Chapter 400: Change
After connecting the sphere of light to himself, Bai Mo used his power to compel all the souls within the sphere, which had almost completely lost their individuality and become one non-linear computer after another, to process information and affairs from across the nation, constantly drawing upon memory data within the soul interconnected network.
"It's a pity that quantum computers are still just toys confined to laboratories; otherwise, I wouldn't need to go through such trouble, resorting to a compromise like interfacing souls with computers."
Bai Mo returned to the Tianqing proving ground. Inside the proving ground, the core servers of the virtual reality network were still stored. He needed to complete the interface between the virtual reality network and the Destiny System for the envisioned society to truly function normally.
When the Youth Alliance comprehensively took over the proving ground's assets, they chose not to move these machines, but merely dispatched a large number of subordinates to guard them, leaving the servers in their original location. This allowed Bai Mo to very easily bring everything back under his control.
Using psionic power with molecular-level precision, he transformed himself into an incredibly powerful 3D printer.
Appearing like creation from the void, a colossal machine, three stories high, rose from the ground at an incredible speed within the core area of the proving ground, as if time itself were rapidly accelerating.
Intricately complex optical paths appeared within the machine, and through the gaps in its casing, a massive floating liquid substance could be observed at its core.
Around the purple liquid substance, a vacuum was maintained by Bai Mo's psionic power. As a new generation of information storage device, data would be stored directly on each atom, and high-speed data retrieval would be achieved through the rapid movement of these atoms.
Although research into quantum computers hadn't seen much progress over the past decade, studies on photonic computers, moving in another direction, had already achieved remarkable results.
And now, with Bai Mo acting as an all-purpose industrial master machine, completing large-scale molecular-level assembly, technical hurdles that surpassed the limits of human technological processing – such as the manufacturing of photonic directional couplers – were overcome through this illogical method.
He used his power to forcefully drag the tech tree forward, leveraging the existence of Spirit Energy to prematurely realize some nearly black technology innovations.
"The non-linear computations of human souls, combined with the sufficiently powerful linear computational capabilities of photonic computers, should at least be able to handle miscellaneous tasks for the next few years."
He needed this country to operate according to his ideas, so that it could provide him with the astronomical amount of human and material resources required for his new round of experiments.
But this also meant there had to be something to manage the vast number of trivial matters within the entire country that he deemed unimportant, such as neighborhood disputes, or where a small shop should open, or how many network cables needed to be connected. These were not worth his time to handle.
Therefore, Bai Mo, believing that humans would inevitably act out of self-interest and not maximize his benefits, felt it was imperative to have a machine with powerful enough processing capabilities and no self-concept to fulfill this task.
After completing the tasks at hand, he suddenly thought: "Something seems off. Ever since I entered the Myriad Manifestation Realm a year ago, my power has been continuously and rapidly growing."
Bai Mo instinctively felt that something was amiss, yet he couldn't pinpoint the problem...
...
"The results of the Great Judgment are out; you may now query them." A little past midnight, a push notification suddenly appeared from the system.
The Heavenly Great Judgment that Bai Mo had mentioned a week prior was silently completed under the terrifying processing capabilities of the system's central hub.
There was no need for the verbal sparring of lawyers or the testimonies of witnesses; the system's central hub, which integrated the memories and judgments of tens of millions of people in the Federation along with the computational power of large photonic computers, had no use for such things.
Although this self-concept-less central hub couldn't be used for innovation or exploration, its efficiency in processing existing problems was beyond imagination.
After more than an hour of full-load operation, the system completely cleared out 130 million people within the Federation who had committed crimes but had not yet been punished, excluding prisoners who had already been converted into soul states. The vast majority of these were individuals who had committed robbery under the incitement of the Red World Chaos.
"Report to the local engineering camp and serve for half a year in three months? I only got a small gold ring when I robbed that jewelry store..."
"Serve for three years a year from now? This reckoning after the fact is too cruel!"
...
The rioters, who had originally believed they were pardoned by the Huaxia Federation government, cursed loudly upon seeing the messages from the system. But after their initial fervor, they all cowered, remembering the people who had been "executed" in broad daylight for resisting the system.
Even knowing they wouldn't truly be killed, no one wanted to experience the sensation of losing their body. All those who had the courage to resist had already vanished during the day.
By a little past three in the morning, everyone connected to the Destiny System suddenly received similar messages in their sleep:
"Task 1: Continue your previous work. Reward for completion: Survival Points +1. Penalty for non-completion: Survival Points -5. Task 2: After work, enter the virtual reality system, begin the introductory bridge design course, and pass the daily test. Reward: Contribution Points +1. Penalty for non-completion: Survival Points -1."
Based on the differing content of the forms they had filled out, the specific tasks varied. For those aspiring to be doctors, the after-work study content would be medically related. The tasks above were from a young person who dreamed of becoming a bridge designer.
Survival Points were linked to all welfare allocations within the new nation. From the free housing each person would be assigned, to free canteens and inexpensive medical care, all welfare measures were directly tied to the quantity of Survival Points.
Completing daily work and earning Survival Points to maintain daily life would grant access to corresponding levels of welfare. This was a core clause written in the system's instruction manual.
Of course, many people also received notifications stating that they didn't need to come to work tomorrow...
After the government and banking systems were taken over by the system, a large number of enterprises and departments deemed to have no value by the system were either merged or directly shut down and abolished.
The entire nation rapidly transformed into what could broadly be termed a super-organism. The concept of brands would disappear; products of the same type would bear only one name; all excess production capacity would be eliminated, moving towards a completely planned economy.
Especially industries related to luxury goods, entertainment, advertising, sales, and finance – most of these would be drastically cut in the system-planned era, and the social production structure would undergo earth-shattering changes.
