Chapter 1197: Unprecedented Gains

After Yang Haoran led his people away from the Ancestral Talisman Temple, they headed to their next destination: the Gu Mo City Demon Hunter Association branch.

The reason they chose the Demon Hunter Association branch over other factions was that it was one of the few super-factions in Gu Mo City. Its accumulated collections over the years were undoubtedly far more extensive than those of ordinary major factions, so Yang Haoran naturally prioritized the Demon Hunter Association branch above all others.

Today, the Demon Hunter Association branch, much like the Talisman Order, suffered catastrophic losses. Apart from a handful who managed to survive, everyone else met a horrific end.

However, there was one crucial difference between the two: the Demon Hunters of the Demon Hunter Association branch had no deities they worshipped, nor any doctrines to adhere to. Thus, none of the surviving Demon Hunters were foolish enough to remain at the Demon Hunter Association branch, as doing so would be no different from seeking death. Therefore, they chose to flee at the first opportunity.

In contrast, the few Talisman Masters of the Talisman Order held an extremely devout faith in the Talisman Ancestor. Even though they knew staying might cost them their lives, they unhesitatingly chose to do so.

When Yang Haoran and his people arrived at the Demon Hunter Association branch, it was utterly deserted. Even the Demon Hunters who had been stationed there had vanished without a trace.

The Demon Hunter Association branch also possessed a protective grand array, but since no one had activated it, Yang Haoran and his group easily entered the branch's interior.

However, certain crucial areas, especially where the Demon Hunter Association branch stored various treasures, were still protected by restrictive barriers. These barriers remained active at all times and would not deactivate unless under specific circumstances. Thus, even with all the Demon Hunters gone, these locations remained under the barriers' protection.

For an ordinary two-star Demon Hunter, the restrictive barriers guarding these vital areas were naturally formidable, not easily breached and requiring considerable time. But for Yang Haoran, these restrictive barriers were nothing noteworthy; while not entirely useless, they could certainly be dealt with effortlessly.

With Yang Haoran's subtle assistance, the restrictive barriers within the Demon Hunter Association branch were easily dismantled, and all its collections were transferred by Lu Wu through a spatial rift to the Death God Temple.

Previously, at the Talisman Order, the greatest gains had been talismans and various materials for drawing them. Now, at the Demon Hunter Association branch, the most abundant spoils were various Demon Weapons and Demon Pills, and even Demon Spirit Liquid capable of enhancing a Demon Hunter's strength.

Besides these three categories, there was also a large quantity of gold and silver, along with miscellaneous spirit herbs, ores, and so forth.

Overall, the Demon Hunter Association branch yielded a considerable amount of valuable items. As for which faction brought in more spoils compared to the Talisman Order, it was truly difficult to compare, as the items obtained from these two factions were completely different.

After clearing out the Demon Hunter Association, Yang Haoran instructed Lu Wu to leave two individuals behind for a meticulous, "carpet" search of the Demon Hunter Association, to see if anything had slipped through their net. After all, with no Demon Hunters left here, he could do as he pleased.

Following their sweep of the Demon Hunter Association branch, Yang Haoran showed no sign of resting. He led his people to the next stop, commencing a new round of plunder.

For an entire day, Yang Haoran, accompanied by his Night Watchers, completely emptied every faction in Gu Mo City except for the Saint Mother Cult. Even insignificant minor factions that seemed beneath notice were not spared.

As he put it, "Even the smallest mosquito is still meat. " Small gains add up, and there might even be unexpected surprises, as no one could guarantee that minor factions held no treasures.

Gu Mo City still harbored some non-ordinary individuals, but they did not belong to the major factions and thus did not participate in today's bloody massacre, thereby preserving their lives.

Yang Haoran's actions, of course, were witnessed by all. Though their hearts swelled with envy and covetousness, no one dared to snatch food from the tiger's mouth, for they knew full well they lacked the strength to do so.

