Chapter 1064: Shattered Corpse in Ice

Eight talismans were successfully affixed to the bodies of the eight Corpse Ghouls. This time, instead of burning like the previous fire talismans, a strange layer of frost eerily formed on them. Following that, the eight talismans successively emitted a series of cracking sounds.

As the talismans shattered, the eight Corpse Ghouls were instantly frozen into ice sculptures. Their expressions, their postures—everything was suspended in that moment. At this point, they were mere meters away from Xiang Chuan.

“Heh heh, let you taste the flavor of *****. But now, your death is nigh! Let this young master properly send you off! ”

Xiang Chuan chuckled, then, instead of retreating, he advanced, leaping forward and charging towards the nearest Corpse Ghoul. He unleashed a full-powered palm strike directly at its head.

Boom! ! !

As the palm descended, it erupted with a thunderous crash. The ground trembled, and the ice sculpture beneath his palm shuddered in response.

Crack! Crack! Crack, crack, crack!

A series of crisp cracks emanated from the ice sculpture. Cracks spread across it, and then, with a sharp snap, the entire ice sculpture exploded into irregular chunks of ice of various sizes.

Xiang Chuan's palm strike didn't just shatter the ice encasing the Corpse Ghoul; the Corpse Ghoul itself splintered along with the frozen shell. Amidst the scattered ice fragments littering the ground, severed limbs and broken arms were clearly visible.

While zombies possessed an "undying body," this so-called immortality, much like that of Underworld agents and ghosts, only applied to natural death. When faced with powerful external destruction, they were still bound to perish.

The Corpse Ghoul, shattered by Xiang Chuan's palm, naturally couldn't revive. With its body splintered to such an extent, let alone a Corpse Ghoul, even a Corpse King would surely die.

Given Xiang Chuan's strength, facing eight Corpse Ghouls simultaneously should have been a guaranteed defeat. Yet, relying on a vast quantity of top-tier Black Talismans, he managed to swiftly eliminate one powerful Corpse Ghoul. This achievement was undeniably impressive, albeit quite a money sink. Had he not been so wealthy, he wouldn't have dared to play such a dangerous game.

Even a top-tier Talisman Master would feel a significant pang of heartache from expending sixteen top-tier Black Talismans in such a short span. However, Xiang Chuan displayed not a shred of distress, instead maintaining a cheeky grin. From this alone, one could glimpse a sliver of his immense wealth and extravagance.

Having dealt with one Corpse Ghoul, Xiang Chuan once again let out a "heh heh" laugh. This time, his laughter held even more triumph than before; after all, he had successfully eliminated a Corpse Ghoul, and given his personality, he couldn't help but feel a surge of pride.

As his laughter subsided, Xiang Chuan's body descended. The moment his feet touched the ground, he sprang up again, darting towards the next Corpse Ghoul. In the blink of an eye, he was hovering above it, apparently preparing to repeat his trick and shatter this Corpse Ghoul with another palm strike.

However, just at that moment, a crisp cracking sound drew his attention. He saw the Corpse Ghoul beneath him shaking violently, and a crack suddenly appeared in the ice covering its body. He knew very well what this sight signified: it was a premonition that the Corpse Ghoul was about to break free from the ice.

“Damn! How can it be so fast! ”

A flicker of surprise crossed Xiang Chuan's mind, but his hand movements didn't pause. Carrying both his astonishment and a hint of anxiety, he slammed his palm down onto the Corpse Ghoul's head.

Boom! ! !

It was the same full-powered palm strike, landed on the same Corpse Ghoul's head, and it likewise shattered the ice into fragments. The only difference was that while the ice splintered, the Corpse Ghoul encased within it did not.

After shattering the ice, his palm landed directly on the Corpse Ghoul's crown. The powerful impact forced the Corpse Ghoul to its knees, crushing the ice layer on the ground beneath it, yet its body did not shatter into pieces.

Roar! ! !

The Corpse Ghoul let out an enraged roar, exhaling visibly cold air from its mouth. With a sweeping grab, it seized Xiang Chuan's ankle from above and then violently slammed him towards the ground.

Boom! ! !

Xiang Chuan's body smashed through the ice layer. Though he managed to shield himself with his power in time, such a fierce blow still inflicted considerable injury. The scent of rust filled his nostrils.

