Chapter 1079: Out of the Wolf's Den, Into the Tiger's Lair

Flashback to the moment the Corpse Sect Door Master was rescued. Before the Corpse Sect Door Master could even react to what was happening, his body was drawn into a space crack. Severely wounded and caught completely by surprise, the sudden, unannounced teleportation sent his mind reeling in a dizzying haze.

However, it wasn't his first time traversing a space crack, so the dizziness didn't last long. He quickly reoriented himself from that state.

Just as he shook off the dizziness brought on by the teleportation, a crack appeared in space once more, and he was violently flung to the ground.

He looked up and around, realizing he had arrived in an unfamiliar area he had never set foot in before.

It was a luxuriously decorated hall, yet despite its clean and tidy appearance, a potent scent of blood permeated the air.

"Corpse Sect Door Master, long time no see."

Just as the Corpse Sect Door Master was pondering where this place was and who had transported him here, a man's voice suddenly rang out from behind him.

Following the source of the voice, a young man entered the Corpse Sect Door Master's line of sight.

The man was not old, appearing to be in his early twenties, with a face like polished jade and bright eyes and teeth. However, these were not his most captivating features; his most captivating feature was his skin.

His skin was very fair, but not the unhealthy, pale kind. Instead, it was a translucent white with a hint of rosy red, appearing not only healthy but also incredibly supple and delicate, like a baby's skin.

Such skin would undoubtedly make countless women feel self-conscious. Even women who used expensive skincare products daily might not be able to maintain their skin so perfectly. To see such smooth, supple skin on a man was naturally even more difficult.

The Corpse Sect Door Master's gaze fell upon the man, and his expression subtly shifted. From his reaction, it was clear that he recognized this young man.

"No wonder there's such a strong smell of blood here. So, it was you who saved me!"

The Corpse Sect Door Master spoke, but his words conveyed no hint of excitement or joy. Instead, his tone carried an air of vigilance.

"Are you surprised? You shouldn't be. When I stepped in to save you, did you not notice that dense aura of blood? Even if you didn't guess it was me, you should have at least guessed it was someone from our Demon Cult, right? Haha, you must have been scared senseless then, which is why you didn't notice."

The man burst into laughter. His tone, his facial expression, and the meaning behind his words were all brimming with mockery towards the Corpse Sect Door Master.

The Corpse Sect Door Master's brow furrowed, his face a grim mask. If he had had a choice, he would absolutely not have opted to enter the space crack and be teleported here. He would rather have entrusted his life to Xia Xinger than allow the individual before him to control him.

As the Door Master of the Corpse Sect in Gu Mo City, he held a significant status and possessed formidable strength. Therefore, there were few people in Gu Mo City whom he truly feared, but this young man before him was one of them, and indeed, the very top of that list.

Even at his peak, he had been deeply wary of this man. Now, severely wounded, with his Corpse Ghoul destroyed and his strength greatly diminished, his apprehension naturally grew. It was only due to pride that he hadn't revealed the fear in his heart.

Precisely because of this inner dread, even with the man's overt mockery, he could only fume inwardly, daring not to speak out, let alone attempt to teach the other party a lesson.

"Wan Wu Yi, thank you for saving me today. I will remember this favor and repay it another day. I must take my leave!"

The Corpse Sect Door Master forcefully suppressed his inner fury. Although his expression remained unpleasant, he still bowed to the man, not only offering thanks but also making a pledge.

As his words fell, the Corpse Sect Door Master turned, intending to depart. But only after turning did he realize he had no idea where the exit to this grand hall was, and the direction he was currently facing offered no visible way out.

"Heh heh, already trying to leave? I went through all that trouble and took such a great risk to pull you back from the Ghost Gate, and you think you can just brush me off with a casual promise? Aren't you looking down on me a bit too much?"

Wan Wu Yi spoke with a cold sneer, but his words did not dissuade the Corpse Sect Door Master from his desire to leave.

The Corpse Sect Door Master didn't respond. With his back to Wan Wu Yi, his gaze frantically scanned the hall for an exit.

