Chapter 1549: Battle of Apotheosis (Part 11)

Under the watchful eyes of countless onlookers, Yang Haoran achieved his long-cherished wish and ascended to godhood. The soldiers of the Great Night Empire erupted into deafening cheers. Everyone on the Great Night's side was buoyed by an unprecedented surge in morale, reaching an all-time peak. Conversely, the Underworld Office's side was dispirited, with many beginning to contemplate retreat.

Amidst the cheers of the Great Night's soldiers, Yang Haoran pointed a finger into the air at someone below, and Remnant Moon vanished from above.

Remnant Moon had not truly disappeared; its immense speed merely created an illusion of vanishing. Only those who had reached a certain level of power could discern its trajectory.

In the eyes of the Talisman Ancestor and the Death God, these two True Gods, Remnant Moon was at that moment slashing towards a specific area with astonishing speed. As for everyone else, only the Spirit Master False God and the Demon Hunter Guild Leader could vaguely catch a trace of it. The target Remnant Moon was striking at was precisely the Demon Hunter Guild Leader.

Clearly, the Demon Hunter Guild Leader had become Yang Haoran's first target after ascending to godhood. Of course, Yang Haoran had his reasons for choosing the Demon Hunter Guild Leader out of so many enemies.

The Demon Hunter Guild Leader's face drastically changed. He immediately dodged, but it was still too slow; one arm was instantly severed. His power was inferior to that of the Death God and the Talisman Ancestor, so in his eyes, Remnant Moon didn't approach rapidly, but rather appeared before him in a flash. If he hadn't instinctively sensed danger and dodged immediately, his fate at that moment would not have been merely a severed arm, but rather being split in two by Remnant Moon.

Although the Demon Hunter Guild Leader's power was not as great as the Spirit Master False God in his prime, his current strength was not to be underestimated; indeed, he surpassed the Spirit Master False God and was one of the rare masters beneath the True Gods.

Before Yang Haoran ascended to godhood, it would not have been easy for him to deal with the Demon Hunter Guild Leader. However, after becoming a god, for Yang Haoran to slay the Demon Hunter Guild Leader was as simple as crushing an ant. This casual strike was the best proof.

With one arm instantly severed, the Demon Hunter Guild Leader was scared out of his wits. He had expected that after Yang Haoran ascended to godhood, his first action would be to join the Talisman Ancestor in confronting the Death God, as that was a battle between True Gods. He had never imagined that Yang Haoran would strike at him. If his combat instincts hadn't been so sharp and his reactions so swift, his physical body would have been gone by now.

Because Remnant Moon's speed was too great, the Demon Hunter Guild Leader didn't feel any pain the instant his arm was severed. However, he knew that immense pain would follow: his heart would ache, and his wound would sting even more.

Compared to his life, pain was naturally nothing. The Demon Hunter Guild Leader valued his life far more than any pain, so upon realizing his arm had been severed, he didn't hesitate for a moment. Without a word, he exerted every ounce of strength to flee into the distance, leaving no harsh words behind, not even thinking of retrieving his severed arm.

"Retreat! ! !"

The Demon Hunter Guild Leader transformed into a beam of light, fleeing into the distance. His voice, anxious and tinged with unconcealable fear, echoed across the heavens and earth.

The Demon Hunters who were fighting, seeing their Guild Leader flee, immediately lost all remaining morale, which was already low. They scattered in every direction, some even tearing open space, risking being cut down by the spatial rift, to force a teleportation exit. However, this extremely irrational action only hastened their demise.

The morale of the Underworld Office personnel was originally slightly better than that of the Demon Hunter Guild. After all, they still had the Death God, a True God. Even if Yang Haoran became a True God, it didn't necessarily mean he was the Death God's match, so they hadn't fallen into despair because of Yang Haoran's ascension.

However, the scattered flight of their ally, the Demon Hunter Guild, dealt a significant blow to their morale. Their overall strength was already inferior to the Great Night's side; with the Demon Hunter Guild fleeing, they were even less capable of fighting the Great Night. Their morale plummeted to rock bottom. Had the Death God not issued a command and the Five Underworld Emperors not retreated, they would surely have scattered and fled like the Demon Hunters of the Demon Hunter Guild, each scrambling to save their own lives.

The Demon Hunter Guild Leader's actions were not wrong; it was simply that Yang Haoran was different now. Before Yang Haoran became a god, if the Demon Hunter Guild Leader had wholeheartedly wanted to escape, Yang Haoran might not have been able to stop him. But now, if the Demon Hunter Guild Leader wished to flee, Yang Haoran could stop him at will.

