Chapter 500: The Sacred God

Lu Yuesheng said nothing more. Such terms, which sounded incredibly profound yet utterly incomprehensible, were best left unexplored, she decided.

People who lacked strength but fantasized all day about the Great Dao and immortal cultivation were generally known as late-stage chuunibyou patients, and Lu Yuesheng could simply dismiss their words with a smile.

But Bai Mo, who stood before her, often spouted such eccentric theories, yet was undeniably a man possessing the very real power to shatter cities and topple nations.

When such words came from his lips, the situation became rather subtle.

...

"Ha Si Ta, don't you think there's something questionable about that woman's origins? We shouldn't have brought her in." After Lu Yuesheng departed, Lin Yan Yang, the vice-leader of the Flame Alliance, pulled a gemstone from his pocket and transmitted his voice with a mental ripple.

"According to our investigation, unless she possessed an adult body, she should have arrived in this world at least twenty years ago." Someone nearby interjected.

As early as their time at the Xierdesi Research Institute on Earth, they had already conducted live experiments which showed that possessing a normal person's body offered a high chance of acquiring most of their memories.

However, while gaining memories, there was also a certain possibility of confusing one's own self, with the primary self-awareness becoming that of the person whose body was taken over—essentially offering the other side a free gift package of memories and experience.

Therefore, they would only choose to possess adults in unavoidable circumstances, normally opting for infants who had virtually no concept of self.

"Is her true identity important?" A low voice emanated from the gemstone. "Unless it's something truly significant, stop wasting my time."

After that sentence, the communication from the other side abruptly ceased.

...

"The Alliance Leader is still the same, constantly thinking about his Sacred God Path."

"I see it clearly as an Evil God Path, gaining power by instilling fear instead of faith."

"Don't gossip too much about the Alliance Leader. Having nightmares every day about being hunted by a tentacle monster is hardly a pleasant experience."

"That monster in yellow robes, with a face full of tentacles! I dreamt of it once! It tied me up in a theater and forced me to watch a play performed entirely by lunatics. I'll never forget it, even if you beat me to death!" A member complained with a shudder.

"You must have provoked the Alliance Leader," everyone chuckled in unison.

The Sacred God Path that Ha Si Ta cultivated was a direction he had extensively modified from the original method of apotheosis through faith.

Unwilling to become a god constrained by the power of faith, he experimented with a new path: spreading fear and twisting minds across different world layers to obtain power.

The people on the Ark had all forsaken their physical bodies, becoming a permanent part of the Void Worm, in exchange for the ability to traverse different spatial layers.

After abandoning their physical forms, skin color, appearance, and race no longer served as barriers for people forming small groups; thus, many cross-racial factions emerged, with Lin Yan Yang and Ha Si Ta being one such example.

Leveraging this terrifying ability, everyone indulged their imaginations, employing every conceivable method to grow stronger, striving for a day when they could break free from the worm and traverse dimensions independently.

Instead of being confined, as they were now, with thousands of transmigrators crammed into a single world.

While thousands of companions transmigrating together reduced the survival risk, the thrill of showing off by leveraging information asymmetry became almost negligible in comparison.

A significant portion of them had initially agreed to participate in this insane transmigration plan simply to savor that feeling of superiority from overwhelming the natives with information.

Whether it was farming in another world, introducing Earth's technology to other realms, or becoming literary plagiarists and masters of their generation, it was all, at its core, for this very reason.

If thousands of people transmigrated collectively, even if they used all three hundred poems from the Classic of Poetry, it still wouldn't be enough to go around. Perhaps they'd need all the famous literary works from every dynasty throughout history just to barely provide each of them with a piece to show off.

As for farming... most of them probably lacked the patience to start from scratch and teach the common people of the Manghuang Realm basic mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

To change this backward world where basic literacy was already considered an achievement, a group of patient elementary and middle school teachers might prove to be the most useful.

...

"Yan Yang, what do you make of that Lu Yuesheng?" After a burst of laughter, the conversation shifted back from the topic of tentacle monsters.

"There's no doubt she's from Earth." From their recent interaction with Lu Yuesheng, it was clear that her three views were completely different from those of the natives.

"She can use words like 'democracy' and 'freedom' in her speech; nobody would believe you if you said she was a native of this world."

"Neither the high-and-mighty Bloodline Houses nor the common people, treated like mere blades of grass, have any concept of democracy," said a transmigrator who had originally reincarnated into a minor Bloodline House and fled his family after the Great Wei Dynasty court issued a soul-searching decree.

"A single command from the Wei court means that the subordinate Bloodline Houses must obey unconditionally, no matter how unreasonable or inhumane that soul-searching decree might be."

"And besides us, none of the other peers resisted; they all willingly opened up and handed over all their memories for the clan leader to inspect."

...

"Who would pursue a concept that doesn't even exist in their minds?" Bai Mo, who had diverted a sliver of his attention to the group, formed this thought after listening to their entire conversation.

From the moment Ha Si Ta's consciousness descended upon Hanluo City, Bai Mo had taken notice of this group.

That descending consciousness carried a faint, familiar aura, reminding him of Ramdo, whom he had shattered into pieces, and a certain apple tree from his memories that seemed to be called Ying Huo.

Leveraging the capabilities of the Destiny System, Bai Mo learned about Ha Si Ta's rise to power.

With a humble background and poor magical aptitude, he became a "chosen child" through a "fortuitous encounter," acquiring a fragment of the godhead from Ramdo—a pioneer of the Divine Path whose grand endeavor had collapsed halfway through.

Guided by the godhead fragment, Ha Si Ta opened one of Ramdo's secret treasuries, defying fate to become a transcendent cultivator of the Divine Path.

Yet, not even Ramdo's soul fragment could have imagined that this young man, who usually appeared honest and simple, treated people warmly, and looked like a genuinely good person, harbored incredibly deep schemes in secret!

He had always been wary of fortuitous encounters obtained without reason, constantly investigating the fragment's background behind Ramdo's soul fragment's back.

Although most leads ceased there and could not be pursued further due to the involvement of a major figure like Bai Mo, Ha Si Ta eventually learned of Ramdo's mortal enemy, the mutated apple tree Ying Huo.

Through Ying Huo's explanation, he finally realized that he would, imperceptibly, slowly integrate the intense hatred for both Ying Huo and Bai Mo, becoming one of the pawns in a revenge plot.
