Chapter 726: To Gaze Upon Thee, A Lifetime Undone

Revulsion.

Instinctive revulsion.

As Lun Qin gazed at the man before her, an overwhelmingly intense feeling of revulsion instinctively surged within her, making her desire nothing more than to tear him to shreds at once.

The murderous intent, almost coalesced into a tangible entity, pierced Dun Que like a bone-chilling wind, making him incredibly uncomfortable.

Yet, after several struggles, she ultimately managed to temporarily rein herself in with reason.

Forcing back the overflowing, potent murderous intent, she asked again:

"Who are you?"

Even a blind man could have sensed Lun Qin's malevolent intentions.

However, Dun Que found himself utterly helpless. He couldn't fight her, nor could he escape, leaving him with no choice but to continue playing along, feigning compliance.

"I truly am just an ordinary refugee!!!"

He emphasized this, almost howling the words.

The mental pressure emanating from the woman before him was simply too immense, like a towering mountain pressing down just a few meters above his head—the slightest movement would flatten him completely.

Not a tank, but more formidable than one.

Dun Que suddenly regretted why, out of fear of becoming an enemy of the monsters, he hadn't consumed those treasure seeds to first gain enough power for self-preservation, or at least enough to make a getaway.

Over the past month, he had indeed acquired quite a few treasure seeds, but he had consistently hesitated, fearing that consuming them would turn him into an enemy of those monsters.

This was entirely due to the utterly shocking power of the Reapers. His Imperial Guard contingent, which originally boasted over a hundred ability users equipped with treasures, had been utterly powerless before three Reapers, shattered and routed, with less than a third managing to escape with their lives.

And this was under the premise that a large number of ordinary people had been abandoned, left behind as bait to attract the monsters.

Changing sides to stand against the monsters for such a paltry amount of power was simply not worth the cost.

...

Compared to the apocalyptic planes Dun Que, a Reincarnator, had previously descended upon, hunger was surprisingly not an issue in this particular apocalypse.

Because people simply died too quickly.

The vast majority of people hadn't even had time to finish the food they carried before perishing at the hands of the monsters.

Those were no ordinary monsters; they were absolutely professional killing machines, their clearing speed simply beyond imagination.

In the desolate camps, edible items lay scattered everywhere, though often accompanied by the severed limbs of their former owners and dried bloodstains.

...

"Ahhh... Die!"

Without warning, Lun Qin suddenly clutched her head and punched the air beside Dun Que.

"Bang!"

There was no time to react. The terrifying shockwave had already exploded completely behind him, propelling Dun Que over a dozen meters away.

He felt as though his back had been struck by a train, then his vision went black, and he passed out.

"Cough, cough, cough."

Several minutes later, Dun Que slowly regained consciousness. Powerless, he propped himself up with his left hand on the ground, his right hand feeling his chest where four or five ribs seemed to be broken, and he coughed up several mouthfuls of blood.

Following the direction of Lun Qin's punch, he saw a gigantic trench, over a hundred meters long and several meters deep, carved into the ground.

Dun Que had no doubt that if that punch had been aimed directly at him, his small frame would have instantly been reduced to ashes, scattered like dust in the wind.

Even the colossal monsters, dozens of stories tall, could not compare their destructive power to that of the woman before him.

While the Reapers' scythe-like tentacles were more than capable of obliterating human bodies, they could at most leave a shallow crater in the ground—there was absolutely no way they could inflict a wound like this upon the earth.

Not a single part of his body wasn't screaming in pain. The shockwave had fractured far more than just a few ribs; his muscles were strained in multiple places, and his clothes had been shredded from scraping against the ground.

A burning, searing pain at that moment eclipsed all other sensations, dominating the vast majority of Dun Que's thoughts.

Of course, Lun Qin, standing nearby, was not faring any better.

She could clearly feel that from the moment she saw Dun Que, a certain switch, existing somewhere between reality and illusion within her body, had been irrevocably flicked open. An unspeakable monster was ceaselessly attempting to seize control of her body.

This monster seemed to harbor an irreconcilable hatred for Dun Que, or more precisely, for something within Dun Que's body. As soon as their thoughts intersected, they would be filled with nothing but animosity.

This hatred was so profound that she could sense it even through a body.

"Die!"

Another uncontrollable punch.

And another hundred-meter-long trench.

A massive "X" now marked the ground.

...

"Oh, omnipotent Great Chaos, I beg you to lead me to escape with my life!"

Seeing the chaotic woman growing increasingly deranged, throwing punches wildly at the heavens and the earth,

and knowing that any one of those punches, if it merely grazed him, would leave not a shred of his bones or corpse,

a completely insecure Dun Que once again recalled the Great Chaos.

After all, an existence of that caliber could even sever the Main God's connection; surely, lending him a hand wouldn't be a problem.

As for the price he would have to pay, that was no longer important. As long as he survived, everything else could be negotiated.

If his life was gone, then truly everything was gone.

This time, however, was peculiar. No sooner had the thought of seeking help sprouted than Dun Que felt a torrent of power surge from his heart, wildly propelling itself through every part of his body.

It was as if it were a pre-arranged script, giving him no time to react at all.

Wherever the warm current flowed, fractured bones instantly healed, torn muscles regenerated in an instant, and scraped skin became smooth as new. In that single moment, his entire being was reborn.

Yet, this was only the beginning.

After the initial surge of restorative power was completely expended, a second wave of energy rapidly swelled like a tide, engulfing his entire body.

But this time, it wasn't merely simple restoration.

Tearing apart, re-constructing. With his eyes closed, Dun Que, keenly sensing, had the illusion that every cell in his body had been strengthened. Though the process was far from pleasant, there was no doubt: he had grown stronger.

A third time.

A fourth time.

A fifth time.

...

A full seven surges originating from his heart ultimately reinforced his entire being to an unparalleled degree.

As a consequence, Dun Que at this moment completely lost his human form, transforming into a twisted mass of flesh and blood—a true monster.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!"

Anyone who opened their eyes to find themselves transformed from a perfectly normal human into an extraordinarily repulsive monster would find it impossible to remain calm.

His human shell had completely vanished, replaced by an amalgamation of countless pink biological tissues.

The nearly liquid pink flesh spread out, covering an area over a kilometer in radius, with an endless number of tentacles sprouting from warts and blisters across its surface.

Beneath this unseen ocean of flesh and blood, countless other tentacles, resembling both muscle and the fibrous roots of plants, were burrowing deeper into the earth.
