          It wouldn't become 10 times more durable, it would become 10 times more difficult to deduce it's weaknesses. Remember when Fang Yuan was helping unravel battlefield killer moves of PEIV's student he needed to find its weak spots (so called cores) and then destroy them. The same logic works for formations. At least that's how I understood it.

            As for why it would become 10 times more difficult to deduce. Thats because Fang Yuan already found many weak spots and created a hole in formation so he already had a good understanding of its structure and how it worked. But once they changed form of the formation (moved gu in it to different places) Fang Yuan would need to start from the beginning and deduce structure of the new formation.
