Yin Qi and directly harm Yang Haoran or the little girl's Spirit Body.
In truth, even without releasing more Yin Qi to protect himself, the Youth's attack wouldn't have significantly affected Yang Haoran. However, the little girl lacked his strength, and if she were to be engulfed by the light of the Eight Trigrams Mirror, she might very well suffer Soul Transformation.
The scene before him caused the Youth to furrow his brow. The Ghost-Slaying Talisman had failed to affect Yang Haoran, and now his Eight Trigrams Mirror, his very magic artifact, was also proving useless. This made him feel that Yang Haoran was an incredibly troublesome individual.
"Such a heavy hand. Aren't you worried that the little one behind me might completely vanish from this world? " Yang Haoran asked, smiling as he looked at the Youth.
The Youth responded to Yang Haoran while simultaneously changing his hand seals. As his hand seals shifted, more power was injected into the Eight Trigrams Mirror.
Empowered by the added strength, the light bursting forth from the Eight Trigrams Mirror thickened by a full twofold!
He had thought this might have some effect on Yang Haoran, but the result still disappointed him. The intense light unleashed by the Eight Trigrams Mirror remained unable to penetrate the Yin Qi emitted by Yang Haoran.
What's more, in the face of the Eight Trigrams Mirror's powerful burst of light, the Yin Qi surrounding Yang Haoran's body suddenly churned violently. To the Youth, this scene was nothing short of a provocation, seemingly mocking his impotence.
Faced with this situation, the Youth had no choice but to increase his power once more.
Yang Haoran, on the other hand, remained completely unfazed under the shroud of Yin Qi, watching the Youth's performance.
"While ghosts aren't human, they were once human, after all. You, too, will die one day and become a ghost yourself, so there's no need to reject them so vehemently. " Yang Haoran said, smiling as he watched the Youth, who was still changing his hand seals.
"Even if I become a ghost, I won't harm people. Ghosts that harm others cannot be allowed to remain; they must be eradicated! " the Youth declared in a deep voice.
"You're right, but I don't accept that. I don't deny that there are ghosts who indiscriminately slaughter the innocent, and killing such ghosts is fine, no big deal, because they truly deserve to die. However, not all ghosts randomly harm people. Many times, there's a reason why they become entangled with the living."
At this point, Yang Haoran glanced at Wu Mei, who was hiding to the side, then turned his gaze back to the Youth and continued, "Furthermore, not everyone is as good as you imagine. Do you know what she has done in the past?"
"Even if living people make mistakes, the laws of the mortal realm will punish them. But if ghosts harm people, no matter the reason, it is wrong and they must be eradicated!"
As he spoke, the Youth's voice paused, and the hand seals he was forming abruptly stopped.
"Pfft!"
The Youth spat out a mouthful of blood mist, which coalesced before him without dissipating. He then plunged his finger into the blood mist as if it were a brush, and his finger began to move rapidly.
This scene made Yang Haoran's eyebrow twitch. He naturally saw what the Youth was doing: the Youth intended to draw a Blood Talisman using his own vital blood.
This kind of Blood Talisman, drawn with one's own vital blood, was far more powerful than talismans of the same rank and type, but such a method was extremely damaging to the body.
Because vital blood was different from ordinary blood; it was the essence of blood. Each use would cause a significant drain on the body, requiring a period of recuperation to recover. Excessive use could lead to physical exhaustion, and in severe cases, even loss of life.
The Youth resorted to such a highly draining technique because he knew that ordinary methods were utterly ineffective against Yang Haoran, leaving him no other option.
"What if I told you that even if I gave you time to draw out this Blood Talisman, you still wouldn't be able to do anything to me? Would you believe me? " Yang Haoran asked with a smile.
"None of your business! " the Youth retorted coldly, his hand movements not stopping.
Meanwhile, Wu Mei frantically picked up a brick from the ground and quietly approached Yang Haoran.
She had realized that the Youth didn't seem to be Yang Haoran's match, so she wanted to contribute.
The Youth's talisman-drawing speed was swift. In just two breaths of time, his movements abruptly ceased.
"Coalesce!"
With an angry roar from the Youth, an intricate Blood Talisman coalesced into form in the air before him!
At this moment, the Youth's face had turned as white as paper.
Yang Haoran did not attack the Youth during these two breaths. When masters clash, let alone two breaths, even an instant can become the key to determining victory or defeat.
In those two breaths, if Yang Haoran had intended to kill the Youth, the Youth would already be a very fresh corpse by now.
But he didn't do so. He simply watched the Youth draw the talisman while releasing Yin Qi to defend against the Eight Trigrams Mirror.
After the Blood Talisman formed, Yang Haoran couldn't help but raise an eyebrow; he didn't recognize this talisman.
