Chapter 1169: The Corpse King's Fury

The illusion Wan Wu Yi first broke through was indeed an illusion, not a real world. This illusion was set up by Shang Yuanqi's Guardian Spirit. Although the illusion was powerful, Wan Wu Yi's strength was not weak. After infusing a vast amount of power into his eyes, he successfully dispelled the illusion.

However, he hadn't realized that he was being simultaneously deceived by not just one, but two illusions. Everything he had experienced before being struck was, in fact, merely a false image created by the second illusion, and this second illusion originated from Big Sister's Guardian Spirit.

Wan Wu Yi himself possessed no ocular techniques. To break through illusions laid by spectral entities, he had only one method: to infuse his own power into his eyes. However, this approach wasn't capable of dispelling all illusions; if it exceeded the scope of his abilities, the illusion simply could not be broken.

Of course, even with an ocular technique, if the illusion's strength surpassed the limits of one's capabilities, it would still be impossible to shatter it. It's just that, by comparison, possessing an ocular technique for breaking illusions is vastly superior to not having one; the two cannot be mentioned in the same breath.

Wan Wu Yi's disadvantage lay precisely in his lack of an ocular technique. If he had possessed an ocular technique to break illusions, perhaps he wouldn't have fallen at this moment, or at least not so swiftly, even if he were to fall.

Big Sister and Shang Yuanqi joined forces, and in a short span, they broke through the blood-red barrier, leaving Wan Wu Yi to fall into a pool of blood. To achieve this in such a brief period, Shang Yuanqi's contribution was invaluable, but Big Sister was the key. If she hadn't expended a large amount of Communication Power to summon the Spirit Aspect, and unhesitatingly controlled it to break through the blood-red barrier, Shang Yuanqi wouldn't even have had a chance to attack Wan Wu Yi.

Furthermore, Big Sister's Guardian Spirit was also a crucial factor. If Big Sister's Guardian Spirit hadn't been a Blood-Clad Evil Spirit, then the second illusion could not have successfully deceived Wan Wu Yi.

Wan Wu Yi had fallen. This scene left those present who had not yet fled both shocked and excited.

For in their eyes, Wan Wu Yi's fall meant that this bloody and brutal battle was nearing its end, and they, too, would consequently save their lives. This naturally filled them with joy. However, what they didn't know was that matters were far from as simple as they imagined.

When the blood-red barrier was shattered by the Spirit Aspect, the Corpse King immediately dodged. At that moment, he didn't choose to evade alone but rather took Wan Wu Yi with him as they fled the spot. However, Wan Wu Yi had already fallen into the illusion at the time and hadn't noticed this.

If the Corpse King hadn't taken action and brought Wan Wu Yi away from the spot, Wan Wu Yi would have been instantly taken down by Shang Yuanqi's charged attack, never to witness those scenes in the illusion again.

After the Corpse King brought Wan Wu Yi away from the spot, he had just released Wan Wu Yi, before he could say or do anything, Wan Wu Yi fled the spot at an extremely fast speed. It was then that Shang Yuanqi's attack struck again, missing Wan Wu Yi, but instead hitting the Corpse King.

Shang Yuanqi's attack caused a certain degree of damage to the Corpse King, but this injury was not enough to destroy or cripple him. After all, he was a Corpse King, not a Corpse Puppet.

The Corpse King, reacting to what had happened, was furious. He ignored Wan Wu Yi, who had fled the spot, and instead set his sights on Shang Yuanqi as his target. The reason was simple: Shang Yuanqi had struck him, and he had to strike back. Unless he killed Shang Yuanqi to vent his anger, he would feel incredibly ill at ease.

Big Sister reacted swiftly. As the Corpse King prepared to attack Shang Yuanqi, Big Sister immediately controlled the Spirit Aspect, launching a preemptive strike against the Corpse King. Before the Corpse King could even get close to Shang Yuanqi, he was struck by a punch from the Spirit Aspect. His body flew out like a cannonball, crashing through and collapsing a distant side hall.

Meanwhile, Wan Wu Yi, still deeply entangled in the illusion and unaware of his true predicament, was struck by Shang Yuanqi's fatal blow and fell into a pool of blood.

