Chapter 1501: Powerful Soul Fusion
Though the three Demon Saints were not Spirit Mediums themselves, having lived for an untold number of years to reach their current realm, they possessed considerable knowledge. They knew of the Soul Fusion spiritual art, and they recognized that what Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu were currently performing was precisely Soul Fusion. It was precisely because of their understanding of this spiritual art that they now believed Yang Haoran could not maintain this state for long.
According to their understanding of Soul Fusion, though the art dramatically boosted power upon successful activation, it could not be maintained indefinitely. Soul Fusion also had a time limit, the duration of which varied from person to person and was not fixed.
One point, however, was certain: the greater the power consumed by the Spirit Medium and Guardian Spirit after a successful Soul Fusion, the shorter the duration of the fusion would be. In the Demon Saints' view, Yang Haoran's ability to overpower them after successfully fusing with Zhong Siyu was entirely due to the significant power he expended with each strike.
Therefore, if Yang Haoran continued to expend power at this rate, his Soul Fusion state certainly wouldn't last much longer. The three of them simply needed to hold out until Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu's fused state ended. At that point, both Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu would inevitably fall into a state of weakness. In their weakened condition, it would naturally be impossible for them to contend with the three Demon Saints. Dealing with Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu then would be as easy as flipping one's palm.
The three great Demon Saints' plan was sound, but reality proved brutal. The battle continued for some time, yet Yang Haoran's Soul Fusion state showed no sign of instability. Instead, the colossal bodies of the three Demon Saints became riddled with wounds, their appearance utterly wretched.
The three Demon Saints, naturally, knew better than anyone how terrible their own condition was. A sense of panic began to set in, as they worried they might fall before Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu's Soul Fusion state ended. If that were truly the case, they would suffer an immense loss of face. They would certainly be disgraced when facing the other three Demon Saints and their subordinate sea demons in the future.
Looking at the other three great Demon Saints, their current situation was comparatively much better. None of them had fallen into a disadvantaged position. Instead, Lei Bao, Hou Yu, and Bai Xue seemed somewhat overwhelmed.
Bai Xue, naturally, had no hidden intentions. After all, this battle was crucial for the Great Night Empire, and given her feelings for Yang Haoran, she certainly wouldn't hold anything back. Thus, she fought without reservation, displaying her true capabilities. However, her opponent's strength was simply too formidable for her to handle, so even with her full power unleashed, she still found herself at a disadvantage.
While Bai Xue and her two companions were indeed not as strong as the opposing three Demon Saints, they were merely at a disadvantage; they had not yet been suppressed to the point of being completely unable to retaliate.
As for the battles involving those below the Demon Saint realm, the Sea Demon Alliance held a clear advantage due to their superior numbers and overall strength. Although Zhong Siyu had previously slain several experts below the Demon Saint rank from the Sea Demon Alliance, this number would not have a fatal impact on their forces. The Sea Demon Alliance remained significantly stronger than the Flock of Demons Society, Myriad Ghost Grotto, and Iron Blood Demon Hall. Consequently, the situation for the Flock of Demons Society, Myriad Ghost Grotto, and Iron Blood Demon Hall was far from optimistic.
After Yang Haoran fused with Zhong Siyu, their strength immediately surpassed that of the three Demon Saints, granting them an absolute advantage. However, only their sector of the battle was faring well; the situations in other battle zones were grim, with some even appearing dire.
If the situation continued like this, even if Yang Haoran ultimately defeated the three Demon Saints, it would likely be difficult to change the outcome of this war. After all, in a conflict of this scale, the victory of a single battle zone or an individual could not determine the overall outcome. Unless Yang Haoran could, after subduing the three Demon Saints, still possess enough power to help Bai Xue and her two companions defeat the other three Demon Saints. Only then, with the Sea Demon Alliance devoid of its six leading Demon Saints, would all their sea demons lose their spiritual backbone, and the vast majority would surely fall into disarray, their will to fight completely gone. At that point, the Great Night Empire would naturally secure victory in this grand war.
