Chapter 189: An Exchange of Wounds

Zhong Siyu had experienced the power of a Soul Armament before, so facing the slash from Deng Feng, she surprisingly didn't choose to dodge. Instead, she used a massive amount of Yin Qi to protect her body and endured the blow head-on.

In exchange for this action, she delivered another fierce blow to Deng Feng.

The Black Bone slashed onto Zhong Siyu's body, her protective Yin Qi collapsing. Her Spirit Body was directly torn apart by the immense power, but in the instant before it ripped open, her palm slammed violently onto Deng Feng's head once more.

Deng Feng spat out another mouthful of fresh blood, his face turning several shades paler. Blood also streamed from his head; clearly, Zhong Siyu's palm strike had split it open.

If not for his formidable strength and the protection of Yin Qi around his body, his head would have long been smashed open by Zhong Siyu as easily as a watermelon.

Previously, only half his body had been forced into the ground, but now, Zhong Siyu had literally slammed his entire body, save for his head, into the earth.

Deng Feng's face was pale, his expression grim. Zhong Siyu's madness didn't surprise him; precisely because of her formidable strength and extremely deranged nature, he had always been wary of this Evil Spirit. This was why he had refrained from making a move against Zhong Siyu for so many years.

Although he had been mentally prepared, being injured so severely by his opponent still filled him with fury.

With a furious roar, Deng Feng channeled the Spirit Power within his body to its absolute limit, a terrifying force erupting forth, blasting a large pit into the ground that had trapped his body.

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and he gasped for breath. He propped his Black Bone in front of him, supporting his body with both hands, his gaze fixed forward.

Ten meters in front of him, streams of Yin Qi swirled wildly in the air, then merged together, reforming into Zhong Siyu, clad in her blood-red clothing.

However, compared to before, Zhong Siyu's Spirit Body was now much fainter. Previously, if one didn't look closely, it would be easy to mistake her Spirit Body for a true physical body, as it was incredibly dense.

But now, one glance was enough to tell that her body was a Spirit Body, not a genuine physical form.

It was evident that while directly enduring Deng Feng's earlier strike had inflicted considerable damage upon him, it had also come at a significant cost to her.

"You lunatic! Weren't you afraid my last strike would annihilate you? " Deng Feng's eyes were fixed on Zhong Siyu. As he spoke in a cold voice, he secretly channeled Spirit Power to heal his wounds.

His skull had been fractured by Zhong Siyu's blow; if he didn't mend it soon, it truly might be shattered.

He didn't believe Zhong Siyu would change her fighting style in the upcoming battle. If she continued to trade blows and landed another strike on his head, even if he managed to destroy her, he would likely be smashed to death himself.

"Annihilate me? Heh, you've been plotting for so long, I suppose you've been waiting for this day, haven't you?"

Deng Feng didn't deny Zhong Siyu's words; instead, he admitted it quite openly.

"That's right, I've waited a long time for this day. Back then, I didn't report your existence. Instead, I set up a seal to trap you in this Ghost Building and even cooperated with you, making this place a trial ground for newcomers—all so I could wait for today! " Deng Feng sneered, his heavy breathing no longer as ragged as before.

"You once made me cooperate with you, making this Ghost Building a trial ground for your subordinates, and you promised to release me after a hundred years. Now it seems you were completely deceiving me! " Zhong Siyu asked with a sinister grin.

Deng Feng burst into laughter, "Haha, a lie like 'a hundred years' is something only a fool like you would believe. And you're right, besides insane slaughter, what else could possibly fill your mind?"

"Nothing else, but I know you're terrified of me. You knew you couldn't get rid of me, so you painstakingly trapped me in this Ghost Building, didn't you?"

At Zhong Siyu's words, Deng Feng's facial expression stiffened slightly. Having his secrets exposed directly to his face, as an Emissary of Death, he felt a considerable loss of face.

His face was flushed with anger, but he still admitted it.

"That's right, I truly had no way to deal with you back then, but it's just the same to take care of you now," Deng Feng said coldly.

"Take care of me? " Zhong Siyu's face twisted into a sinister grin as she replied, "Don't speak too soon. It's not certain who will be taking care of whom tonight."

