Chapter 1178: The Tragic Death of the Corpse King

Facing the onslaught of numerous ghost heads, the significantly weakened Corpse King simply couldn't hold his ground.

Had Shang Yuanqi been the one unleashing the Spiritualist Ghost Art, the Corpse King certainly wouldn't have been reduced to such a state. However, the one deploying the Spiritual Ghost Tree now was Big Sister, who had successfully broken through to the Grand Spirit Master realm. The Spiritual Ghost Tree she conjured was simply beyond anything Shang Yuanqi could manifest.

The most terrifying aspect of the ghost heads wasn't their horrific visages, nor was it their bone-chilling laughter; these could only frighten ordinary people and held no sway whatsoever over non-ordinary individuals who harbored no fear of ghosts. Their true menace lay in their elongated and extremely sharp tongues.

Though the Corpse King's physical defenses were formidable, he could not withstand the relentless assault of these tongues. In mere moments, the Corpse King's body was marred with numerous perforations by the tongues of countless ghost heads. Already seriously wounded, his injuries worsened considerably in an instant, and his strength diminished even further compared to before the ghost heads' assault.

Shang Yuanqi, who had been suffocated under the relentless pressure from the Corpse King, couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Had Big Sister not intervened in time, he would have likely perished at the Corpse King's hands before long.

With the tide now turned, Shang Yuanqi was elated, but he didn't stand idle. He unleashed whatever destructive techniques he possessed upon the Corpse King. Having been continuously beaten down by the Corpse King before, nearly losing his life multiple times, the resentment he harbored was beyond words. Now that he finally had the chance to turn the tables, he naturally wanted to vent all the pent-up rage and frustration he felt towards the Corpse King.

Beyond that, he had another thought in mind: to quickly eliminate the Corpse King so he could help Big Sister deal with Yang Haoran.

This Corpse King was truly dense. Placed in such a disadvantageous situation, he showed not the slightest intention of fleeing; he was still stubbornly resisting.

As one might expect, a few minutes later, the Corpse King let out a pained and unwilling shriek, his body plummeting from the air and crashing violently onto the ground, kicking up a significant amount of dust.

Within the swirling dust, the Corpse King struggled a few times, seemingly wanting to stand up and continue fighting, but he ultimately failed to get back on his feet.

At this moment, his life hung by a thread, his entire body covered in countless, dense perforations, looking like a honeycomb. These holes were, of course, left by the ghost heads.

Although the Corpse King had fallen, the numerous ghost heads still showed no intention of letting him off. They swarmed forward, scrambling over each other, and once again unleashed their sharp tongues at the motionless Corpse King on the ground.

The sound of sharp objects piercing flesh echoed continuously. These ghost heads' tongues were like rapid-fire machine guns, raining down upon the Corpse King's body. The Corpse King, who was hanging by his last breath, how could he endure such torment? His last breath escaped him, and he died a complete and utter death.

It was truly tragic that this Corpse King, after finally managing to advance to the Corpse King realm and regaining a new soul to achieve rebirth, hadn't had the chance to properly behold this world, nor had he had the chance to accomplish anything, before meeting such a tragic end here, especially ending his life in such a manner.

The gray Corpse Qi rapidly receded from the Corpse King's body, and not the slightest trace of life could be detected from him. The ghost heads ceased their attacks on the Corpse King, for his corpse had been mutilated beyond recognition. No matter how robust his body was, it could not avoid being reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.

His demise was entirely self-inflicted. Had he chosen to flee when the situation turned unfavorable, escaping would not have been a difficult feat for him, given his abilities. After all, his opponent just now wasn't Yang Haoran, but Shang Yuanqi, who lacked the ability to restrain him if he wished to flee.

Yet, he stubbornly refused to flee, even intending to slay everyone present. This was truly courting death; he had effectively cut off his own escape route.

Of course, one couldn't entirely blame him. Having only just regained his soul, his mind wasn't quite sharp enough. Had it been another Corpse King who had fully stabilized in this realm, then today's battle would undoubtedly have unfolded quite differently.

Having dealt with the Corpse King, Shang Yuanqi and the numerous ghost heads didn't linger where they were. Instead, they rushed towards Big Sister's position, preparing to assist her in confronting Yang Haoran.

Yang Haoran was not as fragile as the Corpse King. His situation was quite the opposite of the Corpse King's.