Whoosh! ! !

A whooshing sound rent the air. The Demon Hunter Guild Leader had only fled a short distance when Remnant Moon attacked him again. This time, the Demon Hunter Guild Leader was not as lucky as before; his body was directly split in two by Remnant Moon, severed at the waist.

Blood sprayed as the Demon Hunter Guild Leader let out a shriek. This shriek was not from pain, but from fear—the fear of death. His severed body, accompanied by the shriek, plummeted from the sky.

With the tragic death of the Demon Hunter Guild Leader, the Demon Hunters of the Demon Hunter Guild fled even more desperately, wishing they could vanish from the Eastern Sunrise Ocean immediately. Seeing this, the Great Night's side naturally wouldn't let slip such a perfect opportunity to beat a drowning dog.

After Yang Haoran slew the Demon Hunter Guild Leader, he had no interest in pursuing the other Demon Hunters. Instead, he launched an attack on the Death God. His Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, and the Night God Dharma Body, alternately assaulted the Death God. Coupled with the Talisman Ancestor's full-force offensive, the Death God was driven back step by step. The Death God, whose injuries had not fully recovered to begin with, found his wounds continuously worsening as he barely fended off such fierce attacks.

If this continued, the Death God's defeat was only a matter of time. However, Yang Haoran was not satisfied. He grinned savagely and summoned his two other Soul Armaments, also targeting the Death God.

"Retreat! ! !"

The Death God knew that the tide had turned irrevocably. Continuing would bring him no benefit, and the entire Underworld Office would suffer a devastating blow, as a large number of masters would perish here. This would be a fatal strike to the Underworld Office. Therefore, the most rational course of action was to retreat immediately, reduce casualties, and cut losses in time!

When the Death God gave the order, most of the Underworld Office combatants felt as if they had received a grand amnesty. They were not foolish; they knew the consequences of continuing. Only by retreating was there a chance to save their lives. Although it was only a possibility, for them, it was a tremendous stroke of luck, certainly better than dying.

In such a situation, retreat wasn't simply a matter of wanting to. It required not only one's own strength but also luck. While some might successfully escape, others would surely perish tragically during their flight.

"Heh heh, wanting to escape now, isn't it a bit too late?"

The Talisman Ancestor spoke with a laugh, appearing extremely pleased at that moment, for he believed today was the perfect chance to eliminate the Death God. As long as the Death God was successfully removed, he would have one less formidable foe.

"Hmph, I admit that my current state is no match for the two of you, but if I wish to leave, you do not possess the ability to keep me!"

With a cold snort, the Death God immediately employed a technique to escape. He knew that given his current power and condition, it was utterly impossible to simultaneously defeat Yang Haoran and the Talisman Ancestor. Fleeing this place was the most rational approach.

However, as he employed his technique to escape, the Talisman Ancestor also unleashed a method to obstruct him. Because their combined power was simply too immense, the spatial area where the three stood shattered and devolved into chaos. Their figures were consequently enveloped within the maelstrom of chaos, disappearing from sight.

With the three disappearing, the people of the Great Night's side were not particularly worried. Instead, they intensified their assault on the Underworld Office. From the current situation, it was clear that the Death God could not possibly defeat the combined efforts of Yang Haoran and the Talisman Ancestor, and their disappearance did not imply danger for Yang Haoran or the Talisman Ancestor.

The Underworld Office personnel, however, were quite the opposite. With their morale shattered, they mostly opted to evade the Great Night's attacks. Moreover, since the Death God had already given the order to retreat, those who had long desired to flee had no fighting spirit left. They employed various methods to escape, and the Death God's sudden disappearance left them utterly disheartened, accelerating their flight, fearful that any delay would cost them their lives.

In this chaotic battle, it was not surprising that some successfully escaped, nor was it surprising that others failed to escape and lost their lives. Amidst waves of escalating shouts and battle cries, Underworld Office personnel continuously met tragic ends. The Great Night's side also saw some lose their lives to their opponents' desperate last-ditch counterattacks, but these were only a minority.

No surprises occurred. The alliance formed by the Great Night, the Talisman Order, and the Spirit Mediums won this great battle. The Underworld Office suffered a crushing defeat, and a large number of their masters were forever left in the Eastern Sunrise Ocean.

The chaotic region where the Death God, the Talisman Ancestor, and Yang Haoran, the three True Gods, were located, gradually dispersed three days later. However, when this chaotic area returned to normal, only Yang Haoran and the Talisman Ancestor, the two True Gods, remained. The Death God had vanished without a trace.

Simultaneously, a heavy snowfall began across the entire New Beginning Realm.