Opinions varied on whether Yang Haoran's approach was right or wrong. Some believed Yang Haoran had gone too far, predicting he would face significant trouble when the superiors of the major factions came knocking.

However, others felt Yang Haoran's method was perfectly justifiable. Gu Mo City was inherently a place where the strong preyed on the weak; as long as your fist was hard enough, acquiring more resources was only natural. This had always been an unwritten rule in Gu Mo City: whenever a faction was wiped out, it was certain to be ransacked. Just like when the Gu Mo City Yin Division was destroyed, its various Death God Temples were likewise plundered by all the major factions.

Thus, in their view, Yang Haoran had done nothing wrong today. For in Gu Mo City, there was no right or wrong in any action, only the victor being king and the vanquished becoming bandits!

As night fell, the entire Gu Mo City plunged into a deathly silence.

Though Gu Mo City had always been dilapidated and chaotic, it had at least possessed a semblance of life. Nights were once brightly lit, with major factions bustling with their own affairs.

Now, however, Gu Mo City's dilapidation had only worsened. After the immense upheaval of the day, the entire city had become even more broken than before.

As for the chaotic situation, it had indeed undergone a radical transformation. There were no more magical duels, no more thefts or robberies, no more non-ordinary individuals tormenting ordinary people. Everything was so harmonious and quiet. However, the source of this quietude was that all factions, large and small, in Gu Mo City, except for the Yin Division and the Saint Mother Cult, had been completely annihilated, and most of the non-ordinary people had perished. In such circumstances, Gu Mo City naturally would no longer be chaotic.

With most people dead, the sight of brightly lit nights had naturally vanished. Apart from the areas governed by the Yin Division and the Saint Mother Cult, everywhere else was shrouded in darkness.

Inside the Death God Temple, various treasures filled the dilapidated building to the brim. Yang Haoran stood amidst the vast collection, his face beaming with an extremely rich smile, for he had never before seen so many treasures.

The reason these treasures weren't put away but instead displayed throughout the Death God Temple was simply that the haul was too immense. Currently, there were no structures within this Death God Temple capable of holding such a vast quantity of items, so they could only be temporarily arranged across the temple's various open spaces.

“Emissary of Death, as per your instructions, the temple's reconstruction has already begun overnight. The first structure being built is the vault for storing various treasures! ”

With a whoosh, Lu Wu flashed to Yang Haoran's side, then spoke to him respectfully.

Today, the Death God Temple had been largely destroyed during the great battle, so it needed to be rebuilt.

Allowing the various treasures plundered from the major factions to remain openly displayed across the Death God Temple's grounds for too long was clearly unacceptable. It was too conspicuous, prone to inciting envy, and could lead to unnecessary trouble. Therefore, Yang Haoran had instructed Lu Wu to first construct the vault for storing various treasures, and to do so overnight.

To expedite the process, Yang Haoran had Lu Wu gather a large number of ordinary people here, and with the assistance of his Night Watchers, the vault would soon be successfully built.

Not only the vault, but with the help of numerous ordinary people, the entire temple could be rebuilt in a very short time.

However, Yang Haoran had no intention of treating these ordinary people like livestock. He divided them into two shifts: one group would work on construction at night and rest during the day, while the other would work during the day and rest at night. This approach would not only accelerate the rebuilding process but also ensure that these ordinary people had ample time to rest.

After listening to Lu Wu’s report, Yang Haoran nodded slightly and then spoke.

“As for the temple’s reconstruction, you can hand it over to your subordinates. Your task is to ensure our current gains are well-guarded and prevent anyone else from snatching the fallen peaches. ”

“Rest assured, Emissary of Death, your subordinate will absolutely protect our gains this time and ensure no one comes near them! ”

“Heh heh, I trust you. Go. ”

Not long after Lu Wu departed, Shui Ling also returned to the Death God Temple with her subordinates and immediately made her way to Yang Haoran’s location.
