Chapter 1347: The Might of the Grand Array
Under Luo Yao's control, his three Soul Armaments launched several waves of attacks against the restricted barrier in this place within a short time. The restricted barrier consequently trembled violently. However, before he could seize this opportunity to break through the barrier in one go, a hurricane suddenly swept through the grand array, placing Luo Yao right at the eye of the storm.
An ordinary storm, of course, couldn't shake Luo Yao in the slightest. However, this suddenly formed storm was no common gale; it was one of the grand array's offensive methods. Such a storm was incomparable to a regular one, for it was empowered by the array's might, possessing extreme destructive force. Even Luo Yao dared not be careless.
Luo Yao's body swayed precariously under the storm's assault. Simultaneously, countless wind blades coalesced, their cold gleam flashing as they tore through the air, hurtling like an overwhelming deluge towards Luo Yao's position.
Swish, swish, swish! ! !
The wind blades were incredibly swift, engulfing Luo Yao in the blink of an eye. In such a situation, Luo Yao naturally had no way to continue his assault on the restricted barrier. He had to control his Soul Armaments to contend with the overwhelming storm of blades. If he were to let them go unchecked, his physical body would undoubtedly suffer immense damage.
Having dealt with the sky-filling wind blades, Luo Yao hadn't even had a moment to catch his breath when a wave of scorching heat assailed him from above. He looked up to see countless fireballs rapidly condensing directly overhead. Each fireball was only the size of an ox's head; though not large individually, their sheer numbers were immense, densely packed, no less than the previous wind blades, and each emitted a considerable power fluctuation.
The space trembled violently as innumerable fireballs, like falling meteorites, descended with an aura of destruction, crashing down towards Luo Yao's position.
Before the fireballs even arrived, the searing heat wave struck first. Under this scorching temperature, even space itself began to warp!
Boom, boom, boom, boom! ! !
The fireballs incessantly battered the protective light barrier conjured by the Ghost Art. Initially, the light barrier remained unmoving, but as more and more fireballs crashed down, it first vibrated violently, then hairline cracks began to appear. When the final wave of fireballs descended, the light barrier shattered with a resounding crash.
Although the light barrier shattered, before its demise, it still managed to block the last wave of fireballs for Luo Yao, inflicting no damage upon him.
One might think Luo Yao effortlessly blocked this wave of attacks from the grand array by merely employing a single Ghost Art, but the truth was quite the opposite. First, the Ghost Art Luo Yao used was a high-level Ghost Art of the Underworld Office, and successfully casting it alone would consume a significant amount of Spirit Power. Furthermore, to ensure the protective light barrier held until the very end, he continuously infused it with a considerable amount of Spirit Power, thus enhancing the defensive power of the protective shield.
It was precisely for this reason that the protective light barrier could endure to the last. Otherwise, the protective shield would have shattered long ago, and he would certainly have sustained some injury. Therefore, his defense against this wave of the grand array's attacks was not as effortless as it appeared on the surface.
The countless fireballs vanished, but the searing high temperature, capable of charring an ordinary person, did not dissipate immediately, lingering within the space. And at the very instant the fireballs disappeared, the ground beneath Luo Yao began to tremble violently.
Boom! ! !
The ground explosively shattered, sending a deluge of mud and rocks skyward. They rapidly coalesced in the air, and within mere breaths, these earthen fragments converged into a massive earth dragon.
Luo Yao hadn't idled during this time. The moment the ground below violently trembled, it was as if he knew what was to come. Thus, he swiftly formed hand seals, and by the time the earth dragon fully materialized in the sky, his seals were complete.
The earth dragon let out a furious roar, then stirred up a gale, sweeping up a cloud of dust, and lunged downwards towards Luo Yao.
Concurrently, a colossal bird, no smaller than the earth dragon, coalesced amidst swirling black smoke. This bird had a grotesque appearance, its body riddled with festering sores, constantly exuding a nauseating stench. It was both terrifying and repulsive.
Under Luo Yao's control, the great bird immediately launched an attack on the earth dragon. Its two claws, sharp as swords, clamped down on the earth dragon, and the two behemoths instantly became entangled in a fierce struggle.
The earth dragon radiated an earthy yellow glow, while the great bird's body was wreathed in visible black Yin Qi. Two forces of entirely different attributes collided, unleashing successive deafening roars, causing the very space to tremble beneath the impact of these two colossal beings.
Although the great bird appeared repulsive and terrifying, lacking the majestic dominance of the earth dragon, its formidable strength was in no way inferior to the earth dragon's. In fact, it even surpassed the earth dragon in raw power.
After a series of furious collisions, the earth dragon was beaten back to its original form by the great bird's fierce assault, transforming into mud and stones that rained down from the sky, as if a sudden hailstorm of earth had begun.
With the earth dragon vanquished, and the great bird also dissipating into strands of Yin Qi from exhaustion, Luo Yao did not lower his guard. He knew the grand array's attacks were far from over, and thus he dared not be careless.
Under Luo Yao's gaze, a patch of space diagonally above him violently trembled. Immediately after, a colossal, ancient-looking spear, entirely golden, suddenly coalesced. It then plunged downwards towards Luo Yao's position, causing the space along its path to intensely vibrate, and everything nearby was dyed a blinding gold.
This time, Luo Yao did not cast another Ghost Art. Instead, he controlled his three Soul Armaments, proactively sending them to confront the spear.
Although the power fluctuation emanating from the golden spear was astonishing, the power fluctuations released by Luo Yao's Soul Armaments were even stronger. With three Soul Armaments simultaneously confronting the golden spear, the outcome was self-evident: the golden spear quickly succumbed under the combined assault of the three Soul Armaments, forcibly shattered and dissolving into specks of golden light that vanished into thin air.
Though the entire process was brief and appeared effortless, the reality was quite different. In that short span, the Spirit Power Luo Yao expended was far greater than what he used to deal with the earth dragon. It was precisely because he mobilized more Spirit Power that he was able to destroy the golden spear so quickly, creating the illusion of ease.
The golden spear was not the grand array's final offensive method. After the golden spear, a rushing sound of water suddenly echoed from above Luo Yao's head. Immediately, a vast amount of blue water appeared, not falling from the sky, but floating in the air like clouds. The difference was that they weren't as still as clouds; instead, they churned violently, as if some primeval beast lurked within.
Luo Yao observed this scene, not revealing the slightest surprise on his face, for he had long anticipated its appearance.
The reason he knew this scene would occur was that all the previous attack methods — from the initial wind blades to the subsequent fireballs, earth dragon, and golden spear — had already appeared, and their sequence hadn't changed in the slightest. Hence, he was not at all surprised by what was unfolding before him.
Under Luo Yao's gaze, the violently churning blue water above swiftly coalesced into a monster with two heads, four arms, and two legs. This creature had no flesh-and-blood body; its entire grotesque form was composed of water, and four different weapons were clutched in its four hands.
As he had previously fought and successfully vanquished this monster, Luo Yao knew precisely how to deal with it.
Without any surprises, Luo Yao expended some time and Spirit Power, once again successfully slaying the water monster. This water monster was the grand array's final offensive method. Once it was vanquished, this round of the grand array's assault would be considered complete. As for whether the grand array would launch another new round of attacks, Luo Yao couldn't be certain.
However, based on his previous experience, even if the grand array were to launch another offensive, it would take at least ten to twenty minutes. He could use this interval to attack the restricted barrier released by the grand array!
