Chapter 1193: Raiding the Home
The reason Yang Haoran forcefully condensed Wan Wu Yi’s soul and extracted it from his corpse before leaving was twofold: firstly, he didn't want Wan Wu Yi’s soul to fall into the hands of others, as Wan Wu Yi knew things he shouldn't know.
Secondly, Wan Wu Yi’s soul was still of great use to him; more accurately, there was still much value to be extracted from Wan Wu Yi's soul, and it would be too much of a pity to abandon it.
It was precisely because of these two points that he collected Wan Wu Yi’s soul before departing. However, to minimize damage to the soul, he did not immediately force it to awaken from its slumber, merely keeping it separately for the time being.
Inside the Death God Temple, Yang Haoran remained calm in the face of his Night Watchers’ cheers, his emotions unaffected by the situation.
"Big Brother, you're really fast."
Xiang Chuan chuckled at Yang Haoran. While the words themselves were innocuous, coming from Xiang Chuan with his mischievous grin, they carried a subtle, unspoken implication.
"Indeed, very fast. I intended to go immediately to support the Emissary of Death, but the battle was already over."
Lu Wu didn't find anything wrong with Xiang Chuan's words, but Xiang Chuan's earlier obstruction still left him quite displeased.
Initially, Lu Wu hesitated, thinking there might be some truth to Xiang Chuan's words. But then he felt he should still support Yang Haoran; as Yang Haoran's subordinate, it seemed unjustifiable to stand by and watch while his Emissary of Death was fighting desperately against an opponent.
Having made up his mind, he prepared to ignore Xiang Chuan's obstruction, but before he could even tear space, Yang Haoran and Wan Wu Yi's battle had already concluded.
Yang Haoran didn't immediately respond to the two of them, instead coughing painfully a few times before finally smiling and speaking.
"Being able to end the battle so quickly was because I paid a considerable price. Otherwise, that great devil, Wan Wu Yi, would certainly have escaped this time."
As Yang Haoran spoke, not only was there blood at the corner of his mouth, but his face was also quite pale. His current state lent significant credibility to his words.
Lu Wu had not the slightest doubt about Yang Haoran's words, but Xiang Chuan was the exact opposite; he didn't believe a word of it. However, he merely chuckled, without exposing him.
"Emissary of Death, your injuries look severe. You should stop talking. The top priority is to quickly heal."
Lu Wu genuinely believed Yang Haoran was gravely injured, so not only did he not doubt the truth of Yang Haoran's words, he even advised Yang Haoran with a worried expression to quickly heal.
"Heh heh, it's fine. I've already taken a Dānyào for healing, so the injuries won't worsen. Besides, we have something more important to do right now than heal."
Yang Haoran replied with a faint smile. He was merely feigning his injuries; if time allowed, he wouldn't mind putting on a healing act. But time was short now, so he naturally wouldn't waste it.
Upon hearing that Yang Haoran had something more important to do, Lu Wu's eyes lit up, and his excitement was directly visible on his face.
"Emissary of Death, no matter the task, just give your orders to your subordinate!"
His inner excitement made Lu Wu forget about Yang Haoran's injuries. For him, a fight seemed more important than anything else.
Just as Yang Haoran was about to respond, Huang Sha, whom he had stationed at the Death God Temple, arrived at his location.
Seeing Yang Haoran's pale face and weak aura, Huang Sha couldn't help but show concern.
"Boss, your injuries. . ."
Huang Sha hadn't finished speaking when Yang Haoran interrupted him with a wave and a smile.
"My injuries aren't a big deal. Just over-exertion; I won't die. You continue to remain at the Death God Temple. I still have some matters to attend to. However, your current mission is much more important than before. You must not only guard the Death God Temple but also protect the spoils of war we've obtained this time. " Yang Haoran said with a faint smile.
"Don't worry, Boss. Even if I have to risk my life, I will absolutely not allow anyone to cause trouble at this Death God Temple, nor will I let the spoils of war you worked so hard for fall into others' hands. " Huang Sha respectfully replied.
Aside from giving his assurance, Huang Sha said nothing else, not asking what Yang Haoran planned to do next, nor showing any dissatisfaction with Yang Haoran's arrangements.
"I'm very confident leaving this matter to you."
As his voice fell, Yang Haoran looked towards Lu Wu, then continued to speak.
"Call all your people, then come with me."
"Yes! Emissary of Death!"
Lu Wu respectfully responded, then, following Yang Haoran's instructions, summoned all his Night Watchers.
"Heh heh, Big Brother, should I stay here, or go with you? " Xiang Chuan asked.
"Heh heh, come along. Isn't that what you were thinking anyway? " Yang Haoran said with a smile.
Yang Haoran was indeed correct; Xiang Chuan did want to go along. But no matter how much he wanted to, he needed Yang Haoran's permission. Upon receiving Yang Haoran's affirmative reply, the smile on his face couldn't help but deepen.
"Should we call Shui Ling back too? After all, Lu Wu doesn't have many Night Watchers left. Raiding a home requires a quick resolution, otherwise, if any unforeseen variables arise, it would be too much of a pity. " Xiang Chuan suggested with a smile.
"Shui Ling hasn't returned yet, which means her mission isn't over, so there's no need to recall her. Although Lu Wu doesn't have many Night Watchers, it's barely enough. " Yang Haoran said with a smile.
Seeing Yang Haoran say this, Xiang Chuan said nothing further. A moment later, Lu Wu gathered all his Night Watchers, and then, under Yang Haoran's leadership, they tore space and departed the Death God Temple once more.
Yang Haoran's first destination was Wan Wu Yi's lair.
Gu Mo City had many Demon Cult members, but now there were hardly any Demon Cult members left in Gu Mo City. This was because, before today, the Demon Cult members who were unwilling to follow Wan Wu Yi had almost all been purged by him. Even if there were a few stragglers who slipped through the net, there certainly weren't many.
As for the Demon Cult members who were willing to follow Wan Wu Yi, all of them tragically died in today's bloody battle, and some were even personally dealt with by Wan Wu Yi himself.
Since most Demon Cult members in Gu Mo City preferred to operate independently, their lairs were not as concentrated as those of other factions. The reason Yang Haoran chose Wan Wu Yi's lair as his first destination was that Wan Wu Yi was one of the few big shots in Gu Mo City's Demon Cult, and his lair was sure to contain a considerable collection.
To be fair, no matter how vast Wan Wu Yi's collection was, it certainly couldn't surpass those of major factions; after all, how could one person's collection be more than an entire faction's? Yang Haoran chose to go to Wan Wu Yi's lair first instead of the major factions, and there was, of course, a reason for his consideration.
The location of Wan Wu Yi's lair was not a secret in Gu Mo City. When Yang Haoran led Xiang Chuan and the others out of the spatial rift, they arrived at their destination.
"The old rule: take anything of value, leave not a single item behind."
Yang Haoran ordered Lu Wu. Upon receiving the command, Lu Wu immediately led his Night Watchers to clear out Wan Wu Yi's lair.
"Big Brother, Wan Wu Yi is a Demon Cult member. No matter how many things he collected, you probably won't find much use for them. I think it would be more suitable to first clear out the Talisman Order. Although you and I aren't Talisman Masters, their talismans can still be put to good use by us."
Xiang Chuan didn't know that Yang Haoran was actually a Talisman Master, which is why he said this. From his perspective, he believed going to the Talisman Order first would yield greater rewards than coming to Wan Wu Yi's lair.
"Heh heh, no rush. The next stop is the Talisman Order. If you want to get there faster, go help. Relying solely on Lu Wu and his Night Watchers might make it difficult to break through the restricted defenses here."