The Spiritual Ghost Tree indeed had a certain impact on Yang Haoran, but this impact was not fatal to him. Under his counterattack, numerous ghost heads were shredded into fragments by Remnant Moon, dissipating into Yin Qi.

And although he hadn't employed a Ghost Art, his inherent strength was undeniable. Even without a Ghost Art, the destructive power of his pure Spirit Power was equally astonishing. It was just that, compared to before, the power fluctuations he emanated had diminished somewhat.

The power within Big Sister's body continued to surge, but compared to before, the rate of her ascent had slowed considerably.

Even though the increase was gradual, the power fluctuations she emanated had reached an exceedingly formidable level, far surpassing that of a newly breakthrough Grand Spirit Master. Even compared to Yang Haoran at this moment, the gap was no longer particularly vast.

As Yang Haoran had been continuously expending energy, his power was steadily diminishing. Conversely, Big Sister's power was still increasing. Even if the increase was gradual, it was still an increase. If this continued, it would only be a matter of time before Big Sister's power surpassed Yang Haoran's.

Shang Yuanqi and the numerous ghost heads joined the fray. Shang Yuanqi launched fierce attacks on Yang Haoran, while simultaneously feeling a profound shock, though this shock wasn't directed at Yang Haoran, but at Big Sister.

He was aware that Big Sister nurtured a large number of ghostly beings, but he didn't know her true intention for doing so. After witnessing Big Sister devour all the ghostly beings with his own eyes, he understood her purpose.

This, however, wasn't the source of his astonishment. He was shocked because after these ghostly beings were consumed by Big Sister, they could actually bring such an enormous boost to Big Sister's strength!

As a fellow Spirit Medium, he knew perfectly well how much improvement he and his Guardian Spirit could gain by devouring different types of ghostly beings. Although the number of ghostly beings Big Sister had consumed was large, and none of them were weak, judging from his experience, it would already be quite remarkable if those ghostly beings allowed Big Sister to successfully step into the Grand Spirit Master realm.

Yet the result far exceeded his expectations. Not only had Big Sister broken through to the Grand Spirit Master realm, but her power was even still soaring upwards. In his view, this was utterly impossible, yet it was unfolding right before his eyes. How could he not be shocked?

He wasn't foolish either. Since Big Sister had managed to achieve this, it must be because she had employed some technique unknown to him.

Though shocked inwardly, he didn't press for answers. Not only was the current situation inappropriate, but even if they were alone, he wouldn't dare to inquire further about such a matter.

Time ticked by, and the clashes between the two sides grew increasingly fierce. Numerous ghost heads were shredded one by one by the sharp Remnant Moon, until finally, even the Spiritual Ghost Tree was destroyed by Remnant Moon.

Shang Yuanqi's strength in Gu Mo City was undeniably that of someone with few rivals, but participating in this current battle, his strength appeared somewhat inadequate. Not only did he fail to inflict any significant harm on Yang Haoran, but he nearly died at Yang Haoran's hands multiple times. Had Big Sister not intervened to save him, Shang Yuanqi would be a corpse by now.

Although Shang Yuanqi was still alive, caught in a battle of this intensity, he was not much different from a dead man.

As for Big Sister, though her strength had explosively increased, she hadn't managed to evade all of Yang Haoran's attacks. She had still sustained some injuries, but these injuries were not fatal to her.

Yang Haoran was much the same. In the face of Big Sister's counterattacks, he, too, had accumulated numerous wounds on his body, and his clothes were tattered, but his aura had not diminished because of his injuries.

With the Spiritual Ghost Tree gone, Big Sister immediately unleashed the Spiritual Art, Yin Wind Blade. The two Spiritual Arts seamlessly linked together, leaving Yang Haoran no time to catch his breath.

Yin Wind Blade was a very common Spiritual Art. While not all Spirit Mediums knew it, most of them certainly did.

What was originally a very common Spiritual Art, when unleashed by Big Sister, transformed from something ordinary into something extraordinary. The sky-filling Yin Wind Blades lashed out at Yang Haoran like a torrential downpour, with an incredibly grand and powerful momentum!

"Hehehehe, Yang Haoran, are you going to keep pretending in front of me? If you don't use your second Soul Armament soon, you probably won't have another chance to use it!"
