Chapter 2784: The Fallen God (2) |
Swoosh!
Without warning, the Fallen God attacked.
Space shattered as the Fallen God lunged, its clawed fingers elongating into jagged blades of darkness.
Yun Lintian reacted instantly—the Heaven Sunderer met the strike head-on with a deafening clang. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the Abyss, shattering frozen debris.
"Good!" the Fallen God crowed. "Fight! Let me see the limits of this vessel!"
Yun Lintian didn't waste words. Golden flames erupted along the Heaven Sunderer's edge—the authority of the Sun God. The sword became a blazing comet as he slashed horizontally, forcing the Fallen God to retreat.
But the creature only laughed. "The Sun God's power? How quaint!" It raised a hand, and the flames dimmed, swallowed by swirling shadows. "Yan Jun was weak. His flames could never burn me!"
Yun Lintian didn't falter. As the shadows surged toward him, his left hand flicked—the authority of the God of Darkness. The encroaching darkness suddenly writhed, then split apart, repelled by its own master's power.
The Fallen God's grin faltered for the first time. "You... how?"
"You dare?!"
A shockwave of raw malice exploded outward, hurling Yun Lintian back. He flipped midair, landing smoothly as the Fallen God's form reconstituted—larger now, its outline blurring into something monstrous.
"Good!" it snarled. "This body will be mine!"
The Abyss itself seemed to bend as the Fallen God unleashed its true power. Countless shadowy tendrils erupted from the void, each tipped with a screaming face—the lost souls it had consumed over the ages. They surged toward Yun Lintian like a tidal wave of despair.
Yun Lintian exhaled slowly. Then—he activated his third authority.
The War God's power.
A crimson aura erupted around him, so thick it manifested as swirling battle formations in the air. The Heaven Sunderer's bloodlust magnified tenfold, its edge humming with the promise of slaughter.
The first wave of tendrils reached him.
Yun Lintian moved.
The Heaven Sunderer became a blur, cleaving through the shadows with brutal efficiency. Every strike carried the weight of endless battlefields, the accumulated violence of the War God's legacy. The screaming faces wailed as they were severed, dissolving into mist.
The Fallen God recoiled. "What kind of power is this!?"
Yun Lintian was already upon it. The greatsword came down in a vertical slash, splitting the frozen air itself. The Fallen God barely raised its arms to block, but the force of the blow drove it to its knees. Black blood sprayed as the sword bit deep into its shadowy flesh.
"ARGH!" The creature's form flickered wildly, struggling to maintain cohesion. "You... what are you?!"
Yun Lintian's golden eyes gleamed coldly. "Your end."
He wrenched the Heaven Sunderer free—then stabbed it straight through the Fallen God's chest.
The Fallen God shuddered violently as the Heaven Sunderer pierced its chest. Black ichor gushed from the wound, hissing like acid against the frozen ground. Yet instead of collapsing, its crimson eyes burned with renewed madness.
"You fool!" it roared, its voice shaking the Abyss. "Did you think this would be enough? I am older than the stars themselves!"
Its form suddenly dissolved into a swirling mass of darkness, wrapping around the Heaven Sunderer like living smoke. The blade trembled violently as the Fallen God's essence surged through it—straight toward Yun Lintian's hands.
"As I said! This body... WILL BE MINE!"
Black veins erupted across Yun Lintian's arms as the Fallen God's will invaded his meridians. The creature's laughter echoed in his mind, triumphant and cruel.
But Yun Lintian didn't panic.
He simply closed his eyes.
Boom!
An azure light exploded from Yun Lintian's body, so brilliant it illuminated the entire Abyss. The frozen ruins, the floating debris—everything was bathed in an ancient, draconic glow.
The Fallen God's triumphant laughter cut off abruptly.
"This power—?!"
Behind Yun Lintian, space itself tore open as an enormous projection materialized—a majestic azure dragon, its scales gleaming like polished sapphires, its eyes burning with primordial might. The moment it appeared, the very fabric of the Abyss trembled.
"PRIMORDIAL AZURE DRAGON!" the Fallen God screamed, its voice laced with genuine terror for the first time.
Yun Lintian's eyes snapped open—now glowing with pure azure light.
"ROAR!"
The dragon behind him unleashed a deafening bellow, a sound that shook souls and shattered darkness. The sonic wave struck the Fallen God head-on, tearing its shadowy form apart like paper. The creature howled as its essence was forcibly expelled from Yun Lintian's body, its invasion utterly crushed.
"NO! IMPOSSIBLE! YOU—"
Yun Lintian didn't let it finish.
His left hand shot out, fingers clamping around the dissipating shadow where the Fallen God's throat should be. Azure lightning crackled along his arm, binding the creature in place.
"Your era ended long ago," Yun Lintian said coldly. "Now, disappear."
The Heaven Sunderer flashed—not with bloodlust, but with pure azure energy. With one merciless swing, Yun Lintian cleaved the Fallen God's essence in two.
"AAAAARGH—!"
The scream cut off abruptly as the creature's form disintegrated, its darkness scattering like ash in the wind. The remnants writhed for a moment, as if trying to reform, but the azure light burned them away completely.
Silence returned to the Abyss.
The Azure Dragon's projection lingered for a moment longer, its ancient eyes surveying the battlefield. Then, with a final rumble, it faded—leaving Yun Lintian standing alone amidst the floating ruins.
He exhaled slowly, the azure glow in his eyes dimming. The Fallen God was gone—truly gone. Not sealed, not banished, but eradicated.
A faint tremor ran through the Abyss, as if the realm itself recognized the significance of what had just occurred. The frozen chains around the God of Death's skeletal leg rattled weakly, their purpose now fulfilled.
Yun Lintian walked forward and placed a hand on the relic. This time, there was no resistance.
The leg moved slightly and hovered around Yun Lintian as if it was checking on him.
"Hello, Senior. I'm Yun Lintian. I will take you back to the Netherworld now." Yun Lintian said gently.
The leg seemed to understand him and calmly floated in front of Yun Lintian.
Yun Lintian glanced at the Mirror of Forgotten Eternity, still floating where he had left it. Its surface now showed a clear path—a way out.
Without hesitation, he stepped into the gateway and disappeared from the place…
