Chapter 1470: Lei Bao

Large numbers of Sea Demons successively chose to surrender. The two Demon Saints were enraged by this, yet utterly helpless, as their attempts to stop them had little effect.

Soon, the skies above Half-Moon Island fell silent; not a single sound of battle could be heard. Aside from the majority of Sea Demons who voluntarily surrendered, there was a small portion of Sea Demons unwilling to give up, and this small group was forcibly subdued by Half-Moon Island using absolute power.

The reason they were merely restrained, rather than slaughtered like the other resisting Sea Demons, was that this small portion of Sea Demons possessed considerable cultivation. Yang Haoran found it truly regrettable to kill them, so he ordered them to be forcibly subdued and then slowly tamed. If, after expending a great deal of time and employing various methods, this small group of Sea Demons still refused to yield, then it wouldn't be too late to eliminate them later.

The two Demon Saints were naturally among this small group of Sea Demons. With their Demon Saint realm cultivation, Yang Haoran genuinely couldn't bear to slay them. After all, breaking through to this realm was incredibly difficult, requiring immense time and vast resources. Any Sea Demon capable of reaching this realm was a one-in-ten-thousand existence; killing them would be a tremendous waste. If they could be subdued, they would become two powerful assets.

Previously, Half-Moon Island had subdued quite a few Sea Demons, but none of these Sea Demons had reached the Demon Saint realm. The highest cultivation among them was peak Demon King. Although peak Demon King was just one step away from Demon Saint, that step was not easily taken. The disparity in strength between the two was immense; a peak Demon King was as weak as an ant before a Demon Saint, no different from an ordinary Demon King. This clearly demonstrated the might and preciousness of a Demon Saint.

It was precisely because Yang Haoran valued the power of these two Demon Saints that he didn't eliminate these two leaders. Had it been otherwise, his approach would have been entirely different. He would have used every possible means to kill the two Demon Saints immediately, because once they were dead, subduing the other Sea Demons would become significantly easier.

Yang Haoran didn't do that, indicating that from the very beginning, he had set his sights on the two Demon Saints, intending to subdue them for his own use.

Forcibly controlling two Demon Saints was no easy task; it was far more difficult than subduing other Demon Kings. However, difficulty didn't mean it was impossible. With the combined efforts of Half-Moon Island's many experts, the two Demon Saints were ultimately subdued.

Whether they were Sea Demons who had surrendered or those who had refused to yield and were forcibly subdued, they were all uniformly escorted before Yang Haoran, awaiting his disposition. The former group was far more compliant, without struggling, resisting, or shouting insults, while the latter was quite the opposite.

Yang Haoran did not employ any means to make the latter group behave; instead, he allowed them to struggle and hurl insults. His subordinates, a close circle of confidants, all frowned, their expressions grim because the insults were truly vile. This caused them to look rather displeased, despite having just won a victory. Yang Haoran's reaction was different; unlike his grim-faced subordinates, he wore a faint smile, as if he hadn't heard the offensive curses.

Their insults met with no response. The two great Demon Saints and their forcibly subdued subordinates, failing to elicit the desired reaction from Yang Haoran's face, realized their curses were meaningless. Consequently, fewer and fewer people continued to hurl abuse, and the volume of their insults steadily diminished until, finally, no one spoke. Yet, the gaze they directed at Yang Haoran remained filled with killing intent and hatred, as if they wished to devour him.

Yang Haoran observed the expressions of these Sea Demons, yet the smile on his face did not vanish; it remained as before, as if he hadn't seen their looks of fierce hatred, wishing to devour him.

“Heh heh, does surrendering to me make you so resistant? You've all witnessed the strength of our Half-Moon Island. Becoming a member of Half-Moon Island shouldn't be a disgrace. If our Half-Moon Island gains your cooperation, then our strength will certainly rise another level. By then, dominating the entire Eastern Sunrise Ocean might not be impossible. ”

Yang Haoran's gaze swept over the Sea Demons, then settled on the two Demon Saints as he spoke with a faint smile. The reason he addressed these two Demon Saints, rather than all the subdued Sea Demons, was, firstly, because they were the ones he most desired to obtain. In his eyes, the value of these two Demon Saints far surpassed that of any other Sea Demon present.

