Chapter 1191: Severed Arm into Demon

Wan Wu Yi had clearly succeeded in hiding before, and no one knew where he was concealed. Even Yang Haoran couldn't be certain if he was dead or alive.

Under those circumstances, he could have completely escaped the Ancient Demon Palace, or even found a way to flee Gu Mo City. Yet, he chose not to. Instead, the moment Yang Haoran departed, he reappeared and reactivated the Blood-Refining Grand Array.

His actions, naturally, would be incomprehensible to many, as they seemed no different from courting death. However, he had a compelling reason for doing what he did.

The disappearances in Gu Mo City before, including today's bloody massacre, all originated from him. His sole purpose in doing all of this was to obtain the true Heart Demon Flute.

The Heart Demon Flute was once the ancient demon's most formidable demonic artifact. Before its demise, the ancient demon utilized a secret art to carve out a separate, independent space directly above the Ancient Demon Palace's main hall, concealing the Heart Demon Flute within it.

To open this independent space and retrieve the Heart Demon Flute, one first required a vast quantity of fresh blood. Second, the Demon Cult's renowned Blood-Refining Grand Array was necessary. Once both conditions were met, one also had to manipulate the Blood-Refining Grand Array according to a unique method. Only after this independent space opened and consumed sufficient fresh blood could the Heart Demon Flute, hidden within, be retrieved!

This information had been left behind by the ancient demon. Wan Wu Yi, fortunately, stumbled upon a portion of the ancient demon's inheritance, which was precisely how he came to learn of these secrets.

Upon learning of the Heart Demon Flute's existence, he immediately began plotting how to retrieve it. The power of the Heart Demon Flute was truly captivating; let alone the genuine article, even the counterfeit version he had refined possessed abnormal potency. The immense power of the true Heart Demon Flute was easily imaginable, so how could he not be tempted? Thus, the scenes unfolding today were born.

As for why he was so desperate to reactivate the Blood-Refining Grand Array today, it was because the fresh blood seeping into the ground could not be allowed to linger for too long. If he failed to promptly activate the Blood-Refining Grand Array and allow the independent space to consume this blood, then it would lose its intended effect. At that point, even if he were to restart the Blood-Refining Grand Array, it would be absolutely impossible to obtain the Heart Demon Flute, and he wouldn't even be able to open the independent space created by the ancient demon.

Wan Wu Yi coveted the Heart Demon Flute, and he craved it with extreme urgency. Furthermore, he was keenly aware that if he missed this opportunity today, while it might not be gone forever, it would certainly be incredibly difficult to find another.

It was precisely for this reason that he didn't choose to flee. Instead, he risked his life to appear and reactivate the Blood-Refining Grand Array.

And at this very moment, the reason Wan Wu Yi was able to seize the Heart Demon Flute immediately was simple: he wasn't far from its location, he utilized his full speed, and his reaction time was exceptionally quick, which allowed him to succeed.

However, Yang Haoran's speed was equally swift. The very instant Wan Wu Yi grasped the Heart Demon Flute, Remnant Moon materialized directly before him.

In desperation, Wan Wu Yi immediately manipulated the array disk as a shield. Though he clutched the Heart Demon Flute in one hand, it was ultimately not a defensive treasure. If Yang Haoran were to destroy the Heart Demon Flute, all his efforts would be for naught.

If he were to block directly with his hand, he knew that with his current strength, his protective demonic qi wouldn't be able to withstand Remnant Moon. His arm would undoubtedly be severed. Thus, with no other option, he could only use the array disk, controlled by his other hand, as a temporary means to fend off Remnant Moon.

Under the augmentation of Wan Wu Yi's power, the array disk rapidly swelled in size, spinning swiftly like a thick, sturdy wall, interposing itself before him. The black light of Remnant Moon, precisely at that moment, slammed into the array disk.

Boom! ! !

With a deafening crash, the array disk exploded on the spot, utterly incapable of withstanding Remnant Moon. The powerful impact directly sent Wan Wu Yi, who was behind the disk, flying backwards once more.

Although constructing the array disk and formation flags for the Blood-Refining Grand Array had consumed a vast amount of Wan Wu Yi's resources and time, he currently had no leisure for heartache or regret over the shattered disk. This was because, after smashing through the array disk, Remnant Moon continued its assault towards him without any reduction in speed.