At this point, Zhong Siyu's gaze shifted to where Yang Haoran and the other Night Watchers were, and she continued to grin malevolently, "Your lackeys are about to be wiped out entirely. Aren't you going to lend a hand?"

Reminded by Zhong Siyu, Deng Feng suddenly remembered the other Night Watchers. He swept his gaze behind him, and his face instantly turned grim.

At this moment, the Night Watchers he had brought were a terrible sight; some were dead, others wounded.

The dead lay naturally on the ground, having not passed peacefully. As for those still alive, they were slaughtering each other.

"When you fell into the illusion, they did too. You're an Emissary of Death, far stronger than them. Your ability to break my illusion doesn't mean they can. Heh, the illusions I conjure are not comparable to the low-grade tricks of ordinary Evil Spirits."

The scene before him, coupled with Zhong Siyu's words, made Deng Feng tremble with rage. Ignoring Zhong Siyu's mockery, he let out a furious roar towards the Night Watchers who were still fighting each other.

"Wake up!"

This furious roar, imbued with a massive amount of Spirit Power, was ear-splitting like a clap of thunder. The Night Watchers still caught in the illusion trembled, the madness and hatred in their eyes vanishing, replaced by expressions of bewilderment.

Deng Feng's single furious roar directly shattered the illusionary world they were trapped in. It seemed incredibly simple, but this roar had consumed a tremendous amount of Deng Feng's Spirit Power; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to achieve it at all.

Seeing the living Night Watchers' eyes shift from madness to bewilderment, Deng Feng breathed a sigh of relief. He knew that with his help, these Night Watchers had successfully escaped the illusion and would soon fully regain their senses.

However, just as he breathed that sigh of relief, an extremely dangerous sensation suddenly arose within him.

"Damn it!"

Secretly cursing, Deng Feng's Black Bone slashed fiercely behind him, while his body simultaneously dodged to the side.

Boom!

A ball of Yin Qi was shattered by Deng Feng's blade, and where he had stood just moments before, a blood-red shadow appeared.

This blood-red shadow was precisely Zhong Siyu. She had intended to use this opportunity to deliver a devastating blow to Deng Feng, but he had dodged it.

"As expected of an Emissary of Death, your reaction speed is quite impressive. Heh, I just wonder if you'll be able to dodge the next time."

Zhong Siyu's face was twisted in a sinister grin, and she licked her lips with a crimson tongue, about to launch another attack on Deng Feng.

"All of you, get far away from here! Keep your Ghost Eyes constantly active! If you fall into an illusion again, I won't be able to save you!"

Deng Feng spoke in a deep voice to the surviving and now conscious Night Watchers, then, gripping his Black Bone with both hands, he actively launched an attack on Zhong Siyu.

The two powerful figures clashed once more, while Yang Haoran, without a second thought, pulled the still-stunned Jiang Dashi and retreated backward.

Fortunately, neither Yang Haoran nor Jiang Dashi were among the Night Watchers lying on the ground. However, both of them were not in good shape at the moment, bearing numerous wounds, clearly indicating they were not lightly injured.

Jiang Dashi, still in a daze, was jolted back to his senses by Yang Haoran's pull. He didn't resist, instead retreating alongside Yang Haoran to the edge of the formation.

Behind them was the curtain of light emitted by the formation; stepping beyond this light would allow them to leave.

"Haoran, I'm sorry. When I fell into the illusion just now, I. . ."

Jiang Dashi looked at Yang Haoran, who was covered in wounds, and couldn't help but reveal an expression of shame.

He had fully regained his senses now and remembered everything that had happened in the illusion, naturally realizing that Yang Haoran's numerous injuries were all his doing.

"It's nothing. Weren't your wounds also caused by me? So, you don't need to take it to heart. After all, both of us were caught in the illusion at the time," Yang Haoran said with a faint smile.

Though he said that, Yang Haoran's wounds were far more numerous than Jiang Dashi's. Jiang Dashi naturally saw this, so the shame on his face did not lessen because of Yang Haoran's words.

"Now isn't the time to talk about this. While those two are locked in a fierce battle, you should leave quickly. If you miss this chance, you probably won't get another one tonight! " Yang Haoran glanced at the curtain of light behind them and urged Jiang Dashi.
