Chapter 1507: Soul Fusion Master

Facing Old Master Wu's worries and doubts, Yang Haoran nodded with a smile, once again giving a positive reply.

"You guessed correctly. I plan to forcefully implant the souls of the deceased into the bodies of newborns, allowing them to possess a soul and become like normal people."

As these words fell, seeing that Old Master Wu's slightly furrowed brows did not relax, Yang Haoran knew that Old Master Wu still harbored worries and doubts. So, he continued to explain with a smile.

"Old Wu, I'm sure you're familiar with the ghost art of Borrowing a Corpse for Reanimation. However, newborns aren't corpses, so using such a ghost art on them would be rather inappropriate. Even if successful, it would still cause some negative effects on the newborn. Therefore, I don't intend to use Borrowing a Corpse for Reanimation to solve this problem."

His voice paused slightly, then Yang Haoran continued.

"The Yin Division possesses countless ghost arts. Special ghost arts similar to Borrowing a Corpse for Reanimation are also numerous. Among them are ghost arts that can implant the souls of the deceased into newborns without harming them. Not only are there such ghost arts, but there are also similar spiritual arts. I understand both types, so resolving this issue won't be difficult."

Upon hearing this, Old Master Wu's slightly furrowed brows finally relaxed. As Yang Haoran had said, he was indeed familiar with the ghost art of Borrowing a Corpse for Reanimation. Not only did he know it, but he also mastered this ghost art. Therefore, he understood that if this ghost art were used on a newborn, it could very likely cause a certain degree of damage to the infant, or even leave incurable after-effects. After receiving Yang Haoran's affirmative reply, his first thought was Borrowing a Corpse for Reanimation, and knowing its drawbacks for newborns, his worries had not lessened.

However, now knowing that Yang Haoran possessed more suitable methods, his slightly furrowed brows relaxed, and much of his inner worry dissipated. Forcefully implanting souls into newborns – as long as it didn't harm them, other issues would be easily resolved. As for the soul's memories from its previous life, that was no problem at all; they could simply be erased before implanting the soul into the newborn, which was not difficult.

"Haha, since Your Majesty possesses arts that can implant souls into infants without harming their physical bodies, achieving perfect fusion, then this retaliatory blow from the Yin Division against our Great Night Empire can indeed be easily resolved."

Old Master Wu said, a smile appearing on his face. Yang Haoran, however, gently shook his head after listening, then spoke.

"Easy? For us, who lack a Reincarnation Platform, resolving this retaliatory strike from the Yin Division will be anything but easy."

Yang Haoran's words caused Old Master Wu to slightly stiffen, seemingly not understanding why Yang Haoran would say that. This time, Yang Haoran didn't wait for him to ask and continued speaking.

"Firstly, we need a sufficient number of souls. The daily death count in our Great Night Empire is completely disproportionate to the number of newborns, and I believe you are well aware of this."

Hearing this, Old Master Wu nodded. What Yang Haoran said was indeed true. Due to the excellent medical conditions in the Great Night Empire, many of the medicines ordinary people consumed were excellent products developed by the Medicine God Society. With these medicines providing treatment, every ordinary person in the Great Night Empire lived a long life. Furthermore, to enhance the Great Night Empire's strength and gain more believers, Yang Haoran vigorously encouraged the populace to reproduce, the more the better. This led to a complete disproportion between the daily birth rate and death rate in the Great Night Empire, with an enormous disparity.

Old Master Wu, of course, understood what Yang Haoran meant by saying this. Yang Haoran was reminding him that since the daily death count in the Great Night Empire was disproportionate to the birth count, there would eventually come a day when souls would be insufficient.

"Secondly, to prevent newborns from retaining their previous memories and causing unnecessary trouble, we must also erase the souls' past memories. This process requires extreme caution, otherwise, it could harm the soul's essence, potentially leading to cognitive issues after fusion with the newborn."