At this moment, he was already cursing furiously in his heart, berating his own incredibly bad luck. He had just escaped the wolf's den only to fall into the tiger's lair, given no chance to catch his breath, as if fate were toying with him.

The reason he was so eager to leave was that he knew Wan Wu Yi was a very dangerous individual. He didn't want to stay with him any longer, not even for a second.

After a quick search, he successfully located the exit of the grand hall. Overjoyed, he intended to rush towards it and put distance between himself and Wan Wu Yi. However, at that very moment, Wan Wu Yi spoke with a cold laugh.

"I don't want you to leave just yet. Do you understand what I mean?"

The Corpse Sect Door Master's body trembled. His form, which had been poised to rush out, now froze rigidly in place.

Of course, he wanted to bolt for the exit of the hall, but he didn't dare. Wan Wu Yi's words were already a warning—or rather, a threat, which was more accurate. If he ignored the warning and insisted on leaving, Wan Wu Yi would undoubtedly make a move against him. There was no question about it.

Even at his peak, with his Corpse Ghoul still under his command, he didn't believe he could defeat Wan Wu Yi. Now, severely wounded, and with the Corpse Ghoul he had painstakingly nurtured annihilated, how could he possibly be Wan Wu Yi's opponent in this state? He had no doubt that Wan Wu Yi could instantly kill him with a single move.

He didn't force his departure because he dared not. So, filled with suppressed resentment and dread, he turned his face dark, and looked at Wan Wu Yi.

"Wan Wu Yi, if there's anything you need me to do, I'll agree to it all. But for now, could you please allow me to leave first? I need to heal my injuries immediately."

The Corpse Sect Door Master spoke in a low voice. Although his expression remained as unpleasant as before, his tone had changed somewhat, even taking on a pleading note.

"Heh heh, alright, stop pretending in front of me. While your injuries aren't light, they're not so severe that you need to immediately enter secluded cultivation to heal. Besides, ever since you took that Dānyào, your injuries have been healing on their own every moment, and at a decent speed. To be in such a rush to leave now is a bit much."

Wan Wu Yi spoke with a cold sneer. Not only did he refuse the Corpse Sect Door Master's request, but he also exposed his shoddy lie.

The Corpse Sect Door Master cursed inwardly. Finding a place to heal was merely an excuse; his main goal was to avoid staying with the dangerous Wan Wu Yi. However, from the current situation, it seemed Wan Wu Yi had no intention of letting him go.

Though he had already cursed Wan Wu Yi's ancestors eighteen generations back in his mind, he dared not voice any of it aloud, knowing it would be a death wish.

He forcefully suppressed the rage in his heart, then spoke to Wan Wu Yi.

"Speak. What do you want me to do?"

There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world. The Corpse Sect Door Master understood the dynamic between himself and Wan Wu Yi. Wan Wu Yi would never help him without reason. Since Wan Wu Yi had rescued him from the brink of death, he must surely have ulterior motives.

He couldn't win a fight, nor could he deceive his way out. Knowing escape was futile, he simply asked Wan Wu Yi about his intentions.

"Haha, if you had been so sensible earlier, I wouldn't have needed to threaten you, would I?"

Wan Wu Yi burst into laughter, while the Corpse Sect Door Master's face turned even grimmer than before.

The Corpse Sect Door Master remained silent. After Wan Wu Yi finished laughing, he flashed forward, appearing right in front of the Corpse Sect Door Master. The latter jumped in surprise, quickly retreating a step, putting a slight distance between himself and Wan Wu Yi.

"Tsk tsk, just look at you. The dignified Door Master of Gu Mo City's Corpse Sect, yet your courage is so small. No wonder you ended up in such a predicament."

Wan Wu Yi's sarcasm naturally poured oil onto the flames of fury in the Corpse Sect Door Master's heart, but he could only endure it, not daring to flare up at Wan Wu Yi in the slightest.

Wan Wu Yi noted the anger on the Corpse Sect Door Master's face, but he merely smiled dismissively. Then, putting on a mysterious air, he asked the Corpse Sect Door Master,

"I heard. . . you possess a Corpse Ghoul that has already stepped half a foot into the Corpse King realm. Is that true?"