Secondly, once the two Demon Saints submitted, the other Sea Demons would be much easier to handle. To put it plainly, the two Demon Saints were the toughest bones to gnaw on. As long as these two bones were gnawed through, the other unwilling Sea Demons would naturally be persuaded by them. The likelihood of the other Sea Demons refusing would be very low, as these unwilling Sea Demons were, after all, originally the trusted subordinates of the two Demon Saints.

“Human, kill me, dismember me, do as you please. But if you want me to submit, then stop dreaming! I would rather die than surrender to anyone, let alone a mere human. And do you truly believe that by capturing the two of us, you can dominate the entire Eastern Sunrise Ocean? You vastly underestimate our Eastern Sunrise Ocean. Sea Demons of our Demon Saint realm might not be 'a dime a dozen,' but their numbers are certainly greater than you imagine. Dominating the entire Eastern Sunrise Ocean, hmph, you're simply indulging in wishful thinking! If the Eastern Sunrise Ocean could truly be so easily dominated, it wouldn't be in such a chaotic state now! ”

The Demon Saint who spoke was precisely the one who had previously fought Bai Xue and held the upper hand. This Demon Saint was named Lei Bao, a Leopard Head Sea Demon.

The Leopard Head Sea Demon possesses a leopard's head, a human body, and a snake's tail. Its body is also covered in fish scales, and it has a dorsal fin on its back. They are a relatively common type of Sea Demon within the Eastern Sunrise Ocean's Sea Demon race. However, high-realm Leopard Head Sea Demons are rare. It is said that in the eyes of the Sea Demon race, Leopard Head Sea Demons are delicious with their tender flesh, so most of them become food for other Sea Demons before they can raise their cultivation. This results in very few high-realm Leopard Head Sea Demons, and those who, like Lei Bao, manage to advance to the Demon Saint realm are as rare as phoenix feathers.

Sea Demons also need to communicate with one another, hence the necessity of names. However, their names are usually not given by their parents but chosen by themselves. Only those Sea Demons whose parents are powerful and still alive have names given by their parents; for other Sea Demons, this is not the case.

Sea Demons name themselves differently from humans. Typically, Sea Demons do not have surnames, and their naming is more casual, without a fixed family name. For instance, Lei Bao does not have 'Lei' as a surname; he simply named himself Lei Bao because he has a leopard's head and a natural ability to control lightning.

After Lei Bao transformed into human form, he appeared as a tall, slender middle-aged man. Although not robustly built, his temperament was somewhat impetuous, a trait evident from his enraged roars during his previous battle with Bai Xue.

Currently, Lei Bao was restrained, a captive of Yang Haoran. Yet, even in this state, Lei Bao showed no intention of yielding, instead displaying extreme disdain towards Yang Haoran.

Dominating the Eastern Sunrise Ocean was no easy feat; how could Yang Haoran not know this? However, Yang Haoran still had confidence in himself, and equally in Half-Moon Island. He believed that given enough time, he would certainly be able to conquer the entire Eastern Sunrise Ocean.

“Heh heh, it is indeed unrealistic for my Half-Moon Island to dominate the entire Eastern Sunrise Ocean right now. But with the addition of you two Demon Saints, and given some more time for our Half-Moon Island to develop, then I believe dominating the entire Eastern Sunrise Ocean might not be impossible. ”

Yang Haoran smiled faintly, his face betraying no hint of displeasure. He seemed unbothered by Lei Bao's disdain and mockery.

“Hmph, I've already made it very clear to you: kill me, dismember me, do as you please. But for me, Lei Bao, to join your Half-Moon Island and pledge my life to a mere human boy—that is absolutely impossible! You'd best abandon that thought; don't waste your breath or everyone's time! ”

Judging by Lei Bao's expression and tone of voice, he wasn't merely putting on an act for Yang Haoran; he seemed to be speaking from the heart, as if he truly was prepared to face death!
