Chapter 1214: Uncontrollable Killing Intent
The scene unfolding before their eyes utterly stunned the members of the Holy Mother Cult present. They never in their wildest dreams imagined that Jing Qi would, without a word of warning, move to kill their Saint. Even more unfathomable was that their Saint hadn't even had time to react before her head was separated from her body.
They knew just how formidable their Saint's power was, yet facing Jing Qi, their Saint was so utterly vulnerable, unable to withstand even a single blow. How could this not shock them?
In truth, from the moment the Saint emerged from the spatial rift, her heart had been filled with vigilance towards Jing Qi. She knew she was facing a murderous maniac from the Demon Cult—a person capable of anything—so she couldn't afford not to be on guard.
However, she had still underestimated Jing Qi's strength. Jing Qi's strike was too swift, and its power far exceeded anything she could withstand. Thus, before she could even react, she met the fate of having her head severed from her body.
Blood spurted like a geyser from the headless corpse, and the warm gore splashed onto the faces and bodies of the other Holy Mother Cult members, jolting them out of their shock.
No sooner had they recovered from their shock than Jing Qi's form flickered and vanished from his spot, leaving them no time to scream, no time to curse, let alone utter any threats. Immediately, a series of horrific shrieks erupted, and when the screams finally ceased, not a single member of the Holy Mother Cult remained alive. All had been reduced to a pile of dismembered limbs, lying scattered in a pool of blood.
The Holy Mother Cult members had, of course, appeared before Jing Qi to prevent him from continuing his slaughter. However, they hadn't anticipated that Jing Qi would be so utterly decisive and ruthless. He didn't waste a single word on them, showing not an ounce of courtesy, but instead immediately moved to kill them upon sight. This resulted in them losing their lives the moment they arrived, without even leaving behind a complete corpse.
Gazing at the scattered limbs and severed arms on the ground, Jing Qi opened his mouth and inhaled. Both the limbs, the severed arms, and even the torsos of the corpses visibly withered at a rapid pace. Their essence of flesh and blood was extracted and drawn into Jing Qi's mouth. Not even the blood on the ground was spared; whether it lay on the surface or had already soaked beneath the earth, it rapidly converged under the influence of Jing Qi's power, likewise being swallowed by him.
Jing Qi closed his eyes, a look of profound enjoyment on his face. Then, opening his eyes, he licked his lips, as if still unsatisfied.
"When the Spirit Masters led other factions in besieging the Yin Division, you were nowhere to be seen. But now you come here to lecture me. Heh, what a pity, I don't buy into your kind of act."
With those words, Jing Qi waved his hand, forcibly condensing and extracting the souls of these individuals. After collecting their souls, he departed from the scene.
The Holy Mother Cult was also one of Ancheng's major forces, and Jing Qi understood that over the years, they must have amassed a considerable collection of valuable treasures. He certainly wouldn't miss such an opportunity, so he headed directly to Ancheng's largest Holy Mother Temple.
Without any surprise, under Jing Qi's lightning-fast methods, the Ancheng Holy Mother Cult was swiftly purged with blood. Neither Ancheng's largest Holy Mother Temple nor any of its smaller counterparts escaped Jing Qi's clutches.
Within Ancheng's largest Holy Mother Temple, Jing Qi indeed found the collection room. The Holy Mother Cult's collection room was surprisingly much larger than that of the Talisman Order, and the variety of precious items was far greater, with their sheer quantity also incomparable to the Talisman Order's.
From this alone, it was evident that the Ancheng Holy Mother Cult was considerably wealthier than the Ancheng Talisman Order. As for why it was so much richer than the Talisman Order, that involved a multitude of factors.
When Jing Qi emerged from a modest Holy Mother Temple, it signified that the Ancheng Holy Mother Cult had been annihilated by him. From this day forward, the Holy Mother Cult would cease to exist as a force in Ancheng, for this small temple was the last one he had purged with blood; all other Holy Mother Temples in Ancheng had already been slaughtered clean before this.
After eradicating the Holy Mother Cult, Jing Qi spent a little more time systematically clearing out all other factions, large and small, in Ancheng, leaving no one alive, with the sole exception of the Yin Division.
Today marked Ancheng's most gruesome day in history. Even the sky itself was dyed crimson with blood, and all of it was the work of Jing Qi alone. With his single hand, he transformed the entirety of Ancheng into a veritable hell on earth.
Jing Qi, drenched in blood, stood amidst the dense piles of corpses. The power fluctuations emanating from his body had not only not diminished but had grown even more formidable than before. This was because the essence of flesh and blood was greatly beneficial to the cultivation technique he practiced. Today, he had devoured vast quantities of this essence, leading to a significant increase in his strength. Furthermore, his opponents were, in his eyes, mere small fry, barely causing him any expenditure of energy. Thus, the power surging from within him at this moment had not only remained undiminished but had intensified.