He had put in considerable effort to become a Talisman Master. Although he hadn't succeeded yet, he possessed a decent understanding of talismans, not just conventional ones, but even some that the Talisman Order had lost over time.
Yet, the Blood Talisman the Youth had drawn before him was one he had never seen, and thus, he didn't know what kind of talisman it was.
Although he didn't recognize the talisman, he could clearly sense the powerful energy fluctuations emanating from it.
Judging from the Ghost-Slaying Talisman the Youth had previously used, he was a Yellow Talisman Master. However, the powerful energy fluctuations erupting from this Blood Talisman were far beyond what a Yellow Talisman could produce. At least among all the talismans Yang Haoran knew, no Yellow Talisman could unleash such formidable energy fluctuations.
In Yang Haoran's view, the reason this talisman erupted with such powerful energy fluctuations was only partly because it was a Blood Talisman. Another reason was that this unfamiliar talisman was inherently an extremely potent one.
Although the power of this talisman surpassed Yang Haoran's expectations, the expression on his face didn't change much because of it.
This Blood Talisman was indeed powerful, but only in comparison to ordinary Yellow Talismans. In Yang Haoran's eyes, this talisman was, at best, on par with an average Black Talisman.
If the Youth were a Black Talisman Master, then Yang Haoran likely wouldn't be so calm right now. But the Youth was not a Black Talisman Master.
Seeing that Yang Haoran wasn't attacking, merely watching him with a smile, filled the Youth with an unprecedented sense of humiliation.
With a grim expression, he let out a furious roar at the Blood Talisman floating in the air before him.
"Go!"
The Blood Talisman dissipated, as if it had never existed.
At the same time, the ground trembled violently. Cracks suddenly appeared on the ground where Yang Haoran and the little girl stood, with fresh red blood flowing within the fissures, yet without emitting any strong smell of gore.
Up close, it was impossible to discern what the suddenly formed fissures beneath them were. However, if one were to look down from high above, they would discover a gigantic blood-colored talisman etched beneath Yang Haoran's feet.
And this talisman was precisely the Blood Talisman drawn by the Youth using his vital blood.
The Blood Talisman erupted with a crimson glow from below, and within this bloody light, countless, densely packed miniature Blood Talismans emerged.
There were so many of these Blood Talismans, countless like ants. Yet, if they were all magnified, one would find them identical to the Blood Talisman the Youth had drawn, without any difference whatsoever.
Though tiny, the power of each individual Blood Talisman was not weak. As they adhered to the Yin Qi released by Yang Haoran, the Yin Qi instantly hissed, transforming into black smoke and dissipating.
In just the blink of an eye, a noticeable portion of the protective Yin Qi around Yang Haoran's body had diminished!
This sight caused the Youth to let out a sigh of relief. He coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood, yet a look of satisfaction appeared on his face. Judging by the current situation, in just a few more breaths, all the protective Yin Qi around Yang Haoran would completely dissipate, and then the power of the Blood Talisman would directly impact Yang Haoran and the little girl.
The little girl, who had been hiding behind Yang Haoran, sensed the danger, and a look of fear appeared on her swollen face.
In her eyes, the Blood Talisman beneath them was utterly terrifying. Without Yang Haoran's protective Yin Qi, she would instantly be struck, resulting in Soul Transformation.
Not to mention the Blood Talisman below; even the intense light bursting from the Eight Trigrams Mirror above was enough to make her vanish into thin air!
"Uncle. . . Uncle. . ."
The little girl spoke, her voice timid. Yang Haoran turned his head to glance at her, offering a gentle smile. "Don't worry," he said, "Uncle just wanted to see how powerful this talisman is. It's not that I have no way to deal with it."
The fear on the little girl's face didn't dissipate because of Yang Haoran's words. Yang Haoran didn't offer further explanations, instead turning his gaze back to the Youth opposite him.
"Youth, pay close attention. I wasn't just bragging earlier."
Yang Haoran said with a chuckle. As his words fell, the Yin Qi around his body, which had largely dissipated, suddenly rekindled with even greater intensity than before.
And beneath his feet, ghost hands formed from coalesced Spirit Power began to emerge from the ground.
The ghost hands were withered, with sharp nails, and thick Yin Qi coiled around them, giving off a terrifying and eerie sensation.
One by one, the ghost hands broke through the earth, first piercing through the Blood Talisman, then seizing it and tearing it apart with immense force!
Boom!
The Blood Talisman shattered, dissolving into specks of crimson light, while spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the ground.
At the same time, Yang Haoran raised a hand, and a black chain, as thick as an arm, appeared, directly lashing out at the Eight Trigrams Mirror above!
