Chapter 792: The World-Shaking Ring

This world, enveloped by black winds, originally held no concept of fear, until his arrival.

Bai Mo released the wisp in his hand, a wisp of black smoke that seemed to have birthed emotions because of him, allowing it to flee wildly.

Bit by bit, white light began to emanate from his hand.

Starting from his fingers, Bai Mo's body also began to transform into these scattered points of light.

His fingers were the first to vanish, followed by his palm, wrist, and arm. Then, this white starlight spread throughout his entire body, finally engulfing his hair.

Summoned by the light, a blazing hot gate appeared in this world enveloped by darkness.

...

"CRACK!"

"The World-Shaking Ring shattered, a great omen of disaster!" A Daoist with eyebrows reaching his ears looked at the shattered jade on the ground with an expression of disbelief and exclaimed in shock.

"Immediately inform the Sect Master and the Grand Elder; there must be no delay." The Daoist slapped the gourd at his waist, and two small figures flew out from the mouth of the gourd, riding a streak of golden light.

"Yes, Master!"

Another streak of golden light flashed past, and the two small figures were already at the edge of the horizon, leaving behind only the worried long-browed Daoist.

"The last time the World-Shaking Ring reacted was when the True Form of the Myriad-War Heavenly Zerg descended upon the Dao Chen Immortal Realm, and in one breath, swallowed more than ten realms."

"Pearl Return Palace Master, what about the World-Shaking Ring?" In less than the time it takes to steep a cup of tea, two figures silently descended upon this Pearl Return Palace, which housed the sect's divination Dao artifacts.

"Reporting, Ancestral Master, the World-Shaking Ring was damaged during the recent premonition, shattering into several pieces." The long-browed Daoist carefully took out the fragments he had just carefully preserved from his spatial cloth bag.

But to his surprise, what he took out from the spatial cloth bag was not fragments of the World-Shaking Ring, but a handful of fine sand!

"This..."

"This... Ancestral Master, when this disciple just placed it into the spatial cloth bag, it was still just a few fragments! Given the material of the World-Shaking Ring, it clearly shouldn't decay even if left in a spatial cloth bag for thousands or tens of thousands of years."

"I am well aware of that." The white-haired elder, who was in the lead, lightly tapped the fine sand with his index finger.

In but an instant, this handful of fine sand seemed to gain a life of its own and began to rapidly reassemble, gradually restoring its original form.

"To think it could shatter the World-Shaking Ring completely into dust, the newcomer is surely not benevolent." The white-haired Ancestral Master gazed at the World-Shaking Ring, which had barely regained its ring shape, its surface riddled with cracks, and couldn't help but let out a long sigh.

"Hong Wen."

"This disciple is present." Although the long-browed elder was a highly respected Immortal Sect Elder in the eyes of his junior disciples below him, before this super ancient being who had lived for over fifty thousand years, he could still only refer to himself as a disciple.

"I recall, the last time the Zerg Mother descended upon our Dao Chen Immortal Realm, the World-Shaking Ring only developed a few more cracks, correct?" RA`N0*BEs

"As Ancestral Master discerns."

"Never mind."

"Please enlighten us, Ancestral Master."

"Xing Jian."

"This disciple is present."

"Starting today, our Moral Immortal Sect shall seal its mountains for two hundred years. Disciples still outside the sect are to be notified with the Moral Red Edict and must return to the sect within one year. Violators... shall be expelled from the sect!"

"Ancestral Master, this..." Receiving this sudden command, the Sect Master was momentarily at a loss. He had never imagined that this pillar of the Dao Chen Realm, the sole Grand Elder of the Moral Immortal Sect, would actually make a decision to seal the mountains based on the result of a divination Dao artifact.

But once the Grand Elder had spoken, though he was noble as Sect Master, he could only helplessly accept. It was just that his two children, who were exploring secret realms billions of miles away in the Dao Chen Immortal Realm, would have to pay an enormous price to be teleported back within one year.

...

"Xing Jian, are you questioning your master's decision?" After the two of them left the Pearl Return Palace, the white-haired elder asked from a superior position.

Compared to the Moral Immortal Sect Master, who was slender, the Grand Elder was a full five heads taller than him. Of course, these were not their true forms, but avatars used for convenience in daily affairs.

"This disciple would not dare."

"You have been my disciple for over three thousand years, what is there you still dare not speak plainly?"

"Master, this... is it truly worth it?"

"I know better than you what sealing the mountains entails. But this time, there is an omen of the sect's demise. Mere external things, if sacrificed, then so be it."

"Do you know about the matter of Qiong Xiao?" The Ancestral Master continued.

"This disciple is naturally aware of the matter of Chen Feng falling into the enemy's formation and his life tablet shattering a few days ago."

"At first, I thought the Zerg Mother had gone mad and suddenly attacked Chen Feng at the cost of a hundredfold sacrifice. Later, when I received reports from other sect masters, I realized this was a hunt specifically targeting the descendants of our sect's high-ranking members."

"It summoned helpers from another realm. These are pledges of allegiance to prevent them from being bribed by us." The white-haired Ancestral Master continued to explain.

"Using blood feud to create a rift, how truly ruthless."

The Sect Master's own children were billions of miles away from the sect and thus suffered no losses in this hunt. But among the high-ranking members of the subordinate sects, almost everyone had a junior who died. Even if he had thoughts of recruiting these visitors from another realm, he would still have to consider the opinions within the sect.

"That such news could be sent out means it was not in vain that we expended great cost to refine Emperor's Nectar and awaken the spiritual intelligence of the soldier-worms it controlled."

Among the worms under Yi Xi Si, a very small number, after awakening their own spiritual intelligence, in order to completely overthrow the Zerg Mother's oppressive rule, chose to become spies for the Dao Chen Realm, continuing to feign being mere tools, silently transmitting intelligence to the Dao Chen Realm.

However, this was more like its open scheme.

The hatred of a murdered child is irreconcilable. Even if the Dao Chen Realm truly managed to grudgingly win over the Earthlings at a great cost, that thorn would forever remain.

"It's just that the Zerg Mother, this time, seems to have summoned something formidable..." The Ancestral Master picked up the World-Shaking Ring, covered in cracks, from his hand and continued to sigh.

This World-Shaking Ring was an artifact he painstakingly refined over hundreds of years, after exhaustively searching for rare and precious materials throughout the Dao Chen Immortal Realm. Its sole function was to indicate calamities.

Indicating heavenly tribulations, earthly tribulations, and human tribulations.

Once a calamity appeared that could threaten the Moral Immortal Sect, the World-Shaking Ring would issue a warning and automatically sustain damage, the extent of the damage being related to the scale of the impact.

For ordinary calamities, the World-Shaking Ring would at most develop a few cracks, and could be restored to its original state after a hundred years of nurturing.

But this time... the World-Shaking Ring directly shattered into powder. The white-haired Daoist didn't know if it could recover, and could only foresee that this was a catastrophe of world-ending proportions.

"Xing Jian, you will oversee the sealing of the mountains. I will arrange to meet Old Ghost Chen and personally confront the source of this calamity." The white-haired Daoist performed a quick divination with his fingers and immediately knew the other party's location.

Naturally, this was also why Bai Mo made no effort to hide his whereabouts.

PS: Allow me to introduce Gouzi's new book, "The Tome of Old Days," by the author Xiong Langgou. The new book has that classic flavor from back then. Highly recommended..