Pfft! ! !

Xiang Chuan opened his mouth and spewed a mouthful of fresh blood. The triumph that had filled his face moments ago was now replaced by an expression of agony.

It was no wonder he looked that way; having been so thoroughly slammed by the Corpse Ghoul, his bones felt like they were coming apart. How could he possibly maintain a smile on his face?

The Corpse Ghoul, sensing he wasn't dead, exerted force with its arm, flinging his body into the air once more. It appeared poised to slam him violently back to the ground, intending to inflict even greater damage upon Xiang Chuan.

“Damn it! Again? ! ”

Xiang Chuan cursed. Unleashing his power to its limit, he endured the intense pain radiating throughout his body, and with his other, unfettered foot, he fiercely kicked at the arm of the Corpse Ghoul that held his ankle.

Though it was merely a simple kick, its power was not to be underestimated. The Corpse Ghoul's hand was forcibly dislodged by his foot, though a large section of his pant leg was torn off, and a significant patch of skin ripped from his ankle, with blood trickling down.

At this moment, Xiang Chuan paid no heed to such minor injuries. His form flickered, and he quickly put distance between himself and the Corpse Ghoul. Simultaneously, the other Corpse Ghouls, frozen into ice sculptures, began to vibrate violently. Cracks appeared one after another in the ice covering them, indicating that the ice would not hold them for much longer.

Xiang Chuan noticed this and promptly unleashed all the remaining ice talismans from his independent space, hoping to trap the Corpse Ghouls for a longer duration. He, who was never one to be distressed over expending talismans, certainly wouldn't haggle over how precious these talismans were or how wasteful his usage was, especially in such a perilous situation.

As several ice talismans were unleashed, the ice on the Corpse Ghouls that hadn't yet broken free thickened, and the cracks that had appeared were mended. Under these conditions, breaking free would undoubtedly consume even more of their time and strength.

As for the Corpse Ghoul that *had* managed to break free, it was once again sealed by the ice, though its icy layer was considerably thinner in comparison.

Xiang Chuan didn't bother wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. With a disgruntled expression, he immediately rushed towards the Corpse Ghoul that had just attacked him. This was the perfect opportunity to eliminate it, and he had no intention of missing it; otherwise, it would be a terrible waste.

Huang Sha was currently dealing with the two members of the Corpse-Controlling Gate, so Xiang Chuan had to face these Corpse Ghouls alone. In this situation, every Corpse Ghoul he eliminated would reduce the pressure he faced.

He no longer had any ice talismans left in his independent space. If he didn't seize this chance to eliminate as many Corpse Ghouls as possible, once they broke free, the pressure on him would dramatically increase, and he might even lose his life.

“I didn't shatter you just now! I refuse to believe I can't shatter you this time! ”

As Xiang Chuan's displeased voice faded, his full-powered palm strike landed on the Corpse Ghoul's head.

Boom! ! !

This time, there was no surprise. The Corpse Ghoul, which had nearly claimed his life, was ultimately shattered into icy fragments by his palm.

After dealing with this Corpse Ghoul, Xiang Chuan immediately charged towards his next target.

Elsewhere, Huang Sha, employing some unknown technique, transformed into a colossal yellow monster. Its fist, the size of a small house, slammed down upon the two advancing members of the Corpse-Controlling Gate.

Under the collision of their powers, the two assailants were forced back several steps, while Huang Sha's fist was battered and torn by the immense force, causing a thick layer of yellow sand to permeate the area.

Though his fist was battered, it seemed to have little effect on Huang Sha. As the mud and sand at the wound rapidly churned, the damaged part of his fist visibly healed at an astonishing speed.

When the two members of the Corpse-Controlling Gate launched their attack again, his fist had already returned to its original state, and he slammed it back at them.

For a time, Huang Sha, relying solely on his own power, managed to hold back the two members of the Corpse-Controlling Gate. Although the scene suggested he was at a disadvantage, he had undeniably stalled them. How long he could maintain this form and how long he could hold them back remained unknown.

Yang Haoran, whom the Corpse-Controlling Gate's Sect Master considered a primary target for assassination, not only remained largely undisturbed at this moment but also suffered no significant harm.
