      Exactly! Most people don't understand FY. If you see the whole timeline, it some someone or the other constantly chasing FY. I won't say that he himself wasn't notorious either. He was! But it all stemmed from everyone else chasing him.

    You know, considering his relations with variant humans and how Paradise was hell bent on helping everyone equally, i can see the logic.
    I mean, FY could've easily be the most righteous person if it made him closer to eternal life. Of course, it's good that such a burdensome downside is not present in our version of novel, but it's just shows that he's ready to do anything for eternal life.

    It's understandable actually. Mc not that type demon who kills for fun like reckless or spectral. Mc pursuit his goal only and his goal is self development. In other hand we have all this bastards who want to control entire world (like sun or star) or kill for fun (reckless, spectral) or who less human than mc (red lotus). Mc actually lesser evil for world than every other venerable.
    But venerables never been so simple so there is some scheme.

    That's... unexpected. True, it may be a lie, but it's still the most surprising sentence I've read in last few hundred chapters...
    But seriously, why?
    Does he think Fang Yuan will be nicer after he's a venerable and doesn't need to deal with the weaklings? Wait, that actually makes sense..
    Or maybe to cultivate some of his methods, inheritor must be more peaceful and civilized, or straight up abandon attack methods, thus allure of the inheritance will calm Fang Yuan down? That's also possible..
    Or even, he knows that Fang will succeed anyway, and each venerable has a strict path they follow (like spectral soul's path of killing, or thieving heaven's stealing), so he'll force his methods into MC's cultivation foundation to ensure he won't be too mean when he's invincible?
    Alright, guess it's impossible to guess yet. But they don't seem too untrustworthy.

      Another commenter mentioned how Fang Yuan is one of the few venerables who isn’t trying to conquer the world or recklessly kill. His only goal is eternal life, which can be done peacefully if given the right circumstances.

      With the possible exception of Red Lotus, everyone in Heavenly Count is trying to unify the entire would under them. Giant Sun likely has a similar goal.

      Reckless, is well reckless, while spectral soul is both trying to conquer and kill everyone.

      This leaves Fang Yuan, Dream, Limitless, and Thieving for Paradise to ally with.

      Dream is far from being a venerable at this point in time.

      Thieving only wants to or already has returned home. So he’s unreliable.

      Which leaves Limitless and Fang Yuan who both want to achieve something that’s research based. Limitless is a dao pursuer and Fang Yuan wants eternal life.

      At this point in the story, Paradise could have likely already allied with Limitless and is simply looking for more allies to not be out numbered by Heavenly Count’s venerables.