Yang Haoran continued. Old Master Wu nodded again upon hearing this. He had also considered this point and supported the approach. If the souls' past memories weren't erased, newborns would recall grudges and loves from their previous lives, which would indeed cause a great deal of trouble. Without memories of their past lives, many problems would be reduced, greatly aiding the stability of the Great Night Empire.

"Finally, the process of forcefully implanting souls into infants using secret arts also requires extreme caution, with no room for error. A single mistake could very likely lead to Soul Fusion failure, which places high demands on the caster."

At this point, Yang Haoran smiled and looked at Old Master Wu, then asked.

"Heh heh, Old Wu, do you still find it easy now?"

Old Master Wu looked abashed, then responded with an awkward smile.

"Your subordinate was simply overjoyed upon learning that this problem could be solved, and thus didn't think too much. With Your Majesty's reminder now, your subordinate suddenly realizes that with so many newborns in the Great Night Empire every day, handling them will indeed not be easy."

Yang Haoran wore a faint smile. He habitually pulled out a cigarette. Just as he was about to light it, he suddenly remembered something, glanced at the infant in the cradle, and slipped the cigarette back into its pack.

"Our mode of operation, compared to the Reincarnation Platform, indeed cannot be considered easy. Neither in terms of efficiency nor safety can it be compared to the Reincarnation Platform. Furthermore, we will need to invest a significant amount of manpower to achieve this, whereas the Reincarnation Platform requires no human effort whatsoever. There's truly not an iota of comparability between the two. However, given our Great Night Empire's current predicament, simply being able to solve this problem is excellent. Even if it's troublesome, it's still a good thing. Moreover, for the long-term development of the Great Night Empire, no matter how much trouble this causes, we must do it."

Speaking to this point, Yang Haoran paused slightly, then looked at Old Master Wu and continued.

"I will teach you the ghost art for implanting souls into newborns shortly. I need your Funerary Division to train a batch of professionals in the shortest possible time. I will name these professionals Soul Fusion Masters. Every city and every district of the Great Night Empire must have a sufficient number of Soul Fusion Masters, and their task will be to fuse souls into every newborn."

Old Master Wu nodded in agreement. He then recalled the issue of the disproportionate number of newborns and deaths in the Great Night Empire, and so he asked.

"Then how should we handle the matter of souls? Although we currently possess an immense quantity of souls, they will eventually run out. If we don't plan a countermeasure in advance, it might become very troublesome later."

Yang Haoran smiled faintly, his expression unchanged by Old Master Wu's words. Old Master Wu observed Yang Haoran's reaction and thought that Yang Haoran had, in all likelihood, already devised a countermeasure. As expected, Yang Haoran's subsequent words confirmed his guess.

"Haha, I still possess an astonishing number of souls. I will hand them all over to you shortly. With this batch of souls I'm providing, combined with the souls collected over the years, it should be enough for our Great Night Empire for a considerable period. If the death toll within our Great Night Empire isn't enough, the outside world has an astonishing number of daily deaths. If our Great Night Empire's death toll cannot meet the demand for newborns, then I will search for souls from outside the Great Night Empire."

At this point, Yang Haoran made a promise to Old Master Wu.

"Old Wu, rest assured, you won't need to worry about the collection of souls. I will arrange for others to handle it. You only need to ensure the Soul Fusion for newborns is handled properly. No matter how many souls you require, I will find every possible way to satisfy your needs and ensure your Funerary Division never faces a situation where there are no souls for newborn fusions."

With Yang Haoran's promise, Old Master Wu's last bit of worry vanished, and the smile on his face became a few shades brighter.

"Your Majesty has long been prepared; your subordinate is both impressed and reassured. Since Your Majesty is willing to entrust such a crucial matter to the Funerary Division, we will by no means disappoint Your Majesty. Your Majesty only needs to await the results; the Funerary Division will certainly handle this matter flawlessly."

Old Master Wu was beaming, and he, too, made a guarantee to Yang Haoran.
