Chapter 332: Summer Palace
"What exactly are they after?"
"If the cultivation of the Martial Path allows spiritual will to exist independently of the physical body, then it might closely resemble their form of existence. Perhaps my white light can take inspiration from the structural form of this red light."
"Because of the Spirit Devourer released by Gaia, almost all people with supernatural powers have left the cities, scattering to various locations. If an uprising were to be launched to control all cities, now would indeed be the most opportune time."
...
While he battled fiercely against the projection of the Disciple of the Crimson World on the informational plane, he also used the newly acquired intelligence to try and piece together the entire situation.
As their contest grew increasingly heated, Bai Mo, whose cultivation realm was far inferior to his opponent's, began to feel the pressure mount. Fighting a suspected informational lifeform in its familiar informational world was indeed not a good choice.
Yet, this was the only method he could devise to truly defend against such an existence's invasion; physical defenses seemed utterly meaningless to them.
Simultaneously, the white light surging from him intertwined with the red light, attempting, time and again, to accomplish the nearly impossible task of assimilation.
Bai Mo, cultivating in both Dao Wu Shuangxiu, on one hand used his Destiny System for primary defense, preventing his thoughts from leaking and stealing more useful information, while on the other hand, he launched a primary assault with the white light representing his martial will, to contend with this unprecedentedly powerful enemy.
In the opulent Summer Palace, Song Shibang, an ability user at the Xuanhua Stage, pulled the several bare young women on the bed, who were clearly frightened and timid, behind him.
After casually tossing them a few blankets, he also picked up a robe from beside the bed and draped it over himself.
"What are you?!" He stared intently at the ball of red light that had suddenly appeared before him, trying to discern its true nature. With his powerful perception, there were truly few entities that could infiltrate this place without alarming anyone.
Moreover, it was a special time; almost all of the top brass had dispersed to their respective holiday villas to work. Such an uninvited guest truly left Song Shibang feeling perplexed.
As a high-ranking official of the Huaxia Federation, Song Shibang, who indulged in luxury, had spent nearly ten billion over the years on extensive construction within the Federation, building a colossal palace and naming it the Summer Palace.
This palace, combining modern architectural techniques with retro design, featured carved beams and painted rafters, permeated with classical grandeur. Spanning over twenty hectares, it rivaled ancient imperial palaces and had always been his proudest possession.
Every imaginable form of entertainment facility could be found within, all existing solely to serve Song Shibang.
Even now, with the Spirit Devourer epidemic raging, over a thousand people still worked within the Summer Palace, maintaining the operation of this colossal edifice.
"Mr. Song!" Sensing an anomaly, a large squad of armed black-clad men rapidly converged from all directions, rushing to the doorway. Without their master's permission, they, as subordinates, were not allowed to enter the bedroom.
Furthermore, Song Shibang had no need for bodyguards to protect him. The purpose of employing these men was primarily to handle his trivial troubles. As a high-ranking and influential figure in the Huaxia Federation, he remotely controlled numerous illicit industries through layers of proxies, so it was naturally impossible for him to personally dirty his hands.
"I'm fine, you can all go back!" He issued a direct order.
"Oh?" The Crimson World, gradually coalescing into a red-hued humanoid form, turned its head to glance behind, and then something began to emerge from the bodies of the black-clad men outside the door.
"Tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!"
"Boom!" A burst of submachine gun fire erupted outside the door, then the locked bedroom door was violently kicked open, and a group of people enveloped in red light stormed into the vast room. Seeing this, the few young women still on the large bed clutched the blankets covering them even tighter.
"Who told you to come in?! Didn't you hear me?! Get out!" Song Shibang casually waved his hand, conjuring a fierce gust of wind that sent them stumbling backward.
"Red Radiance?" Looking at the red light on his subordinates' bodies and the humanoid light mass before him, he recalled the organization that had caused considerable trouble worldwide.
"I grant them the power to resist." The Disciple of the Crimson World completely disregarded Song Shibang's words.
"Why does he always get to enjoy himself while we're always doing the dirty work?!"
"Several brothers have already disappeared after finishing his tasks! They say only dead men keep secrets, and it's always us who make the sacrifices!"
...
Enveloped by the Red Radiance, the black-clad men who were originally Song Shibang's subordinates had their dissatisfaction, long suppressed by violence, fully ignited. Not being good people to begin with, they each picked up their guns and began to fire, disregarding the immense disparity between them.
However, as soon as these bullets left the barrels, they rapidly slowed down, losing all their kinetic energy several meters away from him. How could mere bullets possibly penetrate the Xuanhua Layer protecting Song Shibang's body?
"Dogs don't bite their masters." This time, he was truly enraged. These subordinates, usually so submissive, had suddenly turned reckless like rabid dogs.
Song Shibang had never been saintly. He was the mastermind behind countless gangs in the Huaxia Federation. Ruthless and cold-blooded, his first reaction to rebellion was always to utterly annihilate it, not to mention that the instigator of their rebellion still seemed to be right before him.
So, without a second thought, he slammed a palm towards this group of people, while a specially enhanced palm struck the red light humanoid before him.
Even with the protection of the Red Radiance on their bodies, facing this terrifying attack, the leading black-clad men were directly pulverized into a fine meat paste, their very bones ground into powder by the horrific force.
Those who followed immediately after had their bodies torn apart by the high-frequency vibrational force, completely disfigured. Only the last few individuals were fortunate enough to survive that blow, but they too lost most of their combat capability.
Blood, gore, severed limbs, and detached legs were all slapped against the walls by the enormous airwave unleashed by that palm, painting a gruesome abstract picture.
Ordinary people without supernatural powers, even with their combat strength boosted to the Second Tier by the Red Radiance, were still fragile and vulnerable before a chasm of three cultivation tiers.
Song Shibang's ability, Heavenly Dao Extreme Tremor, was so powerful that if he hadn't been worried about destroying his beloved Summer Palace, these people wouldn't have even been able to withstand his first move.
"Meaningless." The red light humanoid allowed the palm strike to shatter it to pieces. In its eyes, the opponent was like a monkey desperately swatting at a reflection on the water, trying to shatter the moon in the sky.