But the question remained: could Yang Haoran achieve this?
Although the six great Demon Saints were shocked by Yang Haoran's strength after Soul Fusion, they refused to believe he had the power to contend with all six of them.
Facts proved the six Demon Saints' conjecture correct. As time continued to pass, while Yang Haoran still held the upper hand, and the three Demon Saints opposing him were gradually reaching their limits, looking as if they couldn't hold on much longer, Yang Haoran's own situation wasn't much better. His entire body was covered in numerous injuries, and the power fluctuations emanating from him were no longer as formidable as they were initially, having weakened by at least seventy to eighty percent. In such a state, even if Yang Haoran defeated the three Demon Saints, it would be absolutely impossible for him to defeat the other three.
As for the three Demon Saints who were Yang Haoran's opponents, their current mood was no longer panic, but a mix of shock and fury. They were shocked by the power Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu displayed after Soul Fusion, and even more so by the prolonged duration of Yang Haoran's fused state. Their fury stemmed from the tremendous blow to their prestige they had suffered. Their combined strength was superior to the other three, yet in their joint assault on Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu, not only had they failed to slay the pair, but they had exhausted all their means, reaching their absolute limits. To them, this was a blatant insult; how could they not be enraged?
"I have no intention of killing the three of you. Otherwise, you wouldn't be alive right now," Yang Haoran said with a cruel grin, even as he intensified his fierce assault on them. "As long as you're willing to surrender, everything can be discussed. If you refuse, then don't blame me for striking to kill."
Yang Haoran continued his fierce assault on the three, speaking with a savage grin. Although the power within his body was seventy to eighty percent weaker than its initial state, his attacks on the three Demon Saints remained relentless, completely disregarding that doing so would accelerate the depletion of his internal power.
Previously, Yang Haoran hadn't attempted to persuade the three great Demon Saints because the timing wasn't right. Any persuasion then would have been meaningless and only invited ridicule. But the situation was different now; the three Demon Saints were at the end of their flight, on the verge of being beaten to death by him. Only at this point did persuasion hold any meaning, which was why he chose to speak now.
However, Yang Haoran's personality had undergone a drastic transformation after fusing with Zhong Siyu. Thus, as he spoke, his usual gentleness was replaced by a savage grin, exuding an aura of pure ferocity.
"Surrender? Yang Haoran, I think you've completely misunderstood the situation! " one Demon Saint roared, his voice laced with both anger and disdain. "Yes, I admit that the three of us are indeed no match for you. But so what? You are equally weak now, and your Soul Fusion state could end at any moment. In this condition, even if you defeat the three of us, you won't be able to turn the tide of the battle by yourself. The ultimate victory will belong to our Sea Demon Alliance! The three of us are perfectly clear on this point. Knowing that victory is ours, would we still choose to surrender? Isn't that a joke? If it were you, would you commit such a foolish act?"
A Demon Saint spoke with an enraged voice, his tone brimming with both anger and disdain. Although his enormous bestial face was currently covered in blood, presenting a truly wretched sight, he showed no intention of backing down. Whether this resolve was a deliberate act to conceal his true inner emotions or if he genuinely possessed such unyielding spirit, remained unknown.
"Second Brother is right," another Demon Saint echoed, his emotions clearly agitated. "The ultimate victory will definitely belong to our Sea Demon Alliance! So it's not us who should surrender, but you outsiders!"
Another Demon Saint chimed in at this moment, his emotions highly agitated, though his excitement clearly had nothing to do with joy.
As these words fell, an invisible murderous aura suddenly intensified on Yang Haoran's face, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes. From his expression, it was clear that he had truly decided to kill. However, just then, a stretch of space in the distance suddenly vibrated violently. Immediately after, several spatial rifts appeared, and figures shot out from them.
This sight made the cruel grin on Yang Haoran's face deepen, his expression becoming as terrifying as a man-eating evil spirit!