The distance between them was minimal, and Remnant Moon's speed was blistering, leaving Wan Wu Yi no time to employ any other techniques. He could only force his backward-flying body into a desperate dodge.

Chhh!

The sound of a sharp blade slicing through flesh resounded. Though Wan Wu Yi had evaded a fatal blow, Remnant Moon still claimed one of his arms. Fortunately, it wasn't the hand clutching the Heart Demon Flute, but rather the one that had controlled the array disk.

The arm detached from his body, and fresh blood spurted forth. Wan Wu Yi drew a sharp, cold breath. He didn't cry out in agony, but his blood-red face was now etched with profound pain.

Beyond the pain, there was a deep-seated hatred for Yang Haoran!

The arm, severed from his body, did not plummet downwards but instead hovered quietly in mid-air. Through some unknown art of Wan Wu Yi's, this arm suddenly detonated. The powerful shockwave from the explosion repelled the once more incoming Remnant Moon a considerable distance.

The exploded arm transformed into a cloud of blood mist. The mist violently churned before coalescing into a humanoid monster. This creature was devoid of skin, resembling a flayed human. Though utterly disgusting in appearance, the power fluctuations emanating from it were immensely potent.

Upon its appearance, the monster actually launched an offensive against Remnant Moon. It was then that Wan Wu Yi's voice, brimming with resentment, echoed through the air.

“Yang Haoran, I'll remember this debt! ”

As his voice rang out, Wan Wu Yi attempted to forcibly tear open a spatial rift to escape the area.

The shattering of the array disk caused the blood-red barrier of light that had enveloped the entire Gu Mo City to vanish as well. Without the influence of the restrictive barrier, Wan Wu Yi temporarily regained the ability to tear space.

As for why he chose to flee rather than confront Yang Haoran head-on, he had his reasons. He had already exhausted all his techniques, his physical body was pushed to its limits, and Yang Haoran had even severed one of his arms. If he didn't leave this place quickly, he would undoubtedly be the one to die, not Yang Haoran.

Although he had now obtained the Heart Demon Flute, if he chose to clash with Yang Haoran, the ultimate outcome would remain the same: he would still die tragically at Yang Haoran's hands. He knew perfectly well that Yang Haoran wouldn't give him a chance to fully utilize the Heart Demon Flute.

He wasn't foolish, so he knew that confronting Yang Haoran in his current state would yield no benefit. The best course of action was to first escape this place, find a secluded spot to recuperate. Once his injuries had healed, and with the Demon Cult's supreme treasure, the Heart Demon Flute, in his grasp, he was 100% confident he could kill Yang Haoran.

He had previously boasted that today he would fight Yang Haoran to the death, and at the time, he genuinely intended to. However, reality had shown him that he simply couldn't achieve that today, even with the successful acquisition of the Heart Demon Flute. Since he clearly knew he couldn't eliminate Yang Haoran today, he certainly wasn't foolish enough to stubbornly persist. While he understood that fleeing would be a huge loss of face, in his current predicament, he couldn't afford to worry about such trivialities. Compared to his very life, losing face was utterly insignificant.

The humanoid monster was already locked in fierce combat with Remnant Moon. The monster's strength was formidable; it was actually able to contend with Remnant Moon on equal terms.

This humanoid monster was a product of Wan Wu Yi employing a secret art of the Demon Cult. To cast such a technique, one had to sacrifice a specific part of their body, using it as an offering to condense this terrifying creature. Under normal circumstances, Wan Wu Yi would naturally never discard a part of his own body, for once it was done, it could never be recovered or regenerated, leaving him a cripple for life.

But now, with the situation critical, and his arm already severed by Yang Haoran – making it useless anyway – he simply chose to employ the secret art, fully utilizing the last vestiges of value from that limb.

It was precisely because this secret art was so bloody and cruel that its power was proportionally greater, allowing the condensed monster to fight Remnant Moon on equal footing.

Wan Wu Yi paid no mind to the monster. In his eyes, it was merely a tool to buy him time to escape. In any case, the creature would vanish once the secret art's duration expired, so there was no point in caring.

His utmost priority now was to swiftly depart this place, while the monster could still keep Yang Haoran occupied.

Space was torn open. Wan Wu Yi, seething with fury and humiliation, prepared to enter the spatial rift and escape.

Yang Haoran witnessed all of Wan Wu Yi's actions. Naturally, he wouldn't stand by and watch Wan Wu Yi simply escape!