A dense, sanguine mist constantly rose from Jing Qi's body, and the pungent stench of blood was far more intense than before. This reek of blood was partly due to the power circulating within Jing Qi, and partly due to the blood covering his entire body. However, comparatively, the latter was not as potent as the former, and the blood on Jing Qi's body did not originate from himself, but from those who had tragically died by his hand.
Sweeping his gaze over the corpses strewn across the ground, Jing Qi couldn't help but let out a few bursts of wild laughter. His mirth had a decidedly manic quality to it.
"Hahahaha, exhilarating! So exhilarating! But it's still not enough, it hasn't satiated my craving!"
Jing Qi muttered to himself, his expression frenzied. Having killed until his eyes were bloodshot, he had no desire to stop now, a fact evident from his words. However, currently, there were no other factions left in Ancheng besides the Yin Division; he had thoroughly eradicated them all. If he still wished to continue his massacre, there was only one remaining target.
This final target certainly wouldn't be the Ancheng Yin Division. No matter how insane he was, he hadn't yet reached the point of daring to attack them. His last target was instead the ordinary people of Ancheng who had been controlled by other factions.
Previously, among the targets Jing Qi had annihilated, ordinary people controlled by other factions were not within his hunting scope, with the exception of those from the Ancheng Administrative Council. One reason was that these commoners were less than ants to him; he simply couldn't muster any interest. Another reason was that the essence of flesh and blood from ordinary people offered him little benefit, at least not compared to that of non-ordinary individuals. Therefore, his primary targets had always been the non-ordinary, not the common folk.
The reason he was now setting his sights on ordinary people was simply that he hadn't killed to his satisfaction yet. The Ancheng Yin Division was absolutely untouchable, so he could only consider the commoners as his new targets for slaughter.
Jing Qi thought this, and acted upon it immediately. His body twisted momentarily before he vanished from his spot, reappearing an instant later in one of Ancheng's impoverished slums.
This slum was home to a vast population of impoverished people. They possessed neither freedom nor human rights, and everything about their lives was controlled by non-ordinary individuals, their very lives being no exception.
The drastic changes in Ancheng today had already left the ordinary citizens trembling in fear, and the residents of this slum were no different. When Jing Qi, drenched in blood and with a savage look on his face, suddenly appeared in their midst, it instantly shattered the courage of everyone in the slum.
"I haven't killed to my heart's content today, so I'll just have to make do with you all as substitutes. Anyway, your lives are full of suffering, so I'll do a good deed and help you find release."
Jing Qi spoke with a cold sneer. His voice wasn't loud, yet it clearly permeated every household, heard distinctly by everyone throughout the entire slum.
Because the bloody massacre in Ancheng today had long since terrified these ordinary people, without exception, all of them had hidden inside their homes, not daring to show their faces outside. Consequently, not a single person was visible in Jing Qi's surroundings at that moment.
Although everyone had hidden, Jing Qi's words, empowered by his strength, were utterly pervasive. No matter where these people hid in their homes, this voice, laden with intense murderous intent, clearly penetrated their ears, terrifying them greatly. Some, due to their overwhelming fear, even experienced an illusion that the voice itself carried a thick, bloody stench.
The atmosphere in the slum instantly grew incredibly oppressive, as if the sky itself were about to collapse. Many of the impoverished residents were already trembling uncontrollably from Jing Qi's words; some hid under beds, others cowered in corners, and still others squeezed into dilapidated wardrobes. Although they knew full well that such methods of evasion were utterly futile against a slaughter carried out by non-ordinary individuals, they had no other recourse.
After his words fell silent, Jing Qi swept his gaze around, then fixed it on the nearest dilapidated shack. A cold sneer on his face, he stepped forward and walked towards it.
A family resided in that shack. Apart from the patriarch, everyone else was huddled motionless in a corner, not daring to even breathe. It wasn't that they didn't want to find a more hidden spot, but the shack itself was so dilapidated that it didn't even have a proper bed, let alone any furniture substantial enough to conceal their bodies. To the family, the corner was already the safest area in the entire house.
When the man saw Jing Qi approaching their shack with a cold sneer, his face instantly drained of all color. The terror in his heart even caused his lips to tremble uncontrollably.
"He. . . he's coming. . ."
The man's voice trembled, stuttering, instantly plunging the elderly and young huddled in the corner into deep despair. The child, in particular, was so frightened that he cried out in panic, tears streaming down his face.