The people from the various major factions had originally been besieging Yang Haoran. Seeing Wan Wu Yi fall into a pool of blood and the Corpse King sent flying, they felt both shocked and delighted, as if people trapped in darkness had suddenly seen a glimmer of dawn.

But precisely at this moment, a deafening bang jolted them back to reality.

Boom! ! !

From the ruins, a figure burst through the dust and shot out. This person was none other than the Corpse King, who had been sent flying by the Spirit Aspect.

The Corpse King stood suspended in mid-air, his face etched with fury. He first glanced at Shang Yuanqi and Big Sister, then turned his gaze to Wan Wu Yi, lying motionless in a pool of blood. Seeing that Wan Wu Yi was unmoving and that he could no longer sense any vital signs, he opened his mouth and uttered two words.

"Useless. . . trash. . . "

The Corpse King had only spoken two words before retracting his gaze, then looked up at the massive Spirit Aspect hovering above Big Sister.

"I. . . I'm going to. . . smash. . . smash it! "

His voice was stiff and somewhat hoarse. Though only a few words, they exuded a powerful murderous intent. When the last word fell, the Corpse King's body immediately charged forward.

The vast majority of people, in such a situation, if they chose to act against Big Sister, would absolutely directly attack Big Sister herself, rather than the Spirit Aspect she summoned. This was because once Big Sister died, the Spirit Aspect would naturally dissipate with her.

Moreover, even if they couldn't kill Big Sister quickly, it wouldn't matter; as long as they could grievously injure her, the objective could still be achieved, because a grievously injured Big Sister would find it difficult to continue maintaining the Spirit Aspect.

Conversely, if one attacked the Spirit Aspect, it would be akin to walking into the muzzle of a gun. To give a simple analogy: if you want to kill someone holding a gun, do you kill the person directly, or destroy the gun first?

This was a no-brainer. The vast majority of people would definitely choose to attack the person directly, not the gun. The current situation followed the same logic; facing such circumstances, most people would choose to attack Big Sister, not the Spirit Aspect.

However, the Corpse King's approach was different. Taking the lead in the attack, he did not immediately charge towards Big Sister, but instead rushed directly towards the Spirit Aspect hovering above her.

Enveloped by greyish Corpse Qi, he arrived before the Spirit Aspect's two giant heads in the blink of an eye and assumed an attacking stance!

Big Sister knew that her previous attack couldn't have taken the Corpse King's life, so she hadn't lowered her guard, continuously paying attention to the movements in the ruins where the Corpse King was.

After the Corpse King burst from the ruins, she didn't immediately attack him. That was because she, too, needed to catch her breath. Although the Spirit Aspect had only launched a few attacks since its summoning, each strike was a considerable drain on her. If she didn't take a moment to recuperate and forcefully continued controlling the Spirit Aspect, it would not only accelerate the consumption of Communication Power within her body but also inflict a certain degree of damage to her physical body.

Therefore, when the Corpse King rushed out of the ruins, she didn't immediately attack. Instead, while guarding against the Corpse King, she waited for him to make his move, so she could then counter each move as it came.

However, when she discovered that the Corpse King, who had initiated the attack, wasn't targeting her, but rather the Spirit Aspect hovering above her, she was momentarily stunned. She clearly hadn't anticipated the Corpse King making such a decision.

After that momentary stun, she immediately understood. The Corpse King had only recently advanced, and its nascent soul wasn't entirely clear yet. It was no surprise at all that it would make such a decision.

Although it was somewhat unexpected that the Corpse King would target the Spirit Aspect, Big Sister did not relax her vigilance because of it, nor did she allow the Corpse King to attack the Spirit Aspect unchecked. If the Corpse King truly managed to destroy the Spirit Aspect, she, as the summoner, would also suffer a considerable impact. If she were to voluntarily disperse the Spirit Aspect, however, she would not be affected at all.

Having already prepared and constantly keeping an eye on the Corpse King, Big Sister didn't panic when faced with this situation. As the Corpse King swung its fist, preparing to smash one of the Spirit Aspect's heads, both of the Spirit Aspect's heads simultaneously opened their large mouths and blew a gust of air towards the Corpse King.

Boom! ! !

With a loud bang, the gust of air blown from the Spirit Aspect's two heads was substantial. The Corpse King's punch shattered the air blown from one head, but the gust from the other head struck his body, sending him flying a certain distance while also inflicting some damage upon him.
