Chapter 1005: The Origin of the Heavenly Profound Mirror
Upon hearing this, the Heavenly Profound Mirror’s clone pondered for a moment before reaching into its own body.
It pulled out a cluster of light that flickered in and out of existence, as if it were breathing, and handed it over.
“Carry this with you, and it will represent me,” the clone stated solemnly.
“What is this?” Li Fan tried to take the ball of light but his hand passed right through it.
“This is the origin of the mirror, born alongside my main body. It neither increases nor decreases, is neither born nor destroyed. Outsiders cannot touch or absorb it; only I can command and control it.”
As the clone spoke, it pointed a finger through the air, sending the cluster of the mirror’s origin into Li Fan’s body.
“Brother, you’re not planning to use this origin to spy on me, are you?” Li Fan asked immediately, raising an eyebrow.
A flash of anger at being distrusted crossed the clone’s face. “This is merely the mark of origin that came with my body. Without any other power imbued in it, how could I possibly monitor you?”
Before the clone could even finish its sentence, it sensed that Li Fan had, in that very instant, sealed the origin away.
Only the faintest, most tenuous connection remained, indicating its presence.
The clone’s face froze.
However, seeing Li Fan’s expression remain unchanged, it took a deep breath to calm itself.
After a moment, it added a word of caution, “With this origin, you can completely trust Mirror Holder Cang.”
“Hmph, but not because he’s a loyal subject. Rather, in the long years he spent monitoring me, he developed other ideas. He wanted to use a secret technique to gain further control over me, thereby elevating himself above all the other Mirror Holders...”
“Unfortunately for him, there was no way his little scheme could escape my notice. I pretended to fall into his trap step by step, only to turn the tables at the last moment and transform him into my Mirror Slave...”
“Otherwise, acquiring this human body wouldn’t have been so easy,” the Heavenly Profound Mirror’s clone boasted proudly.
“Oh? Such a thing happened? That’s fantastic! The chances of my plan succeeding just went up by fifty percent!” Li Fan declared, his face full of admiration.
“There’s no time to lose. I’ll set off at once.” Li Fan cupped his hands in a farewell gesture and vanished from the clone’s sight.
The mortal city, which had been frozen in time, instantly erupted back into a clamor of noise and activity.
“I hope he succeeds,” the Heavenly Profound Mirror’s clone muttered to itself.
In truth, it didn’t place much trust in Li Fan, but it was willing to give it a try.
Just as Li Fan had said, their cooperation would be strengthened through deepening collaboration.
If the other party could actually make some waves, it wouldn’t mind lending a bit more support.
And if the plan fell apart midway...
It wouldn't suffer any loss anyway.
No one could take away the mirror’s origin. As for the Myriad Spirits Return to Number Array and Mirror Holder Cang...
To it, they were utterly insignificant.
With these thoughts, the Heavenly Profound Mirror’s clone began humming a little tune and resumed its role as a busy shop assistant.
...
Above Weidu.
Tianyang and the other two were puzzled as they watched Li Fan return.
All they had seen was Li Fan speaking face-to-face with the suspected target.
Then, instead of striking a fatal blow, he simply left.
“Emissary, what was...” Daoist Baihua asked cautiously.
“Things have changed. There’s no need to act anymore. You can return directly to the Spirit Wood Realm. I have other matters to attend to,” Li Fan explained without going into detail.
Although the affair seemed to have an anticlimactic end, Tianyang and the others dared not ask any more questions.
After they parted ways, Li Fan first went to the hidden cave in Tianchen Province and contacted Mo Rubin.
He recounted how he had found the Heavenly Profound Mirror's clone but was unable to kill it, and had instead opted for cooperation.
He even candidly confessed that he had obtained the Myriad Spirits Return to Number Array and the mirror's origin.
Inside the hidden grotto-heaven, Mo Rubin’s face floated in the air, lost in silent contemplation.
After a while, he spoke with praise, “Brother Xingwang, your quick thinking has led to a near-perfect resolution. It’s no wonder the Xuantian King always sought your counsel before making any major decisions back then...”
Li Fan tilted his head and cut him off directly. “Is that so? Perhaps. I don’t remember.”
Mo Rubin chuckled, not dwelling on the matter. He swiftly changed the subject, beginning his analysis. “According to your strategy, cooperating with the Heavenly Profound Mirror is indeed the best option at present.”
“From your description, it seems the Xuantian Treasure Mirror has also undergone significant changes compared to the past.”
“However, it should still be trustworthy,” Mo Rubin judged.
“Nearly ten thousand years have passed. Unless one has been in a deep slumber the entire time, who can guarantee their personality won’t change drastically?” Li Fan let out a few strange laughs, his words full of meaning.
“As for the Xuantian Treasure Mirror, it’s not a matter of whether we trust it or not. If we want to find the Xuantian King, it’s our only hope for now.”
Li Fan’s words left Mo Rubin speechless.
“Right, the Lifeless Array Crown is a bit insufficient for deducing and breaking the restrictions left by the Dharma Spreading Heavenly Venerate. Didn’t you say you had some other deduction treasure, one that was split into nine parts? Get it for me as soon as possible. I’ll see if I can find a way to speed up its fusion,” Li Fan added casually.
This was a minor request, and Mo Rubin readily agreed.
After the two discussed some more details of the plan, Li Fan departed.
He headed straight for Xuan Sushang’s bamboo sea grotto-heaven.
He slipped inside without a sound, arriving outside the bamboo building where the two women were.
Through the surrounding formations and restrictions, Li Fan could faintly hear the sound of moans coming from within.
His expression unchanging, Li Fan flashed into the interior of the bamboo house.
Xuan Sushang was raising a long golden whip high, striking down hard on Lu Xichan.
Lu Xichan’s face was flushed red, her eyes glazed over.
An expression of both pain and pleasure was on her face.
Just as the two were thoroughly engrossed in their game, Li Fan suddenly let out a cold cough.
The bodies of Xuan Sushang and Lu Xichan froze instantly.
They whipped their heads around to look at the suddenly appeared Li Fan.
Their flushed complexions instantly turned deathly pale.
They scrambled to their feet and prostrated themselves in greeting.
Xuan Sushang stammered, frantically explaining, “Lu Xichan was being lazy again. I was punishing her as you instructed...”
Lu Xichan bowed her head as low as it could go, not daring to utter a single word.
Li Fan let out a cold snort but did not reprimand them.
He then said to Xuan Sushang, “Arrange for your father to meet me here as soon as possible.”
Xuan Sushang was stunned for a moment, then a flicker of fear crossed her eyes. “This...”
But she quickly seemed to realize something. “Could it be that you...”
Li Fan explained calmly, “The situation is a bit complicated. In short, the crisis is now resolved. I am the only clone of the Heavenly Profound Mirror in this world now.”
“Have Cang come here to see me. He will understand.”
